Walmart documentary - a business mini movie from MagnatesMedia about the rise of Walmart. Walmart is the largest company in the world by revenue, making over 600 billion dollars a year. And yet, Walmart’s founder was born into poverty, growing up on a farm during the great depression. He was even told by his boss that “he wasn’t cut out for retail work”. And so the story of how Walmart’s founder built this gigantic business empire is incredible. But to some people, the Walmart story is a tragedy of unethical corporate greed gone too far. Because during its rise, Walmart has faced countless scandals, evidence of large scale bribery, and has brutally crushed its competition using cut-throat business tactics. So, it’s time we delve into the insane true story of Walmart. If you’ve ever wondered how Walmart started, how walmart got so big, or how walmart became successful, this is the business story for you! This is the history of Walmart and Sam Walton. #Walmart #Business #Documentary #businesssuccess #businessstories

Great to hear that progress has been made! 💪😎👍

Gotta love how literally any story can be made into a fascinating 30-min documentary by Magnates. Great work guys.
I really enjoy their story telling.
It's always dudes that have survived the Great Depression that make us depressed.
fr
Lol I know
One thing we can learn from them is that they all have thing in common: pain
Also being white
@@Mr.PDF_File sorry, it didnt have to be white. Because there are many other companies exist all around the world..
Going from being told you’re not cut out for retail to creating Walmart is such a flex
I wonder if Sam ever sought out his former boss at JC Penney's and gloat? Probably not.
My dad told me he was working at a grocery store in Kansas City in the 80’s. Sam Walton came in and asked everyone how much they were getting paid. Then opened stores in the area and paid them more.
My dad worked at Walmart from early 80s through mid 90s and they didn’t have to watch any of those videos or crazy stuff like that and they always paid overtime and the employees generally liked working there. My grandmother worked there for 26 years through that time as well. There may of been bad stores but when Sam was alive it wasn’t bad. Yes he wanted employees to work hard and do their jobs but he was fair and offered good stock options for rewards or instead of bonuses
From my time at Walmart I can vouch that the old timers all said the same thing. It all went downhill once Sam passed away.
Also I was a manager and we had to watch the videos and we're given a 800 number to report Union talk. Didn't want to use it as we didn't want our store to develop plumbing issues....😂
The return of MagnatesMedia is a welcome distraction from anyone else, including social media. Such a interesting RUclips channel
It's seems like the secret to wealth is starting a company and then going public. Every time these founders bring the company public, it suddenly turns into a 9-figure millions giant with unstoppable funding that allows them to crush the competition and grow extremely fast.
That is very true and the most ironic about it some don’t even make profiles for years an example is Amazon Amazon was losing money but Jeff bezos wasn’t interested in profits he was interested in market share and when Amazon took most of the market share he became the richest person in the world Amazon makes most of its money from Amazon web services not the online store. Most people don’t know that.
That's even funnier if you try it whit the new Gen Z/Gen Alpha. Playing whit psycology is the key i guess..
One of the methods. Think about it: if you have access to billions in equity funding (because investors love your business), then you have billions to reinvest and scale your operations. Done with the right management, there’s no way you wouldn’t become wealthy.
tell that to 23andme they went public & it went so bet that they’re a penny stock now lol
@@Bwilli1990wym web services give examples ?
Sam journey from poverty to building Walmart is a remarkable testament to resilience and strategic vision. It's a powerful reminder of how business models can evolve to meet market demands while also shaping industry standards. 👏
Yeah, and ruin people's lives left and right 🙄 was it really worth fucking over people who helped him, small stores run by families that need the money and their own employees?
U saying this while buying goods from walmart or costco because of their cheap price.we as comsumers benefited from this @@smalachit1571
Lets not forget none of this would have been happening if he didnt marry into a wealthy family by accident
The amount of movie clips you use is nothing short of amazing. I recognize all the little clips and it really helps convey the story sometimes. For instance when you used the money on the bed scene from the movie "The aviator"- it definitely helps create depth in your videos. Bravo! Bravo!
I have learned a lot from these videos that I can confidently say I'm business literate. John, you deserve my appreciation 🙏
Can we just appreciate how much work this guy puts into his videos❤❤❤
For this video. Nope. Seems like his previous editor left.
@@debby_wisewhy tho?
@@OsDijider66 The editing style is low quality here. No animation or effects just movie scenes. and few graphics.
@@debby_wise I mean he never was his editor. Even if the editing quality goes down he's still the same so I don't think I get the point of your comment
True. Here he is just using key frames only.
Before there were nice animations and also 3D camera was immensely used and Parallex effect also.
Yea I guess his editors left
I waited until my coffee was set, my mind was clear, and I was ready to view. Testament to this channel's quality.
You make the best documentaries it is always worth the wait

I worked for Sam's Club for five years until they decided to Farm out the Demo jobs to another company which started in Bentonville Arkansas but moved to Irvine California. I'm sure it was a close friend or relative. They laid off 15K people overnight, including managers, of the Demo Dept. Most Demo members were long term employees who could no longer do their old jobs and got retired to Demos along with their higher pay, accrued benefits, sick and vacation time, etc. Now those jobs were going to lower paid employees from outside contractor. Yeah, Walmart doesn't care about employees. They still keep a close eye on anyone bringing in Union plans to employees. It's a quick way to get fired. Walmart's Favorite Motto was and is still...Hire people with strong backs and weak brains. So go ahead and work there, if that's the only job in town...otherwise, it wouldn't be on my list of great employers.
I like this one. I've seen a lot about Sam in documentaries on the old history channel. Worked for Walmart and heard things there as well. This has a good thorough break down of his beginning that some documentaries didn't have. I followed on Twitter and your quality has gone up over the years and you have survived that copyright strike facade. So keep up the great work man!🎉
I rambled and shared a story. Had to edit in my original comment. This is what I sidetrack to. When I was at Walmart I heard about a store manager that had him tour his store a long time ago. He was told a bit in advance but he had freight out the ears😮. So he had people put the pallets on top of the roof with a forklift and pallet jacks. Sam showed up, toured his store. Praised him. Then shook his hand when he was leaving at the vestibule. Sam told him he can take the freight off the top of the roof now.
He flew in on his helicopter that day lol
This is brilliant. First he found a way for low cost-high return, then he found investors or business partners who can invest for low cost via stocks. Now it is time to expand walmart via opening a branch on the Moon and Mars
For low cost but more space tourists
Hey John! Just a quick suggestion. I have noticed that videos with more simplistic thumbnails, without pictures of people with overexaggerated facial features and effects(like your Ikea, Tencent, and Nike videos), tend to get significantly more views than videos with thumbnails that have images of exaggerated facial expressions/effects. I also personally feel like clicking videos with more simplistic thumbnails. I think you'd benefit by making more of such thumbnails. Great videos btw!
Agreed
That's not the case at all. It is more about the topic of the video.
Hi Magnates! Nice to see you uploading! I really like the work you do, especially your editing and research into your videos!
Walmart bought Asda here in the UK my friend owns a small shop very near one every year he had to get his license to sell alcohol renewed every year they would try to block him . He would always win as he had been there longer . The funny thing is since Walmart sold Asda a few years ago has not happened again they are predatory.
Blame the government not the company… why should the govt choose who can sell alcohol it only makes it harder for the little guy
@@tomkeane1331 well the government should choose who sells alcohol otherwise there would be madness just because you are an adult who owns a shop doesn't mean you should be able to sell alcohol there has to be oversite.
You know its a good day when magnates media uploads.
Also keep up the good work I love your videos ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Magnates out here turning hollywood movies
I'm not on those other platforms to see the extras but, I'm truly glad to be able to enjoy this quality content! 😊

Sam seems like he was a genuinely good guy and businessman. His children and grandchildren that run the company now? Not so much.
Thanks I really enjoy these simple but punctual documentaries
WOOHOO! another update from MM! Cant wait to listen to this at work tonight!

Amazing videos, cinematically artistic in the most optimal way possible

I've been waiting for this one for a while, very much looking forward to it!! I myself worked for Walmart for almost 5 years. And I'm planning to go back to work for them as a truck driver in the near future! I know a lot about the history of the company, so I'd love to get your take on everything!!!😁
Bro John thanks for the great quality videos bro they really inspire my creativity
thank you for another quick upload, i have been waiting looking at your channel everyday.
I worked at Walmart in 2019 and they were still forcing us to watch these hypnotic videos ever single fay
Too soon to judge but soon enough to appreciate your regular work and documentations!
As always, top quality videos. Can't wait to see you in mainmedia stream
Been waiting for you too drop another great video… thanks
Such an inspirational video❤
I love how it’s always ‘The insane true story of…’ 😂 & it always is ❤ love your work.
As someone who has worked there in recent years they are an absolutely terrible place to work and they basically subsidize their poor wages by giving you all sorts of information in the orientation on how to apply for food stamps and government assistance. I've worked a lot of places in retail and the store level management is the worst I've experienced by far. Walton may have built a huge company but it certainly isn't a good one.
Another awesome video. Well done 👏🏻
I just thought the other day, it's about time for another Magnates video. Yay!
He uploaded!!
perfection as usual
MagnatesMedia editing is world's best editing I ever seen.
Your narration makes any viewer dream big ❤ , nothing wrong in being ambitious and working towards it
Finally a new video! Been having to compromise with alternative channels until a new release is out.
Amazing video. Love your content
12:38 that's so amazing, because not even when I apply for a job at these stores, will the management team even speak to me 😂. It's amazing how, seemingly, the entire world just bows down and cows tow to the protagonists in these success stories.
Great video, missed your content ❤
I wish some of this was accurate…. Small shops in small towns gouged customer for years.. Walmart made them become honest or fail. Walmart also created jobs in small towns and poured insane amounts of tax money back in. Oh but we forgot to mention that… hhhmmm
Always enjoy your content
I love these videos. I would like if you would mention the founders net worth, especially in rags to riches stories and mention some of the notable luxuries they have/had when they die. Like how many houses our boats they had ect.
Love what you do! You are a legend
Dude these vids are so good 😮

Hurray 🎉 new video ❤ John
Right now is worse than great depression
A company becomes great when they can innovate themselves. An innovation that other competitors have never done before. This innovation will become a new standard practice in the industry. The point is be different by being the only one who can do what you do.
Been watching every vid for a few years now, love the content. For any viewers here, what are some similar type channels that I'd like if I love Magnatesmedia? (I'm addicted to videos)
Did it again magnates
