+bisqueybusiness i would have to add key and peele and amy schumer in there to include all my comedy faves on tv right now, but these four would definitely be in there, too
@@sellersgarner As dislikable Amy Schumer is (especially as a stand-up), I just started her show Life & Beth and it's actually surprisingly enjoyable...
I love how they're just discreetly swinging on the chairs. Like they want to look professional, but on the inside, they're craving to swirl around, limbs outstretched and flailing wildly.
These guys have an amazing energy together. All the concept of improvising and daily comedy always attracted me, especially because I've been fan of the Thunderant videos (even listening to Sleater-Kinney, watching the SNL sketches or the Amy Poehler's work) before starts to see Portlandia, and I'm proud to see Carrie and Fred working together with such intusiasm and courage. Portlandia and Broad City is, in my opinion, one of the best comedian shows in these days.
Am I the only one who expected this interview between comedians to be hilarious and was totally let down that it was just a normal conversation between professionals?
Am I the only one who thinks it's weird how much Fred is trying to call Ilana & Abbi out for how little improv they used in the episode he was in? Like I can't tell if it's shade or not hahaha
Lila X I don’t know if he’s an actual sociopath. Having read a few articles about him, he is the one admitting he has intimacy issues, and sucks as a partner. I don’t think sociopaths can admit that stuff, don’t they rely more on heavy lies and deception, inflated ego and manipulation?
"No, you're not?" "It stuck to the script, pretty much." "So you don't use the fun runs as much?" "It was kind of in the script, right? That was a beat in it." Meh, it's probably just you.
All these comments are stupid. The entire point of this is that there’s no host it’s called Actors ON Actors for a reason. Obviously the conversation will go in whatever direction the ACTORS choose, simple. They may have wanted to appear professional which is understandable because this is a pretty big deal but of course we know them and love them for their goofy and quirky personalities on their respective shows. People should appreciate the opportunity to see this side of them. They’re not required to be funny and interesting 24/7 after all. I clicked immediately on this video because it’s the best match up of shows and actors you could ask for. They are talented. If you’re a true fan of these guys you wouldn’t be hating but I guess the negative people are the ones who take time to comment bullshit on RUclips interviews🤷🏾♀️
I think the issue here was that they needed a host. I think it's an issue with all of these actor on actor videos. They aren't hosts, they all want to shine and tell their story. That's the point of the host. Without a host it has created this weird dynamic of exhausted people of different experience levels and fame trying to define who was the least dominant/important person present who could do the question asking and let the others shine. It's too much of a social pressure puzzle to put on exhausted people to try and balance questioning with answering without making it awkward. They also don't do their research like a host would, to know what to ask each other about. I think they all acted weird and we should give them a break.
I think if they had more time working with their vibes, something truly genius could've come out of these 4 great actors. In 11 mins they were barely getting their toes wet.
I can't really recall anything else Carries done comedy wise other than Portlandia (maybe it's just me). I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure she is primarily a musician. The vibe in this vid is weird for sure but I don't think there's shade going on...Fred has more of a comedy background than Carrie it seems so maybe Carrie feels out of place or something? idk. I'm just taking a guess.. Carrie doesn't come off as rude to me, just more of a reserved person in general. I'm pretty reserved and I've had plenty of people tell me they thought I didn't like them or that I came off as intimidating or stand off-ish (even though I'm like one of the nicest people lol) when we first met because I usually don't say much so I get it.
I remember seeing her in the movie Tag, where she played a bureaucrat/therapist, and either her character or her take just fell flat. I bet she requires a level of comfort to let the magic happen. Her stuff in Portlandia is warm and funny, but that's playing with her friends. I'd also bet that she has a hard time faking comfort, like an actor might be able to swing.
I love Iliana and Abbi. They are so genuine and fans. I love Portlandia’s first season and then they did start getting plot points and character development but it wasn’t as funny as the improvised material.
Portland is no joke. Legal sex dungeons, there was a pink building specifically for webcam girls, and we got a passive aggressive note from our recycle guy when we didn’t break down our booze boxes.
Pretty childish how Fred kept probing at them about how often they improvise as if trying to degrade their reputation as comedians. You're nearing fifty and you have to make low blow comments to someone twenty years younger than you to make you feel good about yourself...😒 Those remarks put such a bad taste in my mouth about him; Illana and Abbi seemed really uncomfortable when he kept mentioning it. Meanwhile Carrie is just glaring at them the entire interview obviously uninterested. Just saying, I don't know much about Carrie or Fred but im assuming they're much more seasoned as comedians and you can tell Illana and Abbi look up to them; it's unfortunate.
Cody Fortier there's a lot of people that say he is an emotional abuser and manipulator and those little slights are just showing that he is that way. It's very subtle but I've heard he's really fucked up in the head. Good at hiding it tho but yeah he's condescending
Cody Fortier I feel like your reading too much into it. I think he would've been as shocked if they were men and stated their show was totally improvised. Fred was charming towards them but as a seasoned comedian with a hit show for so many years & SNL under his belt; he smelled the bullsh*t. lol
I mean the two met in improving groups so that as a fallow up question wasn't terrible, but I did suspect they asked that question only to be asked in return, considering Portlandia has a fair amount of improv. I wouldn't write Fred off too much because of it.
you can tell at this point abbi has done the work of taking a pause in speech to usurp the occurrence, while ilana hasn't worked on it as much yet. it'll come with time and more exposure.
Hmm...did I remember to change the batteries in my car flashlight? I must get a new pair of converse, perhaps navy blue this time. Oh, did I mention...pickled herring? Yeah feta!
here they are. my four favorite people on television.
+bisqueybusiness i would have to add key and peele and amy schumer in there to include all my comedy faves on tv right now, but these four would definitely be in there, too
Do you still like Schmer a year later? Seriously i'd really like to know.

MOEMOE Chainsawmaid or maybe they're nervous
No.
Hey thats a pretty facile observation!
Many comedians are introverted, serious & quiet.
That's where your talent flourishes a bit.
How come no one’s talking about how Carrie and Abbi ended up dating and how Abbi wrote a book about how Carrie broke her heart
Xandra yooooo!!! i was wondering who Abbi was talking about i had no idea it was carrie!
Because this was filmed in 2015.
DEETZ
Whaaaat!?
Wasn’t it unconfirmed?
7:01 The look of panic on Fred's face when he thinks their work is entirely improvised
Portland: "I love you New York."
New York: "No I love YOU Portland."
...now kiss.
They're literally whispering the whole time lmao
this would be much better if we dropped in 6 drinks deep
Devin O'Toole yoo they're should be something like this but they getting drunk during it. it would be so much more interesting and free lolz
Graham Norton style, bitchaaaaaaaas.
Devin O'Toole agreed, they all look terrified
Yesss!
freaking LOVE broad city!! can't wait for the next season
Carrie's outfit it perfection. The shoes alone are amazing.
best 2 tv shows and best 4 actors come together. squad. goals.
my four favorite people and two favorite shows!!! LOVE IT.
I CAN'T TAKE ANY OF THEM SERIOUSLY, THEY'RE EACH SOO EFFING FUNNY.. BOTH SHOWS ARE IN MY TOP 10 COMEDY SHOWS!
this is so awkward... they look so distant yet you know they are trying
omg what have i done to receive this blessing?!
omg 02:36 ilana mentions a league of their own!!!
Love all four of them.
LOVE LOVE LOVE! Two of my most favorite shows in the whole world
I love that Carrie gave props to Kids in the Hall. They were probably the biggest influence on my sense of humor.
These 4 and Amy Poehler are my 5 favorite comedians/actors
omg. i also forgot that Fred was in the pilot lol

With each other as duos, but there was virtually no chemistry collectively in this.
This was a very enjoyable Actors on Actors.
swivel chairs promote interesting conversation
LOVE this video! They are all such wonderful, funny, innovative individuals.
This pairing video is awesome. Wish it was longer. Hope you can make more.
Two of the best comedies ever made!!
This combo is everything!
🔥🔥🔥
Carrie is so well spoken (really emphasized in this discussion..)
Fred's "no you're not" lol
took until 2:34 to realize that this is not a Portlandia skit
Am I the only one who expected this interview between comedians to be hilarious and was totally let down that it was just a normal conversation between professionals?

The Black Velveteen he's a cmanipulator/borderline Sociopath so he probably is. He's really good at seeming normal though
The Black Velveteen you're blowing it out of proportion
I would be lying if I didn't say both Carrie and Fred rubbed me the wrong way in this.

Victoria I agree. I felt there was a lot of interruptions and ppl talking over one another. It was just kind of awkward.
I’ve seen a couple of actors on actors interviews and they all have this sense of awkwardness, so I agree a host would’ve probably helped
It’s supposed to be just a conversation, this video it’s just how these personalities meshed
For 2 funny ass shows...I will say this was very dry and a bit boring with a splash of weird tension.
🎯 💯 👏 🎯 💯
Get them some wine lets liven this up a bit
SCTV and Kids In The Hall were both CBC gems!
We need this again but in a more relaxed setting and different clothes.
Illana is so into it, and Carry seems super jaded....like she's thinking, "these bitches will be sad one day"
Anna Chase lmao
haha too deep!
Reserved seems to be a more apt description
I think if they had more time working with their vibes, something truly genius could've come out of these 4 great actors. In 11 mins they were barely getting their toes wet.
sleater-kinney is an amazing band. plz look them up..or bikini kill they were amazing as well..they also have big ties to bands like Nirvana
I saw this collab and immediately and unconsciously yelled oh my FUCKING God

Two of my favorite shows
Catherine O'Hara shoutout !
THIS IS SO GOOD
this was wierd and Fred and Carrie made it so..almost like they were arguing with Ilana and Abi...so wierd.
the simultaneous collapse at the mention of Catherine OHara lol
I love Iliana and Abbi. They are so genuine and fans. I love Portlandia’s first season and then they did start getting plot points and character development but it wasn’t as funny as the improvised material.
2 of my favorite shows ❤️
Love all of these peeps.
kids in the hall was hilarious use to watch when I was 14 in 1998 on comedy central
Seriously. My top two favorite shows
They're all so nervous!
Love these 4
😭😭😭I love them
please, if you watch fred on his episode of comedians in cars getting coffee, you would know he really is this awkward and weird lolololol
and uhhh.... not funny? yea.
Portland is no joke. Legal sex dungeons, there was a pink building specifically for webcam girls, and we got a passive aggressive note from our recycle guy when we didn’t break down our booze boxes.
You should break down your boxes.
I think it’s hysterical that Fred is considered a sociopathic womanizer in his personal life. I know it’s not ok but it’s fucking funny as hell
Read a comment he is a sociopatNeber heard of the womanizer part though🤯

@@liluhaas oh my just read a comment he is a sociopath n womanizer. Why is everyone saying that apart from the wife stories? Can u elaborate?👉👈
all my favs together :))))
Fred! 💜
The pressure is on now for Broad City.
they have no chemistry together
I can't believe this is a thing
this SHOULDVE BEEN A CROSSOVER HOUR LONG EPISODE BROAD PORTLANDIA.. PISSED
Must have been cold in there..
They are all so smart I’m so intimidated
1:07 the broad city girls totally leave carrie hanging!
i think she was probably mocking them ._.
new drinking game. every time someone says "like", down a shot. you'll be wasted within,LIKE,2 minutes. lol.
YAAAAAAAAAAAAS KWEEEN
I honestly find both of these shows super annoying but I'm obsessed with both of them and watch them everyday so there's that 😂
Ilana da besssssssssssssss
kinda meta Ilana mentioned A League of Their Own
i don't see the bad energy people are talking about
Why do comedians take themselves so serious? Like just say something general and relatable
haha its kind of ironic
LemonadePie it's like raaayeeyaayn
How is this EIGHT YEARS AGO!!!!
wow. fred is so quite.
oh wow is this when Abbi and Carrie met????????
my 2 favorite fucking shows
oki get it! hahahaha so funny! this is a good bit! lol
How many times is the word "like" used?
you can tell at this point abbi has done the work of taking a pause in speech to usurp the occurrence, while ilana hasn't worked on it as much yet. it'll come with time and more exposure.
What is it that abbi has seen of fred armisen's? Underhands? What did they say
Who's the dark haired girl in white?
I feel that Jacobsen and Glazer would be a show within Portlandia.
can the 4 of them just keep playing themselves and do a show together, improvising the WHOLE time???
Good shit.
drooling
yeah kids in the hall!
Hmm...did I remember to change the batteries in my car flashlight? I must get a new pair of converse, perhaps navy blue this time. Oh, did I mention...pickled herring? Yeah feta!
Lots of uptight whiners in the comments...
Right. Same thing I said.
Yep
Like, like, like, like--

‘no you’re not👀’
didn't realize fred and carrie were so pretentious irl :/
seems like you find mundane things very sophisticated because you are a dumbass, and think they are pretentious because of it
nope they're pretentious alright. not to mention completely unfunny.
Bring on the humor
