I think ppl (mostly newer battle fans) are just wondering why people are gassing his mediocre bars since they aged pretty poorly. spitting multis while rapping fast is just boring 90% of the time, which is probably why nobody wants to see Rone battle anymore.

Man, Illmac wasn’t bad like people was saying. He was definitely not on his A game with this match but the crowd sucked and didn’t react to some fire bars. I honestly think it’s because some of the punches would’ve hit more on an American stage. Like the Graceland bar. Either way, Rone won and everyone’s moved on lol

This wasn’t his typical zone. He stumbled early first and was trying to remember the pepperoni set up but u could tell he couldn’t catch it so freestyled some shit in then caught it a few bars later. He was repeating to buy time. Like when Pat hit the Zombie flip against Hollow the first battle. He even said he kept saying “he’s right here” so he could come up with the flip. It’s a way to buy time when u aren’t sure of ur next line structure.
Well it was almost like Organic had it in his mind for Rone to be the face of KOTD once illmaculate took the crown from Pat Stay R.I.P.

1st round:
Rone: From the start, really biting and compelling content. "That crown was thrown at your feet." Really throughout roasting Illmac, the apple cores/albacor scheme was nasty. The ill conceive/illusion ill losing - Rone undoubtedly snapped, particularly in his long-winded multies. I really love the wordplay he brings. So well prepared and genuine. Yo, xtra small but thinks he's a medium. HAHA. I'm glad Rone went first honestly, he set the tone for this matchup. I don't care much for personals, but Rone made it fresh because he brings a variety to the table.
Illmac: So he started off attempting a rebuttal, it did not help him rebuild. Illmac's writtens started off strong for what it's worth, but "like a paroley" was mad awkward cuz he repeated it. Idk if it was a choke, but what followed after was decent. I think Illmac's round just needed more consistent material, more punchlines and flaunting of his lyrical ability. It felt improv, and awkward. I think the crowd was sleep for a reason - he didn't smoothly deliver his punches not once.I gave Rone the first.

Rone: the bit about what illmaculate tends to rap about was embellished but so on point. No bread/own head/id be that short with no leg scheme, shoot. Really nothing crazier than the first round til his ending, because that chain angle was really aggressive and well put.
Illmac: I fucked with the cheers scheme, but it's cuz I got it. Illmac put some more into this round, loved the pot roast/el chapo to nostrils bit. I think this was his best round if not the 3rd. Some comedy, a whole lot of wordplay. Crowd was being a good sport this round and it's deserved, but Rone's taken this round too.

Rone: Goes in on illmac's music, not that interesting, some cool wordplay follows and the cadence turned up. The "asian couldn't make you a success / 6s" bar was NUTS. The math scheme after the Pat Stay nonsense was sonically dope, idk about the numbers. Rone snapped about Illmacs conspiracy theorist shit, but transitioned into the short jokes again which were consistent but didn't do that much for me. The closing angle about Illmac turning old and the woman turning on this battle, and bringing in the bit from Illmac's 3rd vs Bigg K was superior. Just a tightly woven round from Rone.
Illmac: the rebuttal at the start of the round was well executed and the crowd rewarded illmac's effort. The wordplay game in full effect, i loved the P Diddy/remix angle and the mr manhattan shit. He was really doing his funnyguy shit tonight. But it didn't come off confident. YO, "Think To Pimp A Butterfly album - skits on you!" - WOO. That was bar of the night. The scheme that followed was nuts as well, and Illmac rapped his heart out for the remainder of the 3rd. I was really much more on the edge of my seat for Illmac's round, but either way it went it would have came to Rone for me ultimately.
2-1 Rone. They talk about fixed matches, but Rone is talented. He is entertainment, true, but it's what makes him entertaining - the sporadic wordplay, the hilariously clever disrespect and his educated aspect of battling that makes him not only well rounded but a real threat to any same-ol' emcees. Illmac is a veteran, and it's childish that they slept on a lot of his shit corny or not (because if people know you in kotd, they will cheer regardless), but if he was better prepared he could have been a challenge for rone in this one.

The thing is while illmac might have more intricate bars, rone is funnier, more interesting, more creative and off the beaten path, plus hes more entertaining. Theres multiple angles to battling outside of mind twisting bars. You gotta cater to the audience and frankly rone is so much more fun and interesting to watch its almost like night and day.

The reason people like Rone is because his raps are ambitious and understandable. One of my biggest pet peeves of current rappers is they can't hold an idea. As in, they say you're wack in one bar, then switch to you're ugly, and then to something about your mom before they've even finished a chorus. Hate him all you want, but Rone's bars are ingenious. The flow and lyricism supersedes 99% of rappers I hear nowadays.
This is definitely one of Illmac's weaker battles he just didn't go nearly as hard and clever as he can. Rone on the other hand had some fire, a win well deserved for him.

His whole ending 3rd scheme was done before and better by Illmaculate vs K, so he lost points for that big time(since it was also his biggest haymaker). Ill for sure won the 2nd, many people do,wasn't that close. And Ill's 3rd was a bit better, so I edged him the 3rd, so I had Illmac winning 2-1
There's no way he took the third, man. Maybe you just don't like Rone or his style of rap but Ill couldn't have taken 1 or 3. 2 is debatable, and usually called a draw and like I said: At the very best he drew, but there is no way he won. Ill's third was a snoozer and Rone smashed in the first.

He lost points for that huge haymaker whch was a carbon copy of Illmac's and Ill slightly edged it. I will say I appreciate Illmac's style more because I find it takes more skill and it's all around more interesting to me. Rone is nice as hell and has shown that many times, this just wasn't one of them to me. He was definitely engaging the crowd more, which worked back into his performance, but I wasn't feeling some those punches, even the too short to die for your country was just okay, I figured he'd embellish on it more. All in all, not nearly the best from either but I still say Illmac 2-1. This is my final decision after watching it 30x(once a day, so I can let it fully sink in.). Even off the PPV I had Ill 2-1.
Well you must have seen something different than most people who watched this battle. The ''Too short to die for your country'' was fucking hot fire, man. He hit Ill really hard, shook him several times, had personal bars (Mac had almost none) and his flips were better. I'll leave you to your minority opinion, though.
illmac was not in top form unfortunately. Didn't help that the crowd wasn't reacting to his shit very much. But Rone definitely came very strong. I could have done with less of the 'short' material, even though it is hard hitting. It's just kind of cheap at this point. His little story bit about illmac in the nursing home was one of the best schemes I've seen in a long time. That was the nail in the coffin for me.
I swear Illmac threw this battle on purpose, he's usually way better
