Brilliant footage. I especially like the first shot. You can tell from the steam/ black smoke exactly when the coal is being shovelled into the firebox.
Absolutely fantastic to see Sir Nigel back on the mainline again. This is one of my favourite steam locomotives of all time. Well done filming this, I really enjoyed it.
Superb shots Steve, like the 1st location as you can see the fireman working well, great to see SNG back on the S&C, it was busy out there today, shame the other tour had problems, cheers , Steve . 👍🎥😎
Thanks Steve, I wanted to try a location where it wouldn’t be busy so I was lucky enough to be on my tod just wrong side for the wind blowing the exhaust over . Yes it was a shame things went wrong for Guardsman ☹️
Great shots Steve The weather seemed to hold in your area I spoke to someone at Hellifield who said it was raining at Ribblehead? I stayed more local but was happy with the results. Hope to see Sir Nigel more in the future? Cheers Brian
Excellent footage and credit to the volunteer engineering team & SNGLT for making this day possible.
Thanks Malc , yes all the work behind the scenes gets forgotten about sometimes.
Brilliant footage. I especially like the first shot. You can tell from the steam/ black smoke exactly when the coal is being shovelled into the firebox.
Thanks for the kind words and like you say you could see how hard the fireman was working 👍
Brilliant video! I saw her at Carlisle!
Thanks Henry, glad you got her at Carlisle 👍🎥
Absolutely fantastic to see Sir Nigel back on the mainline again. This is one of my favourite steam locomotives of all time. Well done filming this, I really enjoyed it.
Thanks for the kind comment and it’s only the fourth time I’ve had the pleasure to film her .
Steve, Superb coverage of the much awaited return of the A4 to the mainline. Regards, John
Thanks John , it was a great display from the A4 on her mainline return 👍
Superb shots of the A4 approaching and passing by. Excellent video of the locos return to rail tours Stephen.
Thanks Allan, hard to believe it’s 14yrs since I last filmed Gresley.
Amazing rail movie! Great captures and awesome landscapes! Thumbs Up
All the best from Romania
Andrew
Thanks Andrew, really pleased you enjoyed the video 👍
Spot on Steve, fireman doing well above Horton there going by the clag, great to see the A4 returning to duty at last, cheers 👍
Thanks Nige , it was a great sight and sound and the clag was a bonus 👍
Great footage Steve as always, very nice to see so many folks out for this one :)
Thanks Phil , never seen so many cars at Selside Cottages I must say.
Superbly captured Steve. ( no need to pan or zoom!). Nice to see her back. Hopefully down south before too long. Keith.
Thanks Keith, like you say no need to do anything with the cameras 👍🎥
excellent shots of sir nigel at different locations 👍
Thanks Barry, much appreciated as always 👍
Good selection of shots Steve. Really good to have an A4 back on the mainline
Thanks Austin , it was great to see her again and to hear a chime whistle again.
Man and machine in harmony. Super video Steve. Thanks for sharing, well done 🤓 stay safe 💙
Thanks Anthony, it was a superb display from all concerned I thought.
At last, an A4 back on the mainline, great video, thank you for your efforts, (old ex chaser). 😀
Thanks Stuart, it was great to see her again after a long absence especially on the S&C.
Excellent Steve.
Thanks Mike for the very kind words and I’m very sorry for the late response.
Wonderful footage.
Thanks Gerais 👍
Truly stunning views Steve and great to see an A4 back on the mainline. Regards, Jeff.
Thanks Jeff , it was a great day for Mainline steam I must admit 👍
Great shots Steve of SNG, especially on the S&C. Regards James
Thanks James, it was a great return for SNG I must admit.
Lovely to see her out again. You certainly chose some great locations, to show her at full chat! 👍
Thanks Ian , tried to get a location where it wasn’t busy for the am run so I was thankfully on my own 👍🎥
Superb shots Steve, like the 1st location as you can see the fireman working well, great to see SNG back on the S&C, it was busy out there today, shame the other tour had problems, cheers , Steve . 👍🎥😎

Great stuff, wonderful ti see a Streak back on mainline metals.
Thanks Cliff , it was superb to hear the chime whistle again I must admit.
Great Video of 4498 'Sir-Nigel-Gresley' Steve!
I got her at Whalley Yesterday
Thanks Richard, pleased you enjoyed the video.
Superb video Steve. Great selection of locations. Great to see SNG working on the main line again. Kind regards C&A
Thanks C&A, it was great to see her again after a gap of 14 yrs for me 👍
Fine job.
Thanks Marv 👍
Excellent stuff there, she performed really well. I caught her at Hoghton northbound and Farington Junction southbound, and she made it look easy.
Thanks Denis, it was a cracking display from engine and crew I must admit 👍
Stunning shots!
Thanks Ste , much appreciated 👍
Great shots Stephen, especially around Horton. She was in good form for her return.👍👍
Thanks David, dropped Nige at Helwith and decided to try Horton area so I was pleased with the results.
Well done indeed. Cheers Stephen
Thanks Greg , much appreciated as always 👍
Great video Steve, we were at Selside and I stopped off at Plumpton after abandoning the CME return leg.
Thanks Alistair, we should’ve just concentrated on SNG for the return as we didn’t really have enough time to get to Strickland ☹️
@@TheStephengthompson I opted for Plumpton as it was on my way home and very close to the Motorway so got back in time to pick up the Chinese for tea.
Excellent that wind is a blowing
Hi Steve, Great video ,and locations...Dave
Thanks Dave , it was a pleasure to see her again after such a long time 👍
@@TheStephengthompson Hi Steve, Looking great .Thanks for reply ..Dave
Super video Steve :)
Cheers Simon 👍
Great footage and locations despite the late change of plans, Thought she looked quite good in black - made a nice change at least. Take care - Chris
Thanks Chris, for a one of black looked good I thought.
Great shots Steve The weather seemed to hold in your area I spoke to someone at Hellifield who said it was raining at Ribblehead? I stayed more local but was happy with the results. Hope to see Sir Nigel more in the future? Cheers Brian
Thanks Brian, it looked like it might rain at times but thankfully it stayed dry 👍
Cracker of a few shots Steve especially at Horton. Richard
Thanks Richard, I was pleased with the results at Horton I must admit 👍🎥
Lovely and hopefully get to go on it someday but what spoils it for me is seeing the Class 47 at the rear ,not that I have anything against a 47.
Thanks Shaun , to be honest I suspected the 47 would be on the rear especially as it was it’s 1st run since returning to the mainline 🎥
Great - and plenty of exhaust!
Thanks Alan, it was a bonus to get a good exhaust I must admit.
The diesel on the end is running. Is this also providing thrust?
Thanks David, it was providing power for the air conditioning and not helping to push .
Great shots! How long is it planned to have Sir Nigel wearing war time black? I prefer green.
Thanks Keith, I believe that run was a one off in black and she will now be painted blue and numbered 60007 👍
Superb video squire. Is she up her on the S&C next week or has she gone? Would love to see it again. Last time was about 45years ago in York.
Thanks Jon , not sure when she’s up on the S&C next but possibly the 15th of June on the 2nd Fellsman tour has been muted .
Are we likely to see this locomotive ( dressed as Mallard) on the rails to celebrate the centenary of her record breaker?
Super shots Steve, for the shots on the long drag do you need permission from the farmer? I’m a big fan of the 3rd one. Cheers
Never had to ask permission Sam plus as long as you don’t block the gate into the field he seems happy 👍
@@TheStephengthompson ahh spot on cheers Steve
I was waiting expectantly for the characteristic chime whistle at the first location but no luck. Never mind excellent nevertheless 🙂
Thanks Keith, thought I might get a chime in the first shot but hey ho 👍
I thought it would be in Blue?
Thanks for the comment but it was always going to do one tour in Wartime black before going into the paint shop 👍
