so, about 7 or so years ago, I was at my best friends house for a Halloween party. They had a Bop It original (with just the bop, twist and pull). I was sitting in her kitchen, and I was playing the Bop it. At some point, I had zoned completely into the game, and I didn't notice that everyone else was also watching me. The speed increases when you do long streaks. I got to 99 before I fucked up when someone made a loud noise. Apparently, I kept the record on that Bop It until it died. No one was able to beat 99 and I feel like that is my greatest childhood achievement in my adulthood lol

My oldest daughter told me she wants to live a 90s child life. She asked me how to go about that (I was born in the 80s) and my brain shut down for a second. I was finally able to re-engage my brain and told her "It's simple, turn off all electronics and go outside and play." She hasn't done anything remotely close to this. Lol 😅

Kris holding the Bop-It upside down is amazing. They placed each thing specifically to make it ergonomic (like the Pull-It being at the bottom so you bring your arm down as you naturally would). Also, never saw those chokers with pendants on them 🤷♂️

Fun fact about those rubber poppers. A young physicist guy, who played with those as a child, wanted to make one of his own a few years back. He did, and during the process he was able to visit the inventor of them. The inventor stated that they tried many designs and materials, but when they put that hole in the middle, it would get more height. So, that hole isn't there for air. It somehow makes it bounce higher.

Nintendo handheld console collector and hobbyist renovator/fixer here ~ The reason 'taking it out and blowing on it' works with gameboys sometimes - it isnt actually blowing on it, it's usually that the first insertion was incorrect and the reinsertion was actually the key point of that motion :3

As far as my anxiety origin story, a cousin handed me down a game called Perfection.
Basically you had a bunch of shapes and you had to put them in the correct slots but it had a timer and if it ran out, all the pieces EXPOLDED out! Many mini heart attacks were had.

Simon is actually a 1970's/1980's game. They brought it back in the 90's. Easy Bake ovens came out in the 1960's. It was so cute, my little sister made brownies one night for dinner in around 1985/1984.
Apparently with cartridge games, it's the removal and re-insertion that helps (insert innuendo here), not the blowing (more innuendo here?). The blowing just introduces more moisture, increasing the oxidation rate if anything. The repeated removal and insertion scrapes away the oxidized layer and exposes 'fresh' metal connection points.
Later 80's early 90's kids learned this after it was too late lol

I had a easy bake oven when I was younger, and the food was awful. I would get little food kits seldomly because they were expensive but the key to the easy bake oven is the fact that it is safe for younger kids to use (to a certain degree I was a smart kid and was able to use it unsupervised )so my mother would buy regular baking gradients for me to bake in my easy bake oven because it’s safer than me usingthe real oven, and I love that thing to death, and it was a key part of my childhood

For the Game Boy, you probably just need to clean the cartridge, and maybe the cartridge connector. Get some isopropyl alcohol, q-tips, and a pink pencil eraser. Open up the cartridge and clean the contacts with the Q-Tip and alcohol, then take the eraser and scrub it across the contacts to remove anything stuck to them, then clean it again with alcohol and a Q-Tip.

When I was younger, my friends and I were playing a punch of spooky games such as light at feather and red door yellow door. After we played those games we played with the Simon says game. The same one in the video, well later on that night it was about four that game turned on and started making the noises. One friend started asking questions and the toy was answering back. I don’t know why I am telling you this but once I saw the toy memories started to flood, and I thought you might enjoy the little fear I have from that game.

We actually have a working gameboy color. It's matte orange, and all the game cartriges' batteries are out, so you can't save any progress, It's nice to just turn on for the real nostalgia sometimes.
