Those were fun. I had the pleasure of building Barbie stuff for my baby sister growing up. You are right, a child could never put those together, but older brother loved doing it. :) Building the Dream House was my favorite time.
The parents put together the sets lol…I remember my mom specifically talking about a doll house she and my dad put together for me on Christmas night while us kids were asleep…only to have my younger brother destroy it days later by tearing off all the wallpaper 🤣😭. He also cut off all the hair on my peaches n cream barbie and drew with green marker on my cabbage patch doll when he was little
Oh no! lol some kids are just savage with toys. I was thinking about what a pain Xmas would be for parents who buy their kids these elaborate sets and have to assemble them all. Ugh haha💗
By far my favorite of the 80's dolls. I had them all at one point and through stupidity lost them. Now I have 2 of the 1st line and am always looking for the rest at a decent price. You and your brother look like you have such fun! Love you guys!
One of the 80s best toy lines! The sets are super fun for sure. Good luck finding the rest! I’m also on the hunt for a couple of them out of box at a good price to go alone with the sets! 🙌🏻😍🔥🔥💗💗
You and your twin are so adorbs💜. My older sister was my best friend and she has passed away - i miss that sibling bond so it lights up my heart when you see it in others!
🗣️A huge shout out and thank you for showing us Barbie and the Rockers land! As Barbie and the Rockers #1 fan that stage was worth every second of your 2 1/2 hours building it!! You’re not even a little tempted to take the Rockers out and rock them on that stage?? 🎹🎸🥁 I have Dee Dee coming in the mail on Monday to live in Connecticut with me! Cannot wait until she arrives!! 👏👏
Congrats on Dee Dee! I’m definitely tempted to open them but they just look too good boxed up on the shelf! haha I’ll probably order a couple out of box to play with. lol💗💗
Hello - Bought the Rockers Stage Set back in around 1997 from a Collector. Can you believe that I still have not opened it? Must get to it soon after this, set it up and place the figures. Thanks for getting us all inspired now - just what we needed. Enjoy your structures ...
I have two sets of both the Hot Rockin' Stage and the Dance Cafe, I also have the Hot Rockin' Van and the instruments. And I have a ton of the Rockers dolls, none of which are in boxes. I have all the fashions produced for the dolls as well. I don't have the House Party though, I never saw that before. I certainly would have bought it in the 80s if I saw it for 7 bucks!
Great content ! I thought I knew about all the structures until this . I didn't know that Barbie & the Rockers had that many . They all look like so much fun ! great props & back drops for a photo session. I liked the Dance Cafe the best ! You guys are great , your segments always feel like a visit ... Thnx for being the best part of RUclips ! Cheers, Matt
I can only imagine the time it took and the problems along the way in getting these together. I remember the commercials, but haven't seen the dolls up close and in person. Loving your new room too. As always, well done.
Yea the play sets were always expensive to start like a 4pc living room would be almost $30.00 in the mid 90s!!!! But if you waited long enough they’d go down to like $10 we never got a regular priced play set except for Xmas. Every single other play set we got was usually a clearance item. However this usually worked out for us cuz mom would be like “well they’re like $10 you guys can both get 2” (you guys being me and my sister) so we’d make sure to like pick out a whole house cuz our Barbie’s were ours not hers or mine so waiting for the sale usually ended up being so worth it in the long run
Nice! Yeah so many toys eventually wind up on clearance shelves. And Barbie stuff was incredibly expensive in those days compared to today. But such high quality! 💗💗
I'm so behind on videos! I just got my Rockers stage and House Party playsets put out for display! Another great video guys!! The House Party playset was a re-release rebranded with the Rockers logo. You can find both the older version and The Rockers re-release online pretty easily. I think the only differences are in the backdrop - the furniture and accessories are pretty much the same. The "Picture" on the wall that wouldn't stick was part of the projection tv unit. In your setup you had the projector on the floor directly beneath it - back in the day you would have the projector set up on the floor in the middle of the room to project the image onto a special screen. I had cousins that had one of these projector TVs in the 80s - they were bulky, and all of the lights had to be out in the room for the picture to look clear. Definitly tech of its time. I seem to remember the playsets coming out near the end of The Rockers popularity. I don't remember seeing the cafe playset back then, so I don't think it was very popular. I was a teenager when all of this came out, but I was actively collecting Barbie at the time. I thought Barbie and the Sensations was a way cooler concept - and more original (not ripping off Jem and the Holograms). I think Barbie and the Rockers are fun nostalgia now, but back then they felt contrived.
To me I always appreciate the add ons that the doll lines have. Generation Girl barbies had the International High school , My Scene barbie had great play sets. The details that go into these environments for Barbie to exist in are so interesting.
My sister had the Rockin house party when we were kids. I don't recall EVER using the backdrop. I do remember stealing it all to furnish my Dream house (just like yours in the background) that I got for $5 at a garage sale... And stealing her Maxie Mercedes Benz because I thought it looked better with that furniture.
Wow this video was so neat, I know it was hard for you to open them all but it looks like you both really enjoyed putting them together and they came out really great looking! Hope they are a fun new edition to your cool new doll room. Thanks for creating and sharing your videos!
these look like so much fun now that you’ve got them unboxed and assembled! worth the effort? i hope so! thanks for showing us these neat pieces from your collection! 😁
Great video, I have the rocking stage and dancing cafe, just missing the rocking house party set. Watching this video made me pull out my sets and take pictures of them with my Barbie and the rockers 😊
Always a pleasure to see you both. I noticed that these sets were made by Mattel. The other player in the game was Arco that made a lot of these sets under license. You are right. They are a bit much to put together. And I wonder how a child could have managed! Again, many thanks for another great video!
So glad to have this video/channel randomly pop on my feed, because that collection room is such a treat for me to see today! 💕 You mentioned about keeping the dolls in the box, though do you have some Rocker dolls out of the box that would be displayed with the sets? Also, do you do anything to the boxes, such as frame them? Thought that would be a fun way to preserve them without taking up too much space nor having to trash them completely.
Thanks so much! Glad you spotted me. I’m planning on getting a couple of out of box dolls to go with the playsets I think. Some boxes, like these I definitely keep, because the playsets can go right back in them. Early 60s Barbie boxes I keep and either store or display with the dolls. Really depends what the box is and if it took much damage. 💗💗
Wow, there was actually a lot of thought put into those playsets. Even if it was a pain to build, I did like that the rockin stage was two in one, with the backstage set. Definitely more bang for your buck, back in the 80's. Great video as usual and always enjoy the fun when your brother joins in too.
I actually own the stage set and have never assembled it because it looked like such a pain in the ass, thank you for saving me the time. Out of the three sets, the house party was definitely my favorite. Also, it’s worth mentioning how iconic Diva and mullet Ken are from this set. Such a fun line! Thanks for posting
Thanks for build 😅and for all de explanation about the sets! there are amazing! 🎉 I have never seen the back part of the last stage, it was so cute! I love your channel! ❤❤
first comment!! I am not quite sure which set is my personal favorite, they are all so great!! perhaps the hot rockin' stage? like the amount of things included and the detail of the stage wow!! even comes with a Record what????? 80s barbies are so good, I like the 90s ones too they just hit differently then barbies today. no comparison. Thank you for opening these for/with us!!! the quality of these held up so good!! the backstage/dressing room area is amazing, thank you for the content!!!

The stage, aka the Barbie Star Trek holodeck ☺️. I actually really like the backstage graphics. Totally cute sets!
haha right? Super cool graphics. Wish it had more furniture for the back but still awesome 💗
Summer is here time to open or review barbie pools or beach sets
I do have a super cool 70s pool set I should pull out 😎☀️
@@Thedollswitness I have the 1991 barbie pink sparkle I use to put soap bubbles and hot water and the barbies and Ken's really got it on those years
I'm sure all the parents had the same reaction when their kids opened the hot rockin' stage. Lol!
I bet they did! Damn what a chore lol 💗
awwww yeah its a living room party that tends to be the chill area the kitchen at a house party is where the real shizz goes down
