G'day mate Love your videos, makes perfect sense. I'm gonna take your advice and cut again this weekend after last weekends effort. Got awfully hot 38°C here in NSW Australia brown bar began to melt. Next time shady spot and beer. Cheers Evan.
@@EvanStegerMetalPolishing i don't know man one of my truck drivers keeps on telling me to come out and see you but im way in nc and you are all the way out there maybe you could come to nc and set up a shop and i could run it for you lol
I have been studying you videos for sometime now so thank you Sir for the help!! You mentioned in a video I can’t find now about a product to remove rust can you tell me what that is?
Just to be clear. You are saying after your cut, you should be at 100%. I have heard others (Airstream Polishers) say that your cut should take you to 80%. Based on this lesson, getting down to 80% and trying to apply color will get you less than optimal results.?,? Great stuff Evan.
Great video, as always. I have a problem with foggy aluminum. There are spots that are perfectly clear, but most of the aluminum is foggy. This is really noticeable on large flat areas. Is this also due to the cut? Any ideas on how to fix/prevent it? Thanks.
Foggy aluminum is often a result of inconsistent polishing, oxidation, or improper residue removal. By revisiting the polishing steps-especially the cut and finish stages-and thoroughly cleaning off any polishing residue, you should be able to restore that bright, clear look. Regular maintenance and the right protective treatments will also go a long way in preventing future fogging. Good luck with your polishing, and feel free to let me know how it goes or if you run into any other issues
OK I understand what’s going on there but what is Ashley causing the white lines? I’m doing all this in I try to watch a lot of your videos, but I still haven’t figured out when I’m using too much time down or not enough because I watch the videos and you guys are, going over it with the wheel and what you’ve done with the wheel is already showing results where when I do it not so much. I’m learning the pressure has something to do with that.
Yes. Most metal polishes bunch up in microfiber and cause microscratching. I find that the cotton terry cloth doesn't do that. But just my opinion and preference.
Hey Evan do you have any recommendation for restoring aluminum rims that aluminum bright been use on ? When I go to cut with the brown compound it does not leave a brighter finish but rather dark tone. Any idea on what to do?
@@EvanStegerMetalPolishing I was using the bars in the wrong order 😂... I picked some up at a garage sale a few years back, now I know which way to use them
You should have knocked the unfolded towels onto the floor and already had some pre folded towels already done so you can put them up there would have been quicker
G'day mate

Cheers indeed. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching and supporting.
I'm new at this, thank you for all your videos, helping me a lot!

This makes perfect sense thanks for explaining it so well.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching and commenting. Appreciate that.
Hey man, could you do a video on the sanding stages? I found I had some cloudiness in my finish and I’m picking it’s from sanding the surface unevenly
There will be a sanding video within the near future.
I have been studying you videos for sometime now so thank you Sir for the help!! You mentioned in a video I can’t find now about a product to remove rust can you tell me what that is?
To remove rust? You got me stumped. I am not sure I ever talked about rust.
Nice, always excited to watch new polishers content, gna be asking u a few questions on the other pricing video, from years ago
Thank you!

So are you saying I could cut with brown and an orange wheel then go to brown on a yellow wheel? Before coloring with that yellow wheel?
You would need two separate yellow wheels. You don't want to cross contaminate.

“Weird” ya said ....my bad
Makes perfect sense now...
Had not seen this one till now ...👌
I'm not always right but I try to give what I know.
So if I understand when I switch from brown compound and its shiny to green and it gets cloudy it because I didn't cut enough?
9 times out of 10 yes. or the metal wasn't ready to be colored.

Thanks!!! Do you use a thinner to remove the extra stuffffffff
Not currently. But that does work.

I like to use microfiber towels from another video I think you use a terry cloth on the hard to reach places is there a reason?
Yes. Most metal polishes bunch up in microfiber and cause microscratching. I find that the cotton terry cloth doesn't do that. But just my opinion and preference.

Lots of sanding. Check out our how to sand and polish aluminum.
Great video! Thanks you Evan!
My pleasure! Thanks for watching
What are the different grades of polish/compounds?
I have a video on that here on my channel. Check it out. I think you’ll like it.
Lol yournmom cleaning.... can u do a blend video by hand having trouble around tanks and mounted wheels
Yes coming soon. Thanks for watching.
Buddy of mine sprayed degreaser on my polished aluminum and etched the aluminum on my Harley. How can this be fixed?
Degreaser should not etch metal, ever. Are you sure it was Degreaser and not an aluminum brightner/etching solution.
Thank you very much.
You're welcome, thank you for watching and commenting!
Why is it called color? Love your videos ○ greetings from Holland
Because it is what brings the color into the metal. It is like turning the lights on in a room.
Great explanation... now I know what I've been doing wrong 😂
What was it?? Thanks for watching also.

For us newbies can you please explain cut and color.
I have a video explaining cut and color just for you guys. Thanks for watching.
What about the white block?
Thanks
thank you for watching.
Do you run the risk of lines in you sand less than 800
Not really if done properly.
Donde puedo encontrar esas porlas para pulir

Just starting out only problem I’m having is white lines after my cut stage
Likely means your pressure doesn’t match your overlap.
