this is a great talk! and very relevant to where I am right now. if possible, I'd like to take it even a step back - the entertainment industry is so varied and has so many options, all are fun and interesting - modelers, lighting artists, shading artist, concept artist, game designers, etc. after having a slight taste of many fields, I still can't decide what to concentrate on. I can't tell what set of skills I want to strengthen and well, become a professional in. I think this is really setting me back. I've had 1 year animating, 1 year producing a short film, a year designing for mobile and a year as a shading artist all this while drawing on the side. while having a lot of fun doing these, none of my skills got sharpened throughout this period.
Can you recommend an approach or a state of thought that might help me decide on a path that I can stick with for a longer period of time and might lead me to becoming a professional in my field?

Just my opinion, but right before you jumped to the finish of that monkey painting, it looked so much better without blurring everything to create a sense of speed. I'm really not a fan of blurring (a photo technique) in digital paintings in general.
