IF you decide to replace any floor. EXPECT it to be slow and will make a huge mess. You never know what you will find, like rotten boards to replace and old glue to remove. The last time I did this I found rotten boards and the lousy glue they used to much , it was a complete nightmare to replace rotten floor boards where the refrigerator use to sit.
@jireharabe6360 no... for my bathroom, I totally replaced the subfloor becasue this was the easiest thing to do (still hard, especially how to cut flush to the wall). For the laundry room, I had no patience, I just installed the vinyl floor on top and a floor reducer at the door frame.
boy what a late response. Sorry! They sell knock off's of these Burkey, Burkee Bars? Well, I got mine from the local concrete supply store. I'm sure you can find it online as well, but I seriously wouldn't give much credence to the little ones sold in the big box stores.
I did this and it was a great tip. I had particle board glued to 3/4" plywood.
Sitting here with an aching back after chipping off my floor all morning! Why oh why didn’t I view this earlier!
I just wanted to remove the carpet and install some porcelain tile. What did I get myself into...
The best way to remove that is use a skill saw, set the depth and cut thru it and use the pry bar to remove it in a small sections.
Great tip! Thanks. I've been carrying my floor out in buckets. This looks much better.
What is the var called and where can I purchase this?
They're called Burke Bars. I got mine from my local concrete supply store. Not the big box stores, go where pros go.
Omg thank you. I think this saved my back

Does this work for underpayment that is glued/stapled down?
I think it could. It wouldn't hurt much more than the cost of the tool if it doesn't. And it come in handy pretty often!
What is the bar used? Or where can you purchase it.
