  • Charles will introduce us to parkour training; a form of fitness and dexterity training that employs natural (yet under-utilized) movements to effectively navigate the environment. He addresses some misconceptions about parkour and describes its practical advantages. He also brings a thought provoking perspective regarding the sedentary lifestyle, play behavior and social norms.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

This explains Parkour the way parkour was meant to be explained. Finally, an intelligent presentation on what it really means to train.
    Brilliant

this is a fantastic explanation of parkour... what it is and why we do it. i often tell people that parkour is an addiction, but its the only addiction that leads to self improvement. that simple feeling of accomplishment when you overcome the smallest thing that caused fear in your mind is indescribable and amazing.

Great great work! Beautifully said and with intelligence.I hope that we as Traceurs , continue to inspire others from an awfully devastating sedentary life and to show them the rewards not only in physical capability, but attitude , confidence, and perseverance. I hope to see Parkour to be displayed as a discipline, akin to a martial art, taken with responsibility , love and passion, and eventual progression.I can't believe this has been around for so long and I have not stumbled upon it, very glad I did. Please if you have time, take a second to watch Ido Portal's video on his ideas on movement and the fitness industry!

I am actually a really good climber. I can't run very far or jump high, and my stamina is awful since my leg was in a splint, but I can still climb extremely well considering those things. I'm not trying to boast here. I just know how to find those lttle handholds and ledges that hold my weight. I climbed a pole that is at least 4-6 metres high, which is 2-3 times my height!
