My oldest brother joined the army at 19. He was trained and sent to Vietnam. He was the only survivor of his platoon. He was wounded and received a purple heart and other metals of honor. He came home in 1969 but mentally he never left Vietnam. He was my big brother, but he was my greatest hero!! He would always visit the Vietnam War Museum Wall in Washington D.C to connect with his lost buddies in combat. GOD Bless my brother Jack and GOD Bless the U.S.A!!!
If ur brother is still arouund tell him i said i no its late but welcome home
This song reminds me of my father soon as he graduated high school he signed up to go over on his 19th birthday i thank he surved for our country i wanted to follow in his foot steps but i had to take care of him but sadly in 2021 two days before his 49th birthday he was called up i fount him foaming from his mouth and eyes behind his head to this day i can not get out of my head how i fount him and it scared me to this day and i wish he was still here i miss you dad so much
This song is truly amazing. My dad was in the Army. My brother is leaving for the Army in July and after I graduate from high school I’m going into the Army as well. Thank you to all of the soldiers and all branches that have served and those that are serving right now.
I was in Vietnam 50 days after my 18th birthday and I'm proud of that. Didn't run to Canada like a coward. Will never forgive Carter for letting them come home with no punishment. That was a slap in the face to our dead heroes
Welcome home brother
Thank you for your service sir
William tucker you may also like the song welcome home
I'd honestly like to know would really want those guys with you out in the field?
Meh, 'The most powerful Military' yet you lost the Vietnamese war.. They ran to Canada so they wasnt embarrassed at the failure in Vietnam. Anyway, you still fought thanks for your service.

Thank you for your service and sacrifice
@@Tylor-mp6om thank you sir
This story happened many times, small town heros went to war, some came home some didn't. During VietNam, momma had three sons in country at the same time, she was a wreck, but they all came home upright.
Just amazing how it's the guy who saved his life
1st. Lt. Michael G. MADDIN A18 SF. He fought for us all
I'll salute him in respect. Sorry he can't see.
i knew him was a fine man and great soldier
Just gives me the chills. I have three brave nephews, who became Marines and thank God they came home safely to us.
anyone who dislikes obviously don't have anyone who died for them like me my brother was killed in Iraq and this song gets me
nosaj inc. Hi I'm sorry for your lost i lost my brother in afghaisten
Sorry for ur loss
I’m sorry for your loss
,same here
sigh.... or it could be the fact that has nothing to do with it and your just seeking sympathy.
Lo though i walk through the valley of the shadow of death, i shall fear no evil, for i have my brothers watching over me. I lost my best friend from childhood in Iraq. RIP Mickey, 82nd AA.
My Son deployed with the 82 to times once Iraq and then Afghanistan. Sence then to more times to Afghanistan I am glad it is over now but my money say it won't be long and we will be back at it again some where.
@@daviddobson8933 I agree. Over 20 years work thrown down the drain? It's only a matter of time before they screw up, and attack again.
@@standingwolf6470 So very true I come from a long line of miltary men my Father in Korea myself to Vietnam and then my Son. He is still in the Army he is a Frist Sgt with 10 1st . He did not want to see it end the way it did but like he said they did not want them to win the war and put an end to it.Biden should of never pulled out the way he did it. That was a slap in the face to our fighting men and weman. But then I remember how some were treated coming home from Vietnam thank God I did not have to go threw that I am from a small town and they were proud of all of us.
Still gives me chills. To all that served, thank you
My best friend died right in front of me shot by a coward in the back because he was too scared to give him a fair fight. He was 19 love you bud always will Rip Spc Eric Timpson
I'm sorry for your loss. Praying for all those lost souls serving their countries.
This is not relevant at all, but your profile pic was my desktop background my entire childhood from like 8 until 16. I'm sorry for your loss, and I am sorrier still that we, as God's children, have to fight in thess wars while Jesus Christ is weeping in heaven as he watches down on us all. God Bless everyone.
Im so sorry 😭
All these people are telling you they’re sorry and it doesn’t make a fuck. I lost 3 of my absolute fucking brothers to the governments warmongering. We all joined the infantry for the same reason. I understand what you felt 5 years ago, and still feel today. I’m just now starting to deal with what I saw and the men I lost. Sorry gets so ticking old but it’s all these people know to say. I’m gonna say I know what you feel and I’m there brother. We all know why the sky is blue brother.
@@loganstevens3559 trust me I fucking hate our govt but I believe wholeheartedly in what it used to stand for and thats the reason I joined. You will unfortunately see your best friends in the world get fucked over time and time again by the very people who said we are here to help you. A buddy of mine just got a letter from the VA reminding his educational funds he spent nearly a decade ago and he is getting charged 38000 dollars that he is obligated to pay back. Hey civilians who see this did you know the VA had never sided with a veterans claim in 78 years never once.
A childhood friend of mine was killed in action three days ago and wasn't even in afghanistan a month. RIP LCpl Travis Nelson 1992-2011.... He was 19.
NEVER FORGOTTEN. Semper Fi.
this song is played every morning in our town after they play the pledge of allegience...its the station's salute the troops. every morning i get teary eyed....my husband was 19 when he joined the Marines....he is an all American hero....
Love this song I sign in December I’m a senior in college. I’m joining airborne.
2020 and I heard this on the radio the other day I should of heard this year's ago
I went to Bosnia in 1997 at age 19...that was my first of three combat tours
That Silent Drill team of Young Men who look like My Uncles Nephew ,Son and Now Grandson’s really makes this a sharp and moving video. Like the final scene of Big Jim Maclain 1952, “How Stands The Union?” There Stands The Union Mr. Webster!”
Thank ou for this wonderful song, jsut wished more people would stop protesting what we do and insulting us we give our lives up so we could serve our beloved country cause we had a passion that noone else want to answer to we stepped up to serve and protect. We follow orders so we can support our family with the little that we have, and everytime i hear this wonderful song it reminds me of all my brothers and sisters that have died for this country. So Mr. Bill Gentry I thank you~ a USMC CPL~
To all how serve and have served on behalf of myself and those who can't I would like to say thank you for all you do and have done
My son is 19 and he is a Marine stationed in Japan , This is a great song!

Army, Navy, Marines, Coast guard, or Air force Active duty or reserves. Each a different branch, and in private or in a group they all razz the other. But when on mission the uniform doesn't count as to what branch they are in..... they are brothers and sisters in arms will watch each others back no matter what.
:o)
Lola Jackson true

Lola Jackson yes we do and brother or sister need help we going get them from us army vet
I have to admit. I never served but my husband put in 20. And my daughter and son in law are currently serving I pray for all who have put the the uniform on past, present and future. As well as the ones who stay at home like I did. We are all family.

THIS GUY IS GREAT.. LISTENED TO HIM AT WILD BILLS IN ATLANTA MANY NIGHTS... KNEW HE WOULD EVENTUALLY GO OUT ON HIS OWN... GREAT JOB BILL....WE ARE HOLLERIN FOR YA HERE IN OGLETHORPE CO. GA...
All should praise the families of Military members. 32+ years, 5 tours and still in but could not do it without my family at home keeping me grounded.
My husband was 19 when he finished his 2nd year of Military Service.
God kept him safe so that I could meet hi when he was 30. He's now 54 and I'm still so incredibly fortunate that he's part of my life.
We lost many future husband's and wives at only 19, I'll always be grateful for what they gave.
I remember the day I sat in my office here in S.A. and was shocked to hear that a plane had just flown into the World Trade Centre a world away. My biggest fearwas for one of my managers and his wife I had booked tickets for to visit their son in New York.
We worked as supply, manufacture and maintenance company for our Airforce and the implications were not lost on us.
For all my friends and their families who had given so much, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
great video...beautiful song! my babies and my hubbie are in this video!!! :)
I love this song..The words really go to the core of your soul and his voice just adds to it..
My dad was 19, in 1965 when he was with the 2nd bat, of the 8th Calvary of the 1st cav. Thanks for whoever or whatever that got him home...
Bill is an awesome singer and a very nice man. This song touches my heart!

I joined the military on 01/18/17. I am in the National Guard. I love it. I don't ever regret signing my name on that dotted line. I would it all over again. Thank you to all those that are serving and served before us. Thank you to all of those that gave your life.
Heaven forbid we ever experience another terrorist attack but I'd be proud to be the man in this song.
So Simple but so TRAGICALLY TRUE! Iam Australian & Proud of it.I am also very Proud to know that America is our Greatest Allie! Thank-You & GOD BLESS ALL OUR MEN & WOMEN WHO GIVE SO MUCH OF THEM_SELVES TO KEEP US SAFE!

He said Marines but he showed a soldier 😂 good song though I love it.
We are doing a huge injustice to the men and women who have suffered and given so much for a Country he/she loved and served for a Country full of people who do b=not appreciate it!!
I will agree young Lady but sadly it is part of it.I always try and remember that is one of the many reasons that we fought so that some people can say just what ever that they want to. Lol it took me many years to get there tho .I used to fight over it but now I just alway remember that's one of the reasons we did fight so some idiot can say what ever they choose to. However that being said I always just say to them I guess that's the reason you didn't join.
This makes me think of my brother Sgt Lewis USMC
He was 19 when he first join he's been in the Corp a few years now,
Don't get to see him much anymore.

I'm currently enlisted in the Marines as an 0311. I have met some great men while I've been in. This song means a lot to me. It's very emotional and makes me think of the men who have given it all for this country and fellow Marines. I've lost 3 friends who got deployed to Afghanistan. 1 was killed by a sniper and another was killed by an IED. 19 year old men who I bonded with and became close to. I still remember their faces and names. RIP Camero, Broussard and Olson. Gone but never forgotten

I was ten when those towers fell. And I told my mom and dad, I was going to be a soldier. I was the only kid that said that in my class.
At 13 in 8th grade we were asked to write an essay on our future profession. I wrote about the Army, its values, and how I would join their ranks. I was told a girl should do other things.
At 16 I walked into the recruiters office, and asked to take the Asvab. I scored an 89. My teachers said I was wasting my brain. I should go to college, I had scholarships, the path was there.
Instead, on March 3, 2008 at 17, I was sworn in to the United States Army, On July 3rd, 2008 I left my home, and went to training. I finished and graduated my training the day before I turned 18.
I have no regrets, I have plenty of hard feelings, for this Country and its people and how they don't care about my brothers and sisters who died. But I have no regrets, and if my son tells me one day he wants to join, I will be terrified. I will be scared, but I will be right behind him every step of the way. He will know that I am proud and no matter what above all else, he is my boy. If he joins or not, he is my boy.
great song, really like it. god bless our troops.
