Another tip: If you are on a setup where peripheral vision is limited/non-existent (like in a single monitor setup), iRacing has a mapable button that will look right or left when held. It's kind of an inelegant solution but it works. In fact, if I recall correctly, I think iRacing makes you map this when first setting up your wheel. Use that to get a clearer view of what's beside you.

It should be mandatory for every iRacer to view this video before racing, the racecaft on the service today is TERRIBLE

An overtaking car on the inside on entry has to provide room on exit on the outside to the driver being overtaken if they are still fully along side one another, correct?
There are some users that are telling me no space is owed on the outside of exits. I believe this is a rule adopted by F1, but no other racing medium.

Yes, if the car is still alongside you must leave space. In the words of the great Fernando Alonso, all the time you have to leave the space.

Not according to this video. This video states that there is no racing allowed mid corner and that one driver must surrender. Ridiculous.

@lax4life0607 is spot with their comment. The first section on passing, not only does it delegate responsibility which is horrible standard to set when it comes to race craft. Its takes flexibility completely out of equasion which the vid itself even advocates for. And it is quite evident in racing that people are causing accidents based on this interpretation. The rest is fine, but there needs to be a serious rethink on how passing and overlap.

3:00 would this also apply to breaking draft? I had someone do this and I reported it and was told it was ok

You cannot move your car to stop another car's progression from getting a fender. That's blocking. You CAN move your car to stop another car from getting the draft. That is NOT blocking. But if they are within 0.3 seconds with a closing rate, you need to pick a lane and hold it.

This contradicts the sporting code in several ways

...but dive bombs are fine. The protest system is broken in that case.

What do you consider a divebomb? If they hit your or force you offtrack then of course that's already not allowed. But if they're just outbreaking you then that's not a divebomb.

What if you go for an overtake on the inside, get halfway up the car on the outside then they drive into the inside to hit their apex and spin out over your front end? Even if the video says you need to be side by side to overtake at the corner it doesnt seem realistic to me. It looks like youre encoraged to barge people out of the way who try to overtake on a corner.

This is a terrible video. There is NO corner ownership rules in the sporting code. Why did iRacing make a video that completely throws race craft out the window? So the inside driver wins the corner if they are alongside? So there is NO racing alongside through a corner? Ridiculous.

They specifically said that your competitor may stay on the outside of the corner, so be aware and don't run them off the track.
