The first time I hunted from a ground blind was a game changer for me . I own 3 of them . For many years I hunted from ladder stands , climbers and ended up selling most of them I had and purchased ground blinds . Last week I got a nice 8 point with my crossbow hunting from a ground blind he came out 23 yards from me and never knew I was there .
Throughout my life I have hunted the old school traditional brush blinds built from all natural materials just lying around on the ground with great success . I love hunting from ladder stands as well because of the advantage of visibility and being up high gives you better range and scent control. But the older I get , the more I want the benefits of being comfortable and staying warm to sustain the entire day out in the field from sun rise to sun set . It allows you move around more and not be seen and keeps you out of the wind and rain and snow .
I'm a still-hunter, i love searching for a buck, and especially tracking one. But i'll place a blind, before the snow flies so that the interior is dry, for those miserable days. And late season, when the weather has been cold, then warm, then cold again, and the snow is all crunchy, those are the days i'll just hike in and sit in the blind.
OLD MAN HUNTING: Learning to rifle hunt from a popup ground blind, for all species of game, keeps us old people in the hunt. A 2-person popup ground blind with shoot through mesh windows works well for me. On public land, set up as far away from hunting pressure as you can. Add hunter orange to the top of your ground blind to be seen by other hunters and warned this area is actively being hunted. I use my game cart for hauling everything into, and out of, the field. Don't leave your ground blind up and unattended if you want to keep it.
I LOVE hunting out of ground blinds, but in Michigan (unless u brush it in 200%) the deer already know DANGER! at least on state land, n the way I look at it is of course if someone put a car in your living room ud be very suspicious as well! So unfortunately to be successful year after year I saddle hunt n I'm 54
An old bunk bed ladder nailed to a stump that's 6ft tall siting on a padded camo boat seat mounted to the stump. The. Stump is near and under an elderberry tree, giving great natural cover. A bit of camo netting and my whitetail is guaranteed . Has not failed in 15 years. Remount boat seat and ladder every couple of bucks.😊
After falling out of my tree stand and surviving the last 5 years I've been hunting from the ground lethal set up ambushes like you're in the military works great
I fell too. I Loved the view, and shots I got from above the Forrest floor. But I'm suffering more each year from my fall. Ground blinds are now my primary setup, and I find it gives me more flexibility and success. Be Safe out there!!
Actually theres several alternatives to hunting....they all serve a purpose and at times they can all be effective... ... just like what weapon you choose to hunt with...yah gotta love the options it keeps us motivated and anxious....bsafe!
You can put them anywhere but ya cant just plop it down and hunt. Ground blinds need set out before hunting season. The deer will spot it and will know it doesnt belong.
Yes, i bought a Doghouse and Ive only used it about 10X. BUT! It seems like sometimes the deer were so curious about it, that they came over and checked it out; of course no 5 yr olds, but I got meat in the freezer. Now, mine weighs 10 lbs, plus Im already carrying about 20 lbs, and Im old, so I dont use it as much as I should.
Can’t hunt well with a bow out of them. Can’t hunt public effectively with them as they need to be left out for deer to become accustomed to them. Can’t hunt mobile with them for the last reason stated. If you’re old and on private they’re great.
Disagree 💯% I'll take a good tree stand or climber any day over a blind! Much better scent control, up higher, better peripherals and you can see them coming in....
The arrow rifle on a sled at that lol might as well just shoot a muzzleloader at that point, out side of children 10 and under and ppl with disabilities they should be outlawed but all those in power care ab is money from tags/licenses and the lazy slugs are more money for em lmfao
@lukebryant5017 how about you do you and those of us who use crossbows will do us. You know them Peta folks want us all banned right? Stop bitching and grow up...how you hunt don't make the little head any bigger...but I bet ya bring home meat and your wife will do the trick!
Cannot agree with you. It’s shooting not hunting. You’re sitting on a lazy boy recliner with coffee pots and portable heaters. You’re moving the cameras adjusting your seating. Nope. Don’t like them. Just my opinion.
That's quite a pompous statement. Judging another hunter because he's sitting in a fold out chair and has coffee with him?? If you think the only way to hunt is the way you do it then you have a lot of maturing to do. Just my opinion of course. 🙄
This is why I don't belong to a hunt club and only hunt with friends who like me ...want meat in the freezer. We aren't doing this for sport...its food. The entire reason mankind has weapons was to expend the least amount of energy to get the biggest reward. I feel like a lot "hunter's " skipped their history lessons ....
@@endusererror Yep, it is disappointing to see hunters ripping on fellow hunters for the type of weapons they choose, the place they hunt from (tree stand or ground blind), whether they choose to take does, or only shoot bucks that make the record books. I’ve even read comments over the years that only head shots are ethical, because the deer is dead instantly. It would be great if we would all get along and realize that as hunters, we have enough concern about regulations and anti-hunters, without trashing other hunters for their choices. 🦌
The older I get the more I like a ground blind! With my heater of course.

I also love how close and personal they get on ground blinds
Private land yes, but im scared some citiot is gunna shoot me in my ground blind on public land.
Post your ORANGE above and around it!!!
In WI you are required to have orange covering at least 50% of your blind during gun season. For obvious reasons, haha
@@mrmidwestguy1496that’s not true lol it’s 144 square inches. Which a basic blaze orange top can do.
@@mrmidwestguy1496Definitely not 50% not even close...

This is really good info for new hunters. Buying and setting up a tree stand can be daunting at first .
I build wood shacks with heaters 😂on stilts

Your vantage point is limited at times depending on where you set up but I hunt both stands and blinds

Private land 100 percent but for public I like being mobile so like a lone wolf or a saddle or something
Yea i dont like my scent being ground level.i hunt in the hills and mountains and wind and thermals are hard enough being up in a stand
Hunting becomes extremely easy once you get your scent off ground level. Tree stand. O thing even knows you’re there
After falling out of my tree stand and surviving the last 5 years I've been hunting from the ground lethal set up ambushes like you're in the military works great

I’m still trying to figure out how to keep the black bears from messing them up. Might have to make my own or put a fence around it
Put up a sign that says “BEARS STAY OUT”. 🐻
That's the reason I quit using them . Thought bot trying to get a bear to come to tear up a ground blind but hang a stand over it to kill the bear lol
@@beneaglen4373😂 depends where you are might get fined, be careful but that’s funny ash😂
Draw a circle in the dirt around the blind
They Do Work !
What is the name of the shooting stand you use for your ravin?
Trees for me. You get up high enough and you don't really have to worry about the wind.
Yep. Blinds are ok. Can't beat elevation for the distance you can see. Plus easier to play the wind. Whatever works for ya, though.
Actually theres several alternatives to hunting....they all serve a purpose and at times they can all be effective... ... just like what weapon you choose to hunt with...yah gotta love the options it keeps us motivated and anxious....bsafe!
And when it's crazy cold that are warmer.
Just be safe and know whats behind your shot if you're hunting with a rifle shooting flat!
Using a $3000 cross bow with a $2000 scope to sit in a $200 ground blind. Why? Cause the advertising told him too.
You can put them anywhere but ya cant just plop it down and hunt. Ground blinds need set out before hunting season. The deer will spot it and will know it doesnt belong.

And then I saw the crossbow
Up against a fat tree with a camo potato sack with sticks, wrapped around you. With a recliner lawn chair 😊
Big neck,definitely in the rut.
Sounds like someone is afraid to climb up into a harness 🥺🥺🥺
You got a deer that close to you why use a bow? Just use a knife, be a man.
Whatever you say, there, champ.
Everyone is Rambo online. Lol
Mr badass here.

You educate more deer when hunting from the ground
Shoulder must hurt. Nice crossbow… syke
Agreed. Fuckin arrow rifle
A lot easier to be preachy about ground blinds when you using an arrow gun 😂😂😂

I stalk elk. I have to be walking. No way I can sit and hunt. I just walk slowly and look around. Keeping wind direction in my favor.
