I think I liked the old format of these better. It really did feel like the questions were coming from fans... now it just feels too spiced, so much "seasoning" and reworking the questions from the interviewer😒

The host making out Gorges P3 was some kind of masterclass like when Lewis won the British GP in 2008. Calm down he was a nailed on P5 but for Sainz and Perez crashing and was miles behind the leaders. Shov put it into perspective though.
He effectively did exactly what Sainz and Checo did but for a lower position and kept it out the wall (easy to do when you're not fighting anyone)

@@davidbrown8517 so is that not what happened? Lewis lied in an interview or? I don’t see how quoting the driver makes it as I haven’t got a clue about motor racing with no explanation. They changed his setup from Friday to Saturday fp3 where it started feeling wrong and they didnt realize a component was built incorrectly until after qualifying.

So, let's get this straight. The team thought it was better to hange a setup so the car would turn the corners side the thought it was a good idea to take a grid pen and fall out of top ten that start from P7?
Somethings not adding up. A tema fighting for P3 in WCC wouldn't sacrifice points if it wasn't a more serious issue with the pu (which they said it wasn't the pu) or a fault with the car.
These debrief are starting to look like cover-ups to me. Either that of they think their fans are so gullible that they would believe anything without asking questions.
The problem with these debriefings is that most of us do not have the technical skills to really put the information presented in the right perspective. Due to that deficiency it's hard to evaluate what is 'true' and what is 'less true'. Experiments were done on Lewis' car, Toto confirmed that to a German journalist but we don't know if the decision to put them on his car were his choice. We do not often see experiments done using George's car.

He did, practice is practice, they were doing low fuel runs and the times were better. George had a power unit issue, they replaced the power unit by the last 20 minutes or FP2, and it was an older power unit. Not sure why Lewis couldn’t get tires up to temperature in qualifying but there are factors when that can happen, not sabotage. The real question here is why LH fans assume Lewis can always outqualify George when he hasn’t other than sparingly for two years.

The response to the last question makes no sense. If you look at the trend of the season, there have been barely any safety cars. Yes, I understand. Historically, there have been safety cars early on in Baku, but this season, especially recently, there have been no safety cars, so it doesn't make sense to have lewis on mediums. Also, lewis had even slower cars around him starting pretty much last than Norris did around him at p15.

The lack of safety cars is quite puzzling. Until at least a few years ago we had safety cars in the majority of races, so what happened? Is it just a statistical anomaly? Mercedes may have painted themselves in a corner, as they only had one set of hards for the race for whatever reason. This further limited their options, as the medium tire was quite a poor tire on the Mercedes. Starting on the hards may have helped Hamilton at the beginning of the race, but it could have been risky in case of an early safety car, as he would be forced to stay out and switch to the mediums later on, or do two stints on the mediums later on. In both scenarios he would have to make a stop under green racing conditions, but perhaps they should have taken the risk.
How was the experiment on Lewis's setup successful? He was struggling with the car the whole race and even said to his engineer Bono, "You see how I'm having to drive this thing?"
His car set-up was pretty bad indeed, even though he got a second chance to optimize it for the race as he started from the pits. Of course it's not easy to make these blind changes to the car, but it seems the set-up was worse than in qualifying, not better.

Hmmm, as far as I know when to change engines is usually planned prior given no problems arise. So let's look at what we know 1.) No problems were found with Lewis's engine 2.) This engine change was not planned as if it were you would have changed it way before qualifying. So I don't buy the bs that you just wanted to get it out of the way, especially given Lewis although qualified p7 was still a pretty decent grid slot. All seems dodgy
I mean Lewis lost an engine in Melbourne and he does need a another PU to make it to the end of the season, they knew they were pretty weak at this track. By taking the new PU now they lose very little point as to losing a good chunk of points or maybe even the race win in places like Singapore, Austin and Brazil where the Mercedes is pretty good. I don't think its shady, a company would not want to ruin its reputation by sabotaging its biggest driver.
They had a bad component on the car for qualifying, they had to break parcferm to fix it. I don't know why they didn't mention it.

1. You take PUs pens on grids where overtaking is easy so you can make your way back into the points
2. Baku is one of the hardest for overtakes
3. He had sl speed to overtake but they decided to make him overtake 6 car with better sl speed from p19 instead of ...none from p7....does that sound like a the smart choice?
3. They could take a ou in AUSTIN or Brazil. They didn't have to take it in Baku...unless they're omitting a more serious reason for a change in car setups that would make it necessary to start from pits.
You see, you're right. He needs one so why not take it? We'll to my understanding, doesn't George need a pu? Why didn't they do it here? I mean it makes so much sense to them and GR was only 2 places ahead.

@@bniceuk8207 Yeah but they are bringing an upgrade in Austin and Singapore has suited them better and Mercedes is not that bad anymore. It is capable of race wins but if we take a new PU there we might lose the chance to win at Singapore, Austin and Brazil. These are the tracks that suit the Mercedes and at Baku they didn't have much race pace so they might as well take it now.
Last time Mercedes f1 said that weight loss does not gain you lap times 🥴🥴

Lewis lost an engine in Australia. Russell in Silverstone. According to reports, Russell's engine was turned-up a bit more than Lewis's in Silverstone, which lead to the issues. The team miscalculated the temperatures and it lead to Russell's problems. That was all to ensure Russell beats Lewis.
In Spa, Russell started the race 1.5 kg lighter. The team took a gamble. They knew exactly what might happen. Again, all to give him an edge over Lewis.
All the talk of Russell being sabotage, come-on. Russell has all the support and all the advantage. Yet, his fans want to call his mediocricy, "badluck". On top of all of his support, they claim he needs a whole heap of luck.
Meanwhile Lewis has been fighting with one hand tied behind his back. Guess who's leading in the championship.

Reading the comments here should tell Mercedes exactly what fans are thinking about the team now. It's a shame what has been happening. Just listen to Shov's explanation on why they started Lewis on Mediums - which was a blunder. So ridiculous. I am glad Lewis is moving to Ferrari next year. You guys don't deserve him anyway.
You go to the pitlane with a 70+ lap race, so that your driver has more time to work through the field. P7 for LH gave Merc P4 in Canada. Thats massive points

How did lewis suddenly struggle to find a setup on saturday when his car was perfectly fine on friday. It seems like the cars were swapped, george struggled mightily on friday and suddenly was better on saturday. This video feels like a whole lot of propaganda and its sad that its not only involving a 7 times wc but the only driver of african descend on the team. I have lost all respect for Mercedes, and Shov has just become a straight up liar. None of what he said is true here. Toto literally said they used Lewis as a test, and that test "was helpful." But Lewis was literally yelling to Bono, "Do you see how I'm having to drive this car?" during the race. There's no way Lewis chose to change his car to what it was Sunday. He said the car drove great Friday and Saturday morning. Mercedes keeps screwing him because they're mad he's going to Ferrari. I hope Mercedes never wins another championship for as long as I'm alive.

Power unit aside...This is not a once off. From the outside it just seems to look blatant. Some things are just inexplicable. GRs underweight saga, Tyre Temps issues and the notion that the only good data collected is when 44 has to carry some extra work. RBR performed best when they built the car around Max. How difficult is that to understand. If GR is ready to win multiple championships and has nothing to learn from 44 why was GR studying 44s data to improve.

Guys, we get it, putting focus on your new main pilot as your older one departs. Also don't want them to compete directly for confidence of younger. It makes sense, but to effectively demote Lewis to tester to scrap some data for development for next year is underwhelming to say very least, if not insulting.

Please try and keep the interviewer the same in each race video, the level of questioning drops when you keep changing the host!! Another thing the street circuit problem of starting on the hard tyres, Mercedes are contradicting themselves at this point because the put Lewis on hard to start the Monaco gp putting him at a disadvantage in that race, knowing there will almost certainly be a safety car.

Mercs I hope you all realise that nobody is buying what you're saying. Wrong tyre temps, lack of information to Lewis during a race, wrongly fitted components. You don't have to be a Lewis fan to see the sabotaging going on in order to make Russell look better in order to please your shareholders. How many times do you plan to mess with his qualifying before people clock on, and when they do what else are you going to do to make sure Lewis finishes behind Russell in the wdc. You only got a few races left. Shame on you guys.
This team is the reason why Lewis has 7 world championship titles. Without Lewis, the team would also have been world champions in 2014-2016 and 2019/2020. I would have hoped for a little more gratitude from the Hamilton fans, instead everyone is always whining. It's just embarrassing. I wish the Tifosi good luck and patience with the hardcore LH44 fans. You will need it ✌️.

Mercedes is a midfield team now, Lewis did the right thing going to Ferrari. Mercedes will have no fans next season and another midfield car that races Haas and Williams. Just remember this when you see them next year.
