I love the idea that beast enjoys his mutation purely because of the fury community

They wouldn't be important in the story, so it wouldn't matter who is on the team.

Hey folks, I wanted to ask y’all some questions on how X-Men The Last Stand could have been fixed. I heard that some said that the cure storyline should have been nixed, fewer mutants, and if they were doing the cure storyline, change it from the Dark Phoenix and set up the Sentinels instead. But at the same time, it was also a trilogy conclusion, and his goals with humanity (while many would assume he was just trying to wipe them out) tends to vary from movie to movie as truly he was only trying to fight for his mutant people. But here is a thought to think about during this entire assessment.
“He is still human, and that part... is what holds him back.”
Alright, now we all know Magneto’s backstory, he was a Jew surviving the Holocaust when he discovers his powers and witnesses a genocide of his people, so obviously he has some good motivations regarding his goals. He then goes on to meet Charles Xaiver and find people who are like them (with super powers) and sets up the Academy and what not. Charles argues that humans and mutants can co-exist and for awhile Magneto believed that, but then Magneto realizes that it will never work and feels that they should rise above the humans. His first plan was actually quite benevolent compared to X2 that kinda jumped the gun so quickly to him just wanting to kill all humans because of one guy’s actions and how everyone can be like him, but I feel that was a bit over dramatic and kinda came out of nowhere. His first plan was to capture Senator Kelly and use a mutant creating machine to change their DNA thing into mutants, unknowing they will use their molecular structure and die. He only wanted to mutate the world leaders into mutants so he can further their movement towards building a better world for humanity. He wasn’t going out of his way to do it, as he only wanted to mutate the leaders, but he refused to listen and we all know how that went out. X2 I just described a second ago, he tried to kill the humans using Dark Cerebro that Xaiver was tied to out of spite of Stryker’s attempted action. Yes there is some symbolism that comes to that as their actions matches what we would do, but it just came out of nowhere and honestly it wasn’t quite right. But hey, points for getting back at them.
Then we come to the third movie, the Last Stand. I believed at no point he ever stated his intention to what he was going to do with humanity, he only mentioned that the mutants are the cure to them, and you could imply genocide here, but he never outright says it, and some of his actions did contravene that entire statement. For starters, he spared the family that is in the van when the bridge was moved. First of all, is it possible that the people in the van was mutants? Does Magneto still have some tolerance for humanity? Why did he send all of the weaker mutants “the pawns” out to die to the cure just so for the stronger mutants to fight back, when he could have for one example drop the bridge on them, hold any humans on the bridge ransom to force Warrington to hand the boy over or he killed them all, just a number of ways that he could have done this, and yet he killed mutants over humans in this case with no qualms. If he was trying to fight for mutant superiority in this case, you would want to keep the mutants safe and use the humans instead, I mean perfect sneak attack opportunity, ransom deal, keep anyone from contacting more reinforcements. I mean the moment they shot at Jean Grey, it would have been implied that some human, either in the facility or on the bridge called for reinforcements and that is how the Dark Phoenix went on her rampage.
There was also the moment where he abandoned his friend Mystique for taking the cure shot, just for transforming into a human. Again, we don’t know his goals up to this point with humanity other than destroying a cure to stop a potential genocide from occurring. There was also the moment that he mourned his friend’s death. Xaiver, yet that got retconned extremely quickly thanks to the next movie. All of these moments had one thing in common, and this goals for all mutants in the movie.
    “They are still human.”
I say this as he does feel for other people like mutants. He is still mortal, he can still get sick, he can still die. And that goes for all the other mutants, they have that bit of humanity that keeps them from being complete monsters. That is why we got those moments where Magneto spared Mystique and the family in the car. Here is what I am thinking that could have fixed all of that.
“What if that human side, was ultimately the very weakness that keeps him from thinking they are superior to them?”
Just a few moments ago, I mentioned that how Magneto could have taken advantage of the bridge situation to show how far he was about to go to ensure that mutants never have to go through the genocide. If we are in the third movie and at the end of a trilogy, then the stakes should have been at its very highest. At that point, he should have just said screw it, he is just going to kill all of humanity when he is done with his army as they will just keep fighting back. Hell, the movie could start off with subjugation for humans at first, and then as the movie goes along, Magneto and his brotherhood realizes that at the end, genocide might be what is needed to keep their kind safe, and to prove they are superior. I mean Xaiver was out of the way completely, even though he snapped at Pyro for saying it, implying still humanity. Hell, Pyro in my opinion lost all humanity more than Magneto did. And hell, if he truly did abandoned Mystique and she ratted him out or what not, well then why not have her confront Magneto again before the battle, and then perhaps she says something about his army and how she and them, and even Magneto are still “human”. What I mean is in this case, that they still show kindness towards others, how she got to see life from the other side that she never got to in a very long time, and how she has finally came to realized that what she was doing with Magneto and his plans was just wrong, and that it wasn’t the way to do it, and that they ended up harming a lot more people then they helped, and that his way will only mean the end of his kind. They truly didn’t want war. Other parts can be mentioned that everyone of them is still human in one way or another, they still have moral grounds, they can still get sick, they can still die. They aren’t immortal, and they aren’t gods. They are only mutants because they have some sort of special powers that makes them just more powerful, but they aren’t unbeatable. The X-Men knows that, and they are fighting for the same cause, for all of humans and mutants to co-exist (this would all be against her character, but if she is human, this could give her more motivation for a redemption moment), and if he wants to destroy that, then Magneto needs to kill her, as she will stand in his way, no matter what happens. I mean, a moment that could have challenge Magneto and his followers as they are still human technically, but it would also lead to Magneto’s most evil moment of all. He realizes that he is still human, along with his followers, and that Mystique has called him out on his bullshit, and perhaps because of that if he really does mean his goals, then maybe he should kill her with no remorse at all, maybe becoming a pure monster (not like mutate into creature) and state that when he destroys the cure and the X-Men, they will kill every last bit of humanity on this planet and erase their world all together because as long as humanity exist, they will always be those that will attempt to stop them, and now that they learned about their weakness, they decided to just get rid of their human side and just embrace the hatred all together, and just outright kill them all.
Maybe not all human side, but embrace the racism and the very worst of it at that moment. Magneto should have been much more threatening, like he could have ordered his forces to kill every human on site when walking the bridge, or state he will kill them all when he was done with the X-Men and the cure, as they will just fight back, and since he was finally called out on the bullshit, maybe he does want a war, and if humanity won’t trigger it, then he will!
    What do you think?

Remarkable rewrite. If I could give my own rewrite here, I will definitely make the movie about Phoenix. The cure plot shall go on the side, not the main story. The story shall be about how the X-Men are still dealing with the mutant persecution done by the humans but able to thrive successfully as a team nevertheless. However, they're also still mourning the loss of Jean, especially Scott. Jean will be brought to life from the lake, become the Phoenix in its early stage, found by the X-Men and taken back to Xavier's school.
Later, after a fight happens in the school (Phoenix vs X-Men), she takes Xavier somewhere and this is where Magneto will appear to manipulate Jean. But Jean has to kill Magneto because he will be brought back to life at the end of the movie anyway. Then, after Magneto's death, Mystique reforms the Brotherhood and searches for a couple more new members aiming to resurrect Magneto using Jean's gene that Mystique discovers has the capability to regenerate cells.
More fights involving the human military, Warren is involved in a fight because he's a new student at Xavier's school and wants to help the X-Men, more fights, Phoenix kills Scott (yes, kill Scott) and drowns in anguish afterwards becoming the Dark Phoenix. Fight fight fight, fire fire fire and Phoenix reborn reference! Warren's family use the opportunity to push a "cure" for the mutants, humans force the mutants to take the cure but no mutants want to take the it, Jean and Phoenix wrestle with their separate personalities, we love another fight, and finally it ends with Jean realizing that there's nothing else that can be done except her own death.
Finally, she flies to the outer space. The Phoenix turns out to be more than an alternate personality as it's actually a cosmic presence that has stuck with Jean since her childhood/birth, dramatic monologue delivered by Jean, and then Jean dies frozen in the outer space (because that's the realistic thing, no kaboom combustion) as the Phoenix Force is seen leaving her dead body and travels somewhere in the universe.
At the end of it, Storm becomes the new spokesperson for Xavier's school and the X-Men, Logan goes away to travel somewhere, Scott gets his burial, Warren becomes a new X-Men member and train with Bobby, Rogue and Peter a.k.a. Colossus, and Xavier goes somewhere to drink tea. A metal chess piece is moved, Magneto (newly formed, full memory recovered by Mystique because she's just that good) shows up and talks to him, they look up and see *le gasp* Phoenix silhouette at the sky. End.
