The Smugglers Room haha thank you man! I really enjoyed watching! I wish I could be as good at making stuff as you guys as you’re awesome! I actually made some Beskar steel the other day:)
@@mrfrostyface921 that's great! how did it turn out? I think that the more you 'practice' the better you get! Keep working at it and you'll see yourself improve more and more over time! You should see some of our really old builds and projects! We've grown and improved so much over time! Thank you again!
The Smugglers Room it turned out pretty good actually thanks for asking! I didn’t manage to do the stencilled pattern or the imperial logo so it is just really silver blocks of wood but it is pretty cool! Thank you for teaching me how to do it!!
You should make yourselves slopers, that way you can change, interchange the style and cut of your garments Iv been sewing for 40 years , and I loved this video ❤️❤️❤️
@@TheSmugglersRoom With me being someone with a rudimentary knowledge of a sewing machine it has emboldened me to make a jumpsuit when Halloween comes around. The way she described how she altered the pattern to get the next size up was very useful.
I bought my flak vest because I dont know how to sew or have room in my apartment for a sewing machine. Mrs. Smuggler made that look really easy. Lol. Cant wait for part 3. Thanks a lot Smuggler family.
Thanks!!! I do a lot of pre planning and looking at what's out there as far as reference, luckily we delayed this project from our initial plans and since, The Mandolorian came out and not there is a bunch of new reference material! Thank you for watching, we appreciate you.
My grandmother used to repair and modify clothing for me as a teenager..at the time , she probably had 50 years or so experience at it. Sewing is a underappreciated skill..
Agreed! It's just such a handy skill to have too, need a tie, you can make it, need some pants, you can make them, need a mando costume..... Thank you for watching!
Fantastic episode you two! I try to tell people all the time that building a kit is your own personal journey. Take your time, don't rush anything. I know that's easier said than done, but in the end having a full Mandalorian kit is very rewarding. Cant wait to see future episodes on these builds :)
Great job. I wish I could use the sewing machine like that. The only "but" I see is the Flak vest, it could use a little of padding. Not only for volume /protection illusion, but to hold armor plates and spread their weigh.
I love your wife's practicality. Planning the jumpsuit in two pieces to provide for bathroom breaks is so wise. That is always a concern of mine while planning out a costume. "Oooo! This will look cool! Wait! How can I go to the bathroom in this thing?" "Oooo! This will look cool! Wait! Do I have to stand all day?!?" "Oooo! This will look cool! Wait! How hot is it going to be on the day I wear this?"
Sewing machines and I used to have a rough relationship. The only output was a tangle of broken thread and broken needles. Then one day, I realized that the sewing machine is just another power tool. Since taking that point of view, I have had much better success. I'm not an expert, but I can construct basic clothing and costumes. I saw several techniques in this video I want to try out. Thanks, and I look forward to more sewing videos.
Hey! Brian, with the talent you and your wife have you should give yourself an additional chalenge and apply for the Mercs. Your talent and your video are inspiring and motivating. Great work👊
I am so happy that I found this before starting my son's Mandalorian project as the jumpsuit is the same pattern I will be using, I am impressed with her modifications and watching her do it, I think I might (as a sewing noob) try to do it as well.
Was watching your blaster build, and when you said you were working on mando suits, I had to come look! Haha, in 14 years of mando costuming, I have never had to actually go to the bathroom...I'm sweating too much. XD Of course, within about 30 seconds of getting all that gear off, the need to pee hits you like a baseball bat..... Nicely done on your soft goods! most folks don't make them from scratch!
Oh I wouldn't have thought of utilizing the weird zigzaggy stitch, but it turned out to be a neat little detail! :O I don't own a sewing machine and have no idea how to operate one... But the finished pieces look so good they make me want to try my hand at it one day. 😅
Wow, THIS is the way! I am always impressed with people who can sew and i'm blown away by how good yours is. I once tried to make a cushion cover... it took me a whole day, twice as much fabric as it should have and lots of swearing to come up with something the cushion didn't even fit in 😂. Fantastic work, you two make a formidable team
The Mando costumes are going to be so sweet, I can see you wanting to wear them around the house on the weekends!! Keep up the great work... also are there plans for another Friday night live show??? needs to happen. its very cool getting to hang out, and geek out, and have a few adult drinks!!

Really loving the videos on your page. I was wondering a few things about this video. May I ask what kind of fabrics you are using? It looks like cotton twill fabric, if I were guessing. Also, may I ask what the sewing machine is that you are using in this video? Thank you so much.
I think I know what you mean, Brian. This was very much over my head, but just THINK of the greeblies! There's probably a motor in there, some cool knobs... uh oh, I sense a disturbance in the Force...
The welding geek on RUclips has some good mando videos as well, he has a full metal mando that inspired mine, I’m using air duct galvanized steel plates from Lowe’s and formed them using pepakura templates.
At some point I hope to do my own take on a Madalorian, loosely based on the Heavy Infantry Mandalorian: Paz Vizla (voiced by Jon Favreau). As someone into historical arms and armour, his armour just seems the most functional to me. I never liked that pointless little segmented chestplate worn by most Mando's. Too many vulnerabilities. My Mandalorian will be armoured to the nth degree lol.
very nice!!! we're not doing the standard Boba Fett armor either, mine (Carissa) will be more one piece, if you will, because I agree with you!!! Would love to see shots of youb build when you start working on it!!! Paz Vizla is a great basis for the costumes design! Thank you so much for watching!
@@TheSmugglersRoom Aye, nothing wrong with doing a standard Mandalorian. Just not for me lol. But I'm glad to hear your doing a solid chestplate, guessing it'll be based on Pedro Pascals one piece armour? . Aye, I'll send you pics when i get it started. Yeah, I love how Paz's chest has fully enclosed sides and that he has enclosed thigh armour. I'm gonna add more substantial bicep armour and some neck armour to fully encase my Mando, I don't want a single obvious target to shoot or stab lol.
ahh!! I know!!! I bought an icecream maker, and I can promise we are going to do it. I am just struggling with making it totally functional. I have seen folks 3D print them, but I want to make it from the actual Ice-Cream machine . . . so soon!!!!
Are you planning on doing some leatherwork for a belt and maybe a bandolier? 'cause that's something I'm planning for my Mando in the near future.. but yeah, still trying to figure out what and how I want to achieve it and what tools etc I need for the final result. Looking forward to your next update - no matter what it'll be ;)
