I used to live right across the road from Towne Lake (Barker Cypress) before it was built. The neighborhood is called Canyon Lake Village. It is a small and older section of Stone Gate, and it is actually apart of Houston (77095).
Seems like every time I watch a video about moving to Cypress the only thing people show off is Town Lake which looks like very few options for food and entertainment. Besides TL and the Outlet is there anything else this area has to offer?
Hi Terry! Towne Lake is such a nice place to live, so it’s worth the hype. Yes, there are lots of restaurants all long 290 West freeway/highway as well.
Bridgeland and townelake aren’t cypress, it’s in the Cy-fair district, but that’s not the cypress neighborhood, it takes me 15-20 minutes to get to these neighborhoods from my neighborhood, but I would absolutely recommend moving here if you’re starting a family, everything is within a 10-15 minute drive, and the schools are some of the top in the state of Texas, I grew up here and I can confirm it’s a great area to grow up in
Thank you for commenting! The addresses for the Bridgeland and Towne Lake neighborhoods I visited were indeed, Cypress Texas. It was not a Houston Texas address. :-)

What communities around Houston have new homes construction in the $300,000 - $400,000 range? We are a retired couple and empty nesters looking for a quiet safe location within a 20 - 30 minute drive to the city. We are also considering San Antonio and the DFW area.
Hi there! 35 minutes is more realistic to be in the suburbs for travel to the city. Right now, there’s new construction in that price range in Katy, Richmond, and Sienna area. Dallas is more expensive..

When I was a kid I passed by Towne Lake during its construction every day so it was nice to see it in person last year.
It’s really grown a lot! There’s only one section left before the close out for any new construction.
