i have no idea why people feel the need to include HDTF in half life evolution videos. maybe it's some autistic "completionism" mindset but in that case they would also have to include every other terrible HL fan game. maybe they actually think HDTF is a good game which I wouldn't put past a lot of modern day Half-Life RUclipsrs because a lot of them were dumb enough to invest their own hard-earned money into it.
Black Mesa literally started as a rip of the Half-Life 1 maps with models ripped directly from Half-Life 2 and ended as one of the best looking games ever made with the Source engine and one of the most successful games on Steam. Genuinely inspirational.

I know why the game failed the way it did. TLDR: The main dev behind it and his partner lived in the same building, but all the other devs and coders lived in different states and countries. They had to use google doc to upload thier files so the main dev can download and upload to steam. NOBODY on the team besides the main dev/head dev actually had a working copy of the game, "working" on a loose term that is. So none of the mappers or coders were able to actually test their builds, they just had to go along with what the dude said. Doesnt help he uploaded the wrong version of the game on release date..
To be honest, you shouldn't have used HD models in HL1 expansions. HD pack _could_ be showcased after Blue Shift, but it's not an essential part of Op4 and BS and could be considered a mini-expansion on it's own. This makes this video not accurate enough xD Otherwise very good work!

Really hope Black Mesa's Xen update gets more attention. It went way beyond my expectations, and the whole project in general is a really good remake with some cool mods of its own.
You forgot Hunt Down the Freeman. Truly a brilliant game with excellent voice acting, especially from the main character. Not a single second is dull and forgettable. None of the assets are stolen either, maybe a few are "borrowed", but I'm sure the modelers are glad that they get paid in exposure with being put into such a well thought-out, and perfectly crafted experience that we all love.
Almost accurate. You used the HD pack in OP4 (barely noticable though), and you used the upgraded version of Half Life 2 (the version with Episode 2's graphical upgrades. I can tell from the way the fire effect appears on the barrel).
If I would of have made this video, I’d have put: - Half-Life Pre-Beta (early 1998, use footage of Sewers.mpg) - Half-Life (E3 1998) - Half-Life: Day One (even though it’s basically the same as the retail, being an accurately accurate evolution I would even put this one aswell)
