Why on earth would they cut this?? It makes Harley's "We're connected" line much more meaningful, and shows Tony being a hero even without the suit.

As great as these scenes are for the points you make it does ruin the pace of this film a bit. Deadpool had some really good deleted scenes that were kept out to keep the pace of the movie up and it was a great decision.

I disagree with a lot of you. This was PHENOMENAL! I loved Iron Man 3 but this deleted scene had me flipping out WAY more than the entire movie! This was AMAZING and would have added SO much more depth and awesome heroics to the already awesome Tony. Also that bit with the reactor was SO angsty! I can't even cope with it. These short scenes also add so much more depth to the character of Harley and makes him that much more relate-able. Totally love these clips and TOTALLY think they should have been included in the movie - at least the Tony pulls out arc reactor to jump start kid's heart one.

A reminder that it's not the shrapnel that's the problem for Tony in the last scene. It's the fact that the Reactor also plays a part in keeping Tony's heart beating. Without it, it's been shown he goes into cardiac arrest. aka: his heart stops beating.
He doesn't collapse because of the shrapnel. He collapses because his heart (most likely) literally stopped. He was actually, literally, dying.
That's why replacing the Reactor brings him back from it so easily. It restores the pacemaker functions the Reactor also powers/serves. Tony restarted EJ's heart, Harley restarted Tony's.
If the shrapnel had been the cause, putting the Reactor back wouldn't have fixed anything. The shrapnel would've already pierced his heart, and a fancy glowing battery just doesn't do anything for heart lacerations or internal bleeding.
Tony literally relies on the Reactor to live a lot more than any of the movies explicitly state. That's why he finally removes it and the shrapnel. It's a crutch, a weakness, he can't afford to have anymore.

Why would they delete this scene????!!!! It adds way more weight to that part of the movie and shows Tony being the hero we all know he is without his suit. Adds a lot more emotion to the relationship between Tony and Harley, and wouldn't have ruined the pace of the movie at all either. Tony is my fave and I'm bitter that a moment as good as this was left out.

I like this scene. Throughout the movie they were trying to draw parallels btw Tony and Harvey, this is the biggest parallel - despite the fact that EJ was Harvey's enemy - he tormented and bullied him, Harvey still risked his life for EJ, just like Tony does, everyday.

Tony had changed so much after the New York fight, he had a fear. I could see this destroying him in Iron Man 3 and I felt bad about it. Tony is a mechanic, not a soldier. He was afraid of dealing with aliens and gods and something that comes from another galaxy etc..He felt so small. but he has to put the suit on and risk his like saving people. and you guys keep saying he only fight for himself. he doesnt have to do that much just to "fight for himself"

    • @YukiMiaka90
      @YukiMiaka90 8 лет назад +29

+Hoài Thương Trịnh Absolutely agree! Who would even think Tony fights for himself??? Seriously? There is a moment in IM3 where Tony hides behind the car from extremis woman, but leaves the spot bc another civilian is hiding there too, and purposely makes noise and leads the fire-woman into the shop and away from the dude. And he was not even in his armour! just a normal human. And it's just one example of how brave he is!

They shouldn't have cut the last part, it's explanatory of the arc reactor, and it shows how heroic Tony is even is he does act like a jerk sometimes.
EJ is an annoying kid, but I think they should've kept him in the movie.
Honestly, this movie has almost nothing to explain the arc reactor, so adding this part would really help people who haven't seen the previous movies to understand.

Why would they delete this part. It shows tony Starks deeper side and that he really cares

According to the first movie arc reactor was also something like a generator for Tony`s heart. But genius Shane Black not give a shit about plot consistency.

They should have an Iron Man 3.5 that includes these deleted scenes. They did it for Spider-Man 2.5, so why not? I really like this video.

The name of the bully in MONSTER SQUAD (also written by Shane Black) was named E.J. The man must have a hell of a chip on his shoulder. It's been 30 years since high school, dude. Get over it.

  • @WhoooLovesOrangeSoda

Well the first movie was the only one that got it right. The shrapnel in his heart was metal, probably iron or steel, which is attracted to the electromagnet, stopping it from going further into his heart. The 2nd movie was acceptable because he was weakened by the temporary paralysis device, not because of the reactor.
But in IM3, yeah...Im glad it wasnt in the movie.

Now this explains why harley would say he saved his ass. In the movie its implied it was because of the snowball but this is really saving his life. Good to see this.

Okay so since Sam R said Tony took the reactor from his chest shouldn't he be like half fainting/half passing out? Since the shrapnel is close to his heart shouldn't he be like idk like being weird?!?!😶
