    A sockeye hit a sculpin pattern!? That’s awesome!!! Great video!! Those filets look so red and good!

      Yeah, pretty crazy! I mean, it could have definitely been a coincidence... But I'm sure there are tons of sculpin at the bottom of that river, and I'm sure the salmon get super annoyed by them! 🙂✌️🎣

      That actually looks like a coho in the video! Were they cohos?

    I was at Upper Moose Meadaows on Thursday - lots of big fish. Saw limits in as little as an hour (3 at that time)

    Do you like fishing Moose Meadows? I tend to trip over the big rocks next to the green net!

    • @KevinRapkochFishing
      @KevinRapkochFishing  Год назад +1

      Haha, I nearly slipped on those rocks about 20 times in two days of fishing there!! But I did prefer the way the water flowed in the area I was fishing... I was able to get the weight down quickly and had a good feel for the bottom there. Was this video at Moose Meadows, or is Moose the next public rec stop down from where I was??

      Yeah, it's a great drift, but I got tired of tripping on the rocks! Enjoyed your video!@@KevinRapkochFishing

    Where did you buy your lure?

    • @KevinRapkochFishing
      @KevinRapkochFishing  Год назад +2

      I think I bought those in Utah for brown trout fishing; I put some links to some similar flies in the description of the video 🙂✌️🎣

    you do realize those fish are not biting; you are just flossing them. You could put on a bare hook and you'd still snag it in the head.

    • @KevinRapkochFishing
      @KevinRapkochFishing  Год назад +2

      Haha, Sockeye absolutely bite at flies when irritated. I literally watched 4 sockeye on the Russian turn and snap at my fly. If you need to floss them to catch them, you do you. But I neither have the leader length or the amount of weight needed to floss, especially in that current. You're assuming because you floss, and so many other people do, that I am... but it's not the case. 🙂✌️🎣

    • @sdufg
      @sdufg Год назад

      i know sockeye bite. in clear water i've caught them. but they were not biting in this video. the vis on that opaque water is 4-6 inches. and your fly positioning is classic set for a floss. I've been fly fishing about 35 years. you are wrong here. you'd have snagged as many with just a bare hook. ruclips.net/video/AT5GnFfTRZQ/видео.html @@KevinRapkochFishing

    • @KevinRapkochFishing
      @KevinRapkochFishing  Год назад +2

      @@sdufg nope; I didn't even have enough weight to drag on the bottom. I felt the sockeye bite and pull on the fly for both catches; I simply set the hook hard (you know by watching the video it was not a flossing motion), and hooked them in the mouth. How would the fly be on the inside of the right side of the mouth on the salmon that took a sculpin if it was flossed??? And the hook was on the bottom of the mouth; classic hook placement for a fly that was chomped down on! You've been fly fishing for 35 years... you should know that! Physics, man 🙂

      You are using weighted fly line. You understand what "weighted" means, right? It sinks. lol. @@KevinRapkochFishing

      @KevinRapkochFishing  Год назад +2

      @@sdufg hahaha; I was using floating fly line!!! Wow!! You want me to have been flossing so bad that you're just making up your own details. Think about that, man. It's pretty sad.
