    When youbstarted talking about how many pallets you can cut you really showed a battery life expectancy. Not many reviews give a real picture like that. I really like that

    For anyone watching this in 2022 keep in mind he was using the older XC battery. Now that the high output batteries are available it should be even more impressive.

    That is a badass saw. It's amazing how adding a brushless motor gives tools so much more run time. I've used a few 12v circular saws and the run time was horrible. Along with the tool bogging down. This would be a tool I wouldn't feel bad about investing my money into. Great review as always. Thanks !

But, as of now I can definitely say that I like the Leather ones, and think that they are very well made and comfortable. As for the other styles, I havent gotten a chance to use them much yet....but hopefully will soon!

    Great review! That saw is really impressive! I love the m12 fuel hackzall, it's my go to even over the m18 fuel sawzall which is a beast but more than I usually need and it requires two hands whereas the hackzall is a one hander. I have the 7 1/4 m18 fuel circular saw which is a great tool, but I wonder if the m12 would become my go to for the small stuff due to its ease of use? It certainly has the run time and cut capacity for most jobs. I might have to add this to my wish list! Let's be honest, all we really need is an excuse to justify a new tool purchase! We don't NEED most of our tools!

  • @scottsena6760
    @scottsena6760 5 лет назад +4

    Debated and debated whether to make my first purchase the M18 Fuel or this M12 version. Well just pulled in to the house after purchasing it a few minutes ago, swapped out the blade for a Diablo....for what this is?(A solidly built 12v.) I slammed through it’s first use cutting up some scrap dimensional and siding for hauling away easily.
    All I can say is? If you knowingly buy this as a 12v and insist on using a term like “underpowered” to describe it’s abilities....you need to kick yourself right in the butt!
    I am really looking forward to using this little beast (while picking my way through all kinds of work) and have no doubt I made the right choice in going with this M12 “first”. It’s a must have (and will be greatly appreciated right along side the M18 Fuel version once purchased....not a doubt in my mind).
    As always, thanks for another of your well done reviews. Comfortable to watch, neutral, concise and entertaining!

    Digging the stone breaker gloves.. you made dad work hard for those. What's this like his 4th or 5th circular saw video!!!
    The m12 circ saw it pretty impressive for being 12v. Speed wise it seems comparable to the older brushed 18v 6.5" saws.. just doesn't have the same amount of grunt as some of the new brushless 18v saws.
    Either way this is perfect for the occasional user who is only invested in the m12 line or even the pro who has m12 and 18v but just wants a super lightweight compact option for small jobs..
    Nice review as always

    • @RealToolReviews
      @RealToolReviews  9 лет назад

      NERemodeling Thanks! Yeah the StoneBreaker gloves are pretty comfortable.....I like the leather ones & the landscaping ones a lot. As far as the M12 goes, you are correct.....the power/speed is not near what the 18v models are.....but then again, the benefit of size/weight is a huge plus over a 10+lb saw too :)

    • @RealToolReviews
      @RealToolReviews  9 лет назад

      +Tim Martinez I have not, but that is a good idea! Are you using the thin EMT or thicker variety? Any of them will work, but the cut quality and blades are what will differ. (Metal cutting) Circular Saws will last a long time and have very fast/clean cuts, band saws are lightweight & the blades last a long time with a clean cut, the Hackzall will fit in places the other two will not, but the cut quality is not as good & you will burn through blades a lot faster.

    I bought one of these and get some pretty bad binding/stalling, even with a fully charged 4.0Ah battery. I noticed that you’re using Freud diablo blades. Is that the secret? I have tried the OE blade and a nice ridge carbide high toothcount blade, and 2x and Baltic birch plywood both bind it.

    • @RealToolReviews

      I like Diablo blades for any OEM replacement, except Makita.... they are equally as good. Most OEM blades suck.

  • @dylangkcockett
    @dylangkcockett 8 лет назад

    so i noticed that this saw has the same specs as the m18 metal circular saw 2682-20 do you think this will cut metal as well or bog out since its not m18? or being brush-less be the better of the two?

    • @RealToolReviews
      @RealToolReviews  8 лет назад +2

      +Dylan Cockett Metal saws specifically have different torques built in to prevent them burning up when cutting metal.....although they may look similar, a circ saw will fail where a metal saw will keep going, simply due to the design.

    2x4 and 2x6 lumber are the most common building materials and very rarely do I cut 2 at a time why do I need a 7 1/2 blade? unless I'm ripping material the M12 will be my go to.
    Also I like the side handle better because I get full view of the line but I'm going to wait until they include the drill/driver combo in their bare tool promo.

    Ok. So- I've become a big fan of the m12 line of milwaukee tools. Long story short-the drills , jigsaw, hack have all performed amazingly well and surpass the bulkier but trusted Makitas. I like the M12s so much I stopped replacing 18v batteries on Kitas. I gave away the old Ryobi 18v (and don';t be fooled-those cheap-ass Ryobis ran and ran) But I invested in a full line of these M12s -for the first time sticking to one brand/one battery. So I;m in this for the long haul.
    The problem I'm having is with my brand new 5 1/2" circular M12 running off the line to the right. I know how to check Plates and blade for square and know the new batts need a break-in period. No problems with this.
    So- I was expecting to be zipping thru 1/2" plywood today but found that no matter what I did- it seems like the blade was fighting me to run off to the right and would slow down then totally bog down to a halt. Batteries couldn't power thru to a 'correction' and they were only depleted a small % from full charge after the bog-down. - I fought it and tried to adjust but to no effect. I got frustrated and brought out the corded Bosch. The two M12 4.0 x-tended were both fully charged.
    My question is [and assuming there is not some dumb-ass basic thing I'm forgetting-after 30yrs building cabinets/etc]
    Does anybody think I'm:
    A) still not getting full power from new batts and that could cause binding?
    B)Is it possible I am not cutting properly? It seems unlikely since I've been at this a long time but I'm open to thoughts. And yes-blade and plate squares up with no blade wobble that I can see;)
    C) could it be the Blade? (this is whats nagging me) . I use Freud in everything-table, radial, chop but this M12 came with a stock 'framing' blade with -I think-24 teeth. I did buy a Freud 50tooth for when I am working on finer project with finer cuts. But now I am thinking: will a Freud framing blade help? (i'm not a real 'blade' snob. nothing against a decent blade. Its just Freud has always worked out great for me) Anybody think a Freud framer will make a dif?
    D)I can't think of any other reason why my saw tracks off-line to the right and seems to be fighting me against holding the line. Even stranger is I was cutting thru 2 x 10s the day b4 without much problem except 'new battery' issues where it cut great but lost full charge quickly.. I have 3 batteries and a charge station. Is it even possible I got a faulty saw, or faulty...anything? Its so unlikely since the other 5 M12 tools work great-Jacket works great too but the weather is insanely warm for december.
    Any opinions, help, suggestions, criticism welcome. Yeah-I'm an 'old timer cabinet maker but I still have my WTF moments. Too many fantastic reviews of this M12 for me to think the saw is the problem. Could 'new battery' power lag really be an issue? And would that really cause the saw to run off the line? I'm stumped and decided to give it a rest for a couple days (I 10 days to return-but have serious doubts its the saw which seems to run just fine. And considering the sheer amount of positive reviews-i want to stick with M12.
    Anyway-thanks for reading this rant. And this is in NO WAY a criticism of the M12 line-up.AMazing line of tools. Super lightweight, comfortable and long lasting and fantastic design and balance*.
    *so satisfied with all then other M12 tools i even splurged on the Milwaukee heated vest and jacket. I know they work-but the weather is so damn hot 2 wks b4 x-mas that I can't really try them out!
    Thanks 4 review. best tool reviewer from my pov.

    • @RealToolReviews
      @RealToolReviews  8 лет назад

      +David Baker Thanks! I am glad you like the reviews! ..... that sucks that your saw is having issues, and I would try the following :
      1) Just to be sure it is not you, clamp a straightedge to a sheet of plywood & run it down to see if it binds without you eyeballing it. If it does, exchange the saw and/or get a different blade.
      2) Swap out the stock blade with a Diablo.....those & Makita blades are the only two I will use.
      I sliced up 7 pallets with this on one 4.0ah charge --- eyeballing it ---- and fighting twisted boards. It was a giant pile of wood & the battery lasted the whole time without dying. I dont think it is a battery issue, especially since you have tried multiple battery packs.
      Could be a bent arbor, bent blade, manufacturing defect, etc. I would suggest returning & buying a replacement elsewhere (in case the whole batch of them that yours is in has the same issue).
      Good luck!

      Thanks for the advice. And yeah, i watched you cut up those palettes. Reminds me of when i lived on maui for a few years in 90s. B4 "repurposed" was fashionable. Pallets were the life blood for my work there. I built everything from frames for paintings to walls for an extention on our house. Great job your doing.
      Add for saw. ..doubt it's a bent arbor but, if it was- on a brand new saw- it would be a big bummer. Ill try the straight edge and see what happens.
      Im betting ( hoping more like it) it's the blade. It's a thin kerf and maybe it's a little too thin for the task. I too only use Freud (or Diablo,I guess its their trademark colour and name) in both table and 12" dual mitre. I discovered freud over 20 yrs ago and have never gone back. But, it didn't occur to me that the stock framing 16tooth blade may be a pos.
      I don't think the 5.5" 40 tooth diablo is necessary for rough framing but im going to take your lead and pick up an 18t or 24t diablo.
      I honestly can't think of one circle saw-batt or cord- I've had that went bad this way (bent or malform factory part) so, I'll be shocked if between the straight edge test and a new blade it really turns out to be a bad unit.
      Other then this- i have nothing but great things to say about the M12 line. There's really not much i cant do with them.
      Thanks again, great review, appreciate it too,
      D.Atticus Baeker

    What is the runtime on this particular battery or with the 6.0 battery? My m12 brushless hackzall with the 4.0 battery doesn't seem to last long. My service is horrible at my house so actually watching RUclips videos takes forever, so forgive me for not being able to watch this entirely.

      Oscar Garcia I use them occasionally.....I have actually been using some Steelman PRO Extra-Long Locking Flex-Head Ratchets lately & like them a lot.....having the ability to lock the head VS having it swivel around freely is a big advantage. I have a review coming out on them soon.

      Chaojun Huang We do "max" run-time testing.....keep in mind that with every circular saw that we test, we use them exactly the same way & the reason that the cut amounts are higher in my videos is the fact that the trigger is not released/engaged each cut on the 2x4 testing. The trigger is instead held down the entire time (keeping the saw running at max rpms). I have tried it the other route (releasing in between each cut) & the total cuts go down by about 10%. The other three major things that effect those numbers are --- 1. Blade type & condition (I replace the blade with a new blade prior to each run-time test.....also, cheap blades do not cut as well as high-end blades), 2. Wood type (here we have white pine....other areas of the country have fir/cedar/etc & they may be harder to cut through), 3. User experience (my dad was a carpenter for 30+ years & does the cutting in these videos....someone less experienced would not be as efficient cutting).
