I'm a 3D artist and have always found digital painting to be very, very hard. I've never been very good at traditional art in general but I absolutely love your videos! They're so inspiring and make me want to try even harder! Thank you!
This has to be the best “How to…” video ever made, very well explained. I agree with the fact about liking how the brush strokes look will make you paint more. When one first start to digitally paint, one of the main issues is not liking how this or that brush looks or feels. There's nothing like creating your own to help you express yourself through your paintings.
I just discovered your channel and the only thing I can say is "wow, that's beautiful". It's really inspiring what you do and I hope one day I can achieve that level of creativity. Keep up the good work
this tutorial was absolutely calming and very helpful. i've always used photoshop just for my graphic design but i ventured into digital art a few months ago and only stuck mostly to using the basic and slow brushes. thank you for this!!
Thank you for posting this. Amazing content and your method of presentation with your laid-back kind of voice it's fun to watch while very informative. Thanks again.
Ure helping me a lot. With so much different things that u can't even imagine. Thank you so much. I'm gonna start to help u on patreon, and thank u through there. Ure an inspiration. Ure amazing
Very neat way of making a tutorial. I enjoyed it a lot. Thank you! I was surprised I've somehow managed to recognize the background music from Pandora Journey - The Tree of Life, by Scott Buckley.
hello, thank you very much for the tutorial! it really helped me to create my own though i think it wasnt really that great, but the sense of achievement and knowing i made this my own is there yknow.. hehe but one more thing, how do u paint around the clouds and hills freely without it going outside the blue background? is there any tricks? thank u!
Awesome video Olof, I was wondering you're using transfer with your flow settings set to pen pressure but not your opacity. why are you not using pen pressure for opacity?
2:55 HELP, I have tried to put that brush on all the pages and got it, but photoshop seems to display them differently. It seems as if my photoshop forbids brushes that start with a small tip and end with another small tip. I always wanted to get a brush that looked like that, but now I realize I have that problem after 1 year of using it.
Hi, when I use my paint brush tool, painting different colours on top of each other leaves the top colour with a shadowy 3D style, how do you stop this?
Very cool! - an open question... is there a significant difference between painting in Illustrator vs photoshop? (or is it a matter of taste?) - Thanks!
You cant see the layers here, but I first painted the blue frame on one layer, and then set another above to be a clipping mask to the frame later. You could also start by painting the frame and then lock transparency on the layer. Works both ways.
None of my brushes in photoshop behave like any of the ones in your video. Like I Just got a full solid whatever shape it is no matter what. Is it because I am using a mouse or? It has always been this way and I was always so confused by people who paint like this. I am so lost. I assume there must be some setting I Need to set for brushes to behave like real brushes (changing sizes as you swipe, etc)
@@OlofStormI figured that out right after. For some reason I thought I used to be able to "simulate" a pen affect with the mouse but I guess not. I might have to get a Wacom or other tablet.
In Photoshop you can lock the transparency of a layer. That only allow you to paint within what you have already drawn. So first paint your box, then lock it. You could also create the box as a separate layer and then paint on a new layer on top set as a clipping mask to the box.
Hello, I need someone to draw me some bubbles by hand and also the rest of the elements that are present on the map, using various Photoshop brushes. I pay good money for it. Thank you.

Yeah, I don't even draw or care to draw, and this has become one of my favorite RUclips channels. Definitely Bob Ross replacement.

after watching a person making a realistic painting in MS Paint, I realized that the problem was not the brush, it was me...
Just keep learning important concepts and forcing yourself to apply them

Can we install the brush you've done in this video ? I try to do the same but i don't succed to.
i can't find the type of charcoal brush you used, where did you get it from?
Awesome video Olof, I was wondering you're using transfer with your flow settings set to pen pressure but not your opacity. why are you not using pen pressure for opacity?
its pretty
puedes hacer un tutoría sobre como hacer los escenarios para las animaciones?
please tell me what the brush name which you used in video
I love this art style. Is there any name for this kind of art style?
Digital art perhaps?
@@OlofStorm lool good one

Are you using a graphics tablet? Or your mouse? You will need an input device that allows for pen pressure
Hi, when I use my paint brush tool, painting different colours on top of each other leaves the top colour with a shadowy 3D style, how do you stop this?
Do you look at reference when painting like this or is it all from your head?
This one was more from the head, but yes I do normally gather a lot of references for my work.
How did u do the erasing process at 5:46 ? Is it with erases with tha same brush? THX!
No I think I just painted with the same brush but with the blue sky colour
Very cool! - an open question... is there a significant difference between painting in Illustrator vs photoshop? (or is it a matter of taste?) - Thanks!
Quite a big difference. Illustrator is vector based so painting is not very easy.
i can't seem to recreate the brush you made :((( mine turns out to be solid and it doesn't blend :((((((
Я новичок, и ничего не поняла. Замечательная работа, но как вы это нарисовали? Все так быстро и не понятно
What was the charcoal brush called that you used?
How are you painting just over the blue background and not going pass to the grey?
You cant see the layers here, but I first painted the blue frame on one layer, and then set another above to be a clipping mask to the frame later. You could also start by painting the frame and then lock transparency on the layer. Works both ways.
What are the opacity levels for the brush?
Are you painting with a real pen? Because when i paint with my mouse (Dont have a pen) then i dont get this fine line at the start / beginning...
thnk u
have you finish the paint?
None of my brushes in photoshop behave like any of the ones in your video. Like I Just got a full solid whatever shape it is no matter what. Is it because I am using a mouse or? Yes the mouse is the problem. You need a pen tablet with pressure sensitivity. Otherwise its either full colour or none.
@@OlofStormI figured that out right after. For some reason I thought I used to be able to "simulate" a pen affect with the mouse but I guess not. I might have to get a Wacom or other tablet.
Please share your brushes sir 🙂
Can I ask how did you paint only in the thumbnail?
In Photoshop you can lock the transparency of a layer. That only allow you to paint within what you have already drawn. So first paint your box, then lock it.
You could also create the box as a separate layer and then paint on a new layer on top set as a clipping mask to the box.
Which version of Photoshop do you use?
Cc, so most likely the latest version :)
can you send this brush file?
May I ask, is this brush a Mixer Brush?
No just a custom one
Olof Storm Turns out I had the mixer brush thing selected while creating mine, instead of a regular brush- thanks!
Uh, so I tried doing this and your instructions didnt change the brush at all like how it's illustrated in the video lol.
What do you mean? Im showing you how I make the brush in the video. Maybe your using a very low resolution canvas or something?
Hello,
I need someone to draw me some bubbles by hand and also the rest of the elements that are present on the map, using various Photoshop brushes. I pay good money for it.
Thank you.
Can blender be installed on your tablet
can u pass u brushes man?
I show you exactly how you make it here :)
why do u sound so swedish
Because I am :)
