I wish we could have a mix of both cameras. I prefer Xiaomi's colors as they look more natural but the ultrawide and zoom are clearly better on the Oneplus, especially at night. This comparison was a lot closer than expected!

Awesome comparison Han! I am super impressed with how much of an improvement the OnePlus 12 is over the 11. I really think that new main sensor especially can get alot better with some more updates hopefully in the coming months. Xiaomi are pretty much new kings of camera software processing, even though they are using those poor JN1 sensors for zoom and ultra wide they still managed to get great results!! Am very disappointed they downgraded the main sensor, my guess is they sold too many 13 pros last year because it had the 1 inch sensor and they are hoping to sell alot more 14 ultras this year 😂

They are not too far,although xiaomi pulls ahead.Oneplus may improve to some extent with software updates.But this has been the story of ONEPLUS.Good in most areas with average camera.One thing Oneplus did better is better highlight control of neon lights and street lights probably because of shared bbk genes as vivo,iqoo are known for it.Appreciate Han for bringing a detailed comparison as I am thinking to get one oneplus 12 when it is released in North America

Oneplus 12/Open telephoto is currently absolutely the best in the class, these night photos look absolutely great.
When i analyzed and compared on gsmarena OnePlus Open telephoto to all competitors it wasn't even close. I can't wait for the global release of 12.

I was hoping to catch this video to advise on a big decision between these phones but they perform so closely, whilst not necessarily excelling (when compared to market competitors), still a toss up decision (though for the price diff. I may side with the majority and lean towards OnePlus (in this battle)...
This year my S20+ and another samsung device fell to the green line issue, so I really wanted to give Xiaomi or One Plus a go but I may have to revisit the Pixel phones...

Great review. For human subjects with the main camera I think it's almost a tie. It's mainly white balance difference and this is easily adjusted. I'd prefer somewhere in the middle of the two in terms of white balance temperature. For portraits I much prefer the Xiaomi 14 pro. They just look better optimised in my opinion. However, I think this jn1 sensor is weak so although it is good for outdoor portraits in good lighting it will probably struggle indoors in weaker lighting. For night photos, they were quite different. The 14 pro tends to blow out the background lights a bit more but also looks more natural with less sharpening so I'd maybe slightly side with that but it's not clearcut here. The 4k 60 night video seemed better on the Oneplus 12 to me. It was particularly poor on the Xiaomi 14 pro for a flagship with poor control of light sources and poor stabilisation. Nighttime zoom is obviously better on the Oneplus 12 but the Xiaomi 14 pro surprisingly does better in daytime zoom. This is suprising because the Vivo x100 and 1QOO 12 I think do better than the Xiaomi 14 pro with the same periscope sensor as the Oneplus 12. Maybe Vivo's optimisation is just a lot better. Ultrawide is probably slightly better on the Oneplus 12. Overall, I think the Xiaomi 14 pro is a little better but I would reserve judgement until the Oneplus receives a few updates as it's just been launched. It's also quite a bit cheaper than the Xiaomi 14 pro. I also agree with your comment that Xiaomi 14 pro is kind of a 'stop gap' product in terms of cameras. There will be a big gap in camera hardware between it and the Xiaomi 14 ultra this year, a bigger gap than there was last year between the Xiaomi 13 pro and Xiaomi 13 ultra.

La foto que yo veo tiene bonitos colores además de un contraste dinámico, un poco de saturación pero es normal y lo más interesante es buen equilibrio del HDR, el cielo no se ve quemado.
Aún así le falta, para llegar a los Huawei y vivo que para mi son los más completos con diferencia

Wow I am really surprised, in my friends circle those who have midrange OnePlus phone it's take natural photos, no over saturated and no colour boost. On the other side those who have Xiaomi mobile it's takes over saturated photos.
In flagship segment it went opposite 😅😅
But overall, consider the price I will pick the OnePlus 12. Although it's out of my budget 😕

Zoom capabilities will be better on almost all ones than xp14 but beside that the photos and videos are 🔥. Beside photos i like the shape of 14p over op12.

Xiaomi selfie "0.5 zoom" looks better than Oneplus12, that forces a closer shot. You can always crop in to the degree of the Oneplus12 AFTER taking the photo with Xiaomi. The Oneplus12 at night is SUPERIOR! Great vid!

Let's forget about the cameras for a second. I had a OnePlus 3t and a OnePlus 7. Then i switched to Xiaomi 11. I have to say overall OnePlus gives the premium experience more than Xiaomi. I don't know the reason but i felt like my OnePlus 3t was better than Xiaomi 11(don't compare the specs i am talking about the experience). But OnePlus has struggled the last couple of years so i didn't go for a OnePlus again. But i think they have done a pretty good job this time. I know it's not the best phone in the market but i will go for a OnePlus 12 this time.
Am satisfied with this wonderful comparison am bit late to watch due to some work here and there , i think for night video in 4k 60fp OnePlus is slightly ahead in details and color control

Xiaomi 14 pro, is doing surprisingly poor in night. The neon of the building is pure crap.
Did not really expected this. During day even cheap phones can do decent images..During low light is truly visible the difference of the value. Better sensors are shining there. 1+ did absolutely better job. Despite, the night videos are really showing the HW difference, as not possible to cheat with longer exposure, unfortunately both performed cheap. Iphone is killing bith flagship killers in night video 😁😁😁😁.

I think the Leica Authentic is good for daytime photos, and the Leica Vibrant is good at night (more obvious HDR), perhaps this would save the Xiaomi telephoto at night
I agree with you, outdoor selfies its easy! Nice to see indor selfies videos! At the end, I lean forward to xiaomi, but Oneplus had some better results for me in some situations.

@@hemlata6978 I like the fluidity it has, but there are 2 things about this phone that make me upset, it must be a system bug, they are: The camera when you zoom in more than 10x, the same quality as you see on the camera doesn't come out. When you go to the gallery and performance in games, it is limited to 60fps for some reason.
Oneplus 12 was better for me xiaomi was good in some aspects though.. but importantly the model's color. Which phone showed the color more accurately. I guess the oneplus unless she was tanned.. do let me know.. color accuracy was way higher with oneplus

Audio xiaomi is better a little bit more bass. Selfie video both are very equal, oneplus little softer. Night i think oneplus too much contrast. What I hate is many people on youtube they use other people's videos n pics for comparison. But thanks to you that we can see real comparisons
