Wow, thanks for sharing! I didn't know those blades existed for reciprocating saws. I've used walk-behind and riding floor scrapers on larger commercial jobs that work great, but for residential this looks like a great option. Can't wait to try this.
Did your scraper blades get dull after a while? Seems like that is the case for me, and the scraping becomes less effective after while. Also, we ended up cutting into the subfloor before we got the hang of it...
Yeah this sucks for sure... best I've come up with is a grinder style fenced zero clearance jamb saw. Set it to 0, it actually goes fast. A bit unwieldy but well worth that. Can get them from LL or bezos...
I would honestly just use a rotary hammer instead of a recip saw. However I would still use a recip saw to cut in to sections prior to using the rotary hammer.
I'm in the middle of this. It sucks. Been using a hammer drill to get the big chunks of particle board, then an angle grinder to "shave" the parts that are glued down. Did you do anything to fill the chunks taken otu of the plywood? How many hours did it take you to clear the 750-800 sq ft?
I am so sorry for the late reply. I don't get all my notifications. Since my reply will sure be irrelevant, I'll just say I hope yours went well. I hope to get more content up very soon.
@@paysonbiker haha, no worries. I finally got it done. Was a great moment when I shaved off the last piece of glued-down particle board! In the end, I used a much slower, but more precise method with large (and very sharp!) chisels. ruclips.net/video/6lKj4jZBerk/видео.html
I'm currently doing this in my formal room. Particleboard is truly the devils work :( But I'm really looking forward to laying down the cdx and then 3/4" hardwood, I will have a result worth the work EVENTUALLY :)

Hey, thanks so much for the comment! Good luck with the scraping! Honestly, I hope I don't have to do it again for a very long time :)
Thank you for posting this, I wasn't aware of a reciprocating scraper blade! Life saver, thank you!
Thank you I’m glad I saw this. I’m hoping this saves me a lot of time and energy tomorrow
Good ideas thanks for sharing, I hope you one day make a video how to make the stringers of the stairs
I don't frame stairs too often, other than on an occasional deck. I'll make a point to make a video the next time I do.

Thank u this was really helpful.

If I had had a rotary hammer, I'd have used it. For sure. I am a trim carpenter. It's RARE that I have to do any demo. Haha.
I mean the skirt in one open staircase, here in NC it called stringers
Oh, OK. Yes. It's actually really easy. (Easier than I thought it would be the first time I did one.) I'll do that. Thanks for the request, Felipe!

WARNING!! do not try this scraper blade if the floor has any nails in it!!!!
Bosch sds plus Bulldog with chisel blade will tear that up

Awesome! I'll bet that hardwood looks amazing!
I bet you are still having nightmares about this job
I’ve definitely not forgotten the hell of this job.
Your friend is destroying your plywood. My wife thought his method was a good idea, the destruction is evident
What a freaking nightmare
