  • SPOILER ALERT for the 3.4 world quests.
Here's my stream of consciousness summary of the history of Gurabad, a vassal state in the Sumeru desert during the era between the end of the Goddess of Flowers / Nabu Malikata and the end of King Deshret. Who was the jinn Liloupar, and what exactly did she due to Ormazd, Kisra / Parvezravan, and Shirin and Shiruyeh?
I've also included a theory regarding Liloupar turning to the "dark abyss" to manufacture Gurabad's destruction and Shiruyeh's Plague, and what that might have to do with Khaenri'ah, eclipses, and crimson red moons.
Please feel free to comment with any corrections and things I may have missed or misinterpreted, as there was a LOT of information to go through.... I had to add a lot of notes after recording (oof). And please share your own theories in the comments as well! 😊

From what I gathered and understand about Goddess of Flowers's lore it seems that she was aware that her own existence was on borrowed time, and was fully knew that she'll die eventually. Therefore that's why she willingly passed away for two possible reasons. She knew that despite her warnings, Deshret will go against Celestia and discover all the unseen secrets of the Heavenly Principles. And to protect him and Rukka from fighting each other, thus avoiding the Archon War.
As for the Red Moon, I found something interesing, it's an omen that bad things are about to happen. According to the Astrology of the Kaiyuan Era, the Blood Moon represents war and death, meaning a coup will happen, soldiers and minister will die during a fight. Something that very happened in Khaenri'ah and Catlacyms at the same time. Could that one of the Moon Sisters's fragments was trying to warm anyone about the future destruction? Maybe.
I have an speculation why Liloupar wasn't affected by the Abyss. Djinns are creatures of darkness and have a rather ambigous morality, neither good nor truly evil. So this lead that the Abyss was unable to twist her negative emotions nor able to control her. As far we know, characters like Chiyo the Oni and Dvalin were corrupted, however a thing they share on common, is that their perception of reality was blurred and highlighted their most negative emotions.

Yo Rooze! Glad to see some more content coming out from ya in full force. Gurabad is a tragic tale, and I was waiting to see more people start to indulge in discussions about it. Didn't want to go being too spoiler crazy on people. As for your video it really did nail the mad atmosphere that led to multiple tragedies taking place within the desert. So I'd like to bring to light what some visual storytelling and some excerpts brought up as a potential possibility.
A relationship between Gurabad and Khaenri'ah during the days of Jinni machine production.
Throughout exploring the desert, there's quite some curious sights you can come across. Such as how the Ruin Machine in the desert had actually Jinni robots vigil within its innards to protect it, working with the enemies in there. There's another case as well with enterable ruins at the Debris of Panjvahe teleporter. (It's by a primal obelisk.) Where if you got down it's elevator, after needing to get high clearance by the Scarlet Sand Slate no less, how it leads to a ritualistic like room where have a singular ruin guard surrounded by torches and statues.
That's not the only point of interest either. If we were to dig through the things you can obtain, there's two particular items involving energy you can find in Sumeru. One from local ruin guard robots, and another is from the Benben repair sidequest. These are the following.
    Lost Energy Block:
Blocks refined from pure energy. You can seemingly use it to activate the recording devices of some ancient constructs.
Those were the ones from the ruin guards. This here is the unique item you get from the Benben sidequest momentarily.
    Energy Transformation Capacitor:
An energy transformation capacitor. The extract's exact name and formula remain unknown and can no longer be produced. It seems to be able to provide energy to Primal Constructs.
If you were to get a good look at them in picture form, in my eyes, they hold an eerily resemblance of practically being one in the same thing, a fuel source of divinity for the automatons, but that leads to the question if these can actually be interchangeable. Another detail I've noticed that the power crystals within giant ruin machines (to power up doors or modules) hold a resemblance to the Liloupar fragments you find across the desert in terms of crystalline structure. One detail that sticks to me on that fashion is the how both these fragments wind up blessing a land with life with it's power, and how the Ruin guards wind up growing all of these branch like formations out of them
So it leads me to believe there's a story of sorts to be told here. Whether it was collaboration for resources and power (since Khaenri'ah was hunting the nails at some point, so there could be other boons) or if Khaenri'ah's tech might've helped inspire these bots alongside of Liloupar's graces of wisdom to Ormazd.

    • @roozeveltfox
      @roozeveltfox  Год назад +4

OH YEAH, I feel like I've seen a few other examples of Primal Constructs and Ruin Machines arranged in a particular manner (can't recall specifically off the top of my head). And I did notice that the Lost Energy Blocks and Energy Transformation Capacitors look very much the same! I had been wondering about how collecting Liloupar's fragments seem to sap the life it was providing, but didn't make the connection about ruin guards and graders growing life. Interesting!
My impression was that Deshret (and thus the primal constructs) came before Khaenri'ah, so Khaenri'ah would have been the one to take inspiration? Really interesting points though, I'll have to have a think about this. And thanks so much for watching and sharing!!

Red moons, the three moon sisters, the eclipse dynasty…
Why so many references to moons?
Also, fun fact. Genshin’s moon has NO LUNAR CYCLE. Of course, I suppose it would be annoying, troublesome or simply pointless to code that- but… for a game that seems to be so fixated on things about moons, perhaps that’s intentional.
About the moon sisters- I’m not well versed in their lore, but apparently they were responsible for keeping up the lunar cycle of the moon, replacing each other every month in order to avoid some kind of catastrophe. I assume that catastrophe would be the red moon, and the destruction that comes with it. For some reason, they stopped one time, and then a great catastrophe befell the world. The moon sisters were also ancestors of seelies.
Now, the great catastrophe is likely acquaint to the cataclysm of Khaenri’ah, Gurabad, etc. The lunar cycle thing having to be kept up irks me a little since there appears to be no lunar cycle in Teyvat right now- which might further imply that a great catastrophe will befall Teyvat once again.
The eclipse dynasty was a Khaenri’ahn dynasty (as far as I know) and though nothing is clear on who they really were, the fact they are called the eclipse dynasty is interesting in and of itself.
If they’re the eclipse dynasty, that could imply that they were against the moon sisters, or something like that. Maybe they wanted to cover the moons- for what reason, though? I’m not certain. Perhaps they acquired some kind of forbidden knowledge that led them to want to do that- or, maybe there was some corruption within the dynasty, similar to what Liloupar had done, and how she had used the abyss to accomplish her goals. Maybe the eclipse dynasty had been trying to block out the moons, only to get those red moons and a catastrophe.
As for the part about the moon sisters being seelies- there isn’t that much to say about that… but, just wanted to point out something fun. You mentioned the person who made Liloupar was a seelie (or greatly implied to be one.) Maybe that person had something to do with the moon sisters? Who knows.
In all honesty, if we ever want full answers for the seelie related questions, I feel like we might have to wait until we get an in game interaction with Columbina- since, she appears to have heavy relations to the seelies.
Off topic, but speaking about Columbina and the harbingers in general…
According to leaked harbinger rankings, the 10th spot was left open for years. (Pierro- Director. Capitano-1… 10-empty.)
After Scaramouche erased himself from Irminsul’s records, I assume the Fatui would then be saying that the sixth place was left open for years too.
    Sixth, and tenth, missing…
What if the same thing happened with both of them? After all, it doesn’t make sense for someone as fearsome as Childe to be a lower rank than… nothing.
So, what if number ten was also erased from Irminsul? Tinfoil hat territory, of course- as are most of my brain dumps- but it could be entirely possible. Also, the fact we’re getting leaks about the tenth place being empty, AFTER the whole revelation that Irminsul can be changed… seems a little too coincidental, in my opinion.
Which also then begs the question- who would that tenth harbinger be?
If it was someone, I feel like it would probably be someone we have already met- someone we wouldn’t have suspected until now, that we meet early in the game. I just don’t know who.
Probably a Mondstadt Character, too… maybe even one we haven’t seen properly fight yet, like Lisa or Kaeya. (Would be pretty damn interesting to have one of the starter characters be a secret harbinger all along LMAO)
Who knows? Anyways this comment is getting too long, and I shall save you, most humble reader, from reading more tangents.
And, Roozevelt- Thanks for the amazing video!! Your videos are the best theory videos I’ve seen, and they go into a lotta depth in my opinion. Plus, you condense the knowledge perfectly, so that it’s understandable.
Hope you blow up in popularity soon! You’d def deserve it.
    Have a great day! 💕✨

Yeah, the lunar cycle thing I originally thought (back in like 1.2 ha) was just developer limitations or laziness. But now there's no way, given the amount of detail they put in!!!
I've heard various theories about seelies and the moon sisters being similar to the different 'ranks' of angels, and that seemed like a reasonable comparison. But I don't even know where to start with theorizing on that given we still only have crumbs 😭 I wouldn't be surprised if we get dumped with a lot of seelie lore when we meet Columbina (I'm in the camp thinking she's a seelie).
As for Khaenri'ah and Eclipse Dynasty.... I can't even begin to speculate on this either because I will morb too much. It's one of my most anticipated lore drops!!
Oh, interesting you should mention Kaeya and Lisa. I don't think I've mentioned this in a video but during a patch from last year with the Bake Danuki event, Kaeya bought all the food from restaurants in Liyue and Mondstadt to wine and dine the Fatui. I joked a looot about him being the next Harbinger, especially given Khaenri'ah connections with Pierro (and this was also before Winter Lazzo trailer dropped, so I've been brainrotting about Pierro since I started the game basically HAHA).
and thank you SO much! you're too kind 🤩 I'm glad you enjoy my videos, and I always love hearing other theories (or just learning things I missed) and waiting for more lore drops to obsess over!!

there are a fair number of scattered mentions of the red moon in Genshin , the one that always comes to mind is in Solar Pearl's lore. The smith who forged the Solar pearls had such strong will that it "breached the firmament" and gained the gaze of the heavens or something like that.
Honestly the red moon is so interesting but i can't decide whether is means the abyss or the heavens , though your tinfoil theory about a cyclic nature of the red and black moon gave me some food for thought.
oh yeah also raiden's plane of euthymia also had a red moon.

    • @roozeveltfox
      @roozeveltfox  Год назад +5

OH WOW I had TOTALLY forgotten about the Solar Pearl lore. You're right that it does add some confusion about being abyssal vs heavenly, but iirc there's also really no wording or indication that the heavens had anything to do with Gurabad and its destruction.
I'm gonna put my tinfoil hat on though. Actually, let me put on my full body aluminized suit. After we got the Paradise Lost set, we learned that the Second Throne came beyond the firmament and they brought illusions etc. I remember initially questioning if the Second Throne, then, was abyssal in nature. I recently saw a really compelling reddit post arguing this point, too. What if... the red moon is abyssal, and Kunwu saw it beyond the firmanent, but mistook it as a heavenly body? IS THE RED MOON AN ELDRITCH HORROR???? /tinfoil
oh yeah the Plane of Euthymia! My initial thinking since it's Ei's mind castle of sorts that it could be a representation of the trauma she has bottled up -- i.e. losing Makoto and Chiyo during the cataclysm.

I think the desert is a microclimate or taste of what's happening or has happened. The Liloupar marrying Orzmand sounds too much like the Seelie(envoys of the gods that guide humanity) marrying an outworlder.
Deshret's experiments with changing fate by hivemind are emphasized in Fontaine with Rene even taking inspiration from his tech and notes on an energy source with 'will' and so trying to weaponize human dreams to achieve the project. I also find it so sus that we get everything about King Deshret except a flashback cutscene. Even Ghuizong has a face now.

Hello there. Just here to mention a persian legend about a tyrant named Zahhāk who was manipulated by the devil and was kissed on each shoulder by him, from where two snakes appeared, then he killed his father to become the king. He would feed young people to his snakes so that they wouldn't eat him up instead. Finally he was conquered by a revolution and people decided to hang him in the peak of a montagne called "Damavand" (which originally exists in Iran) eternally. Legends say that he is still there, suffering for his crimes.
I just can't stop seeing the similarities between the story of Gurabad (which has a persian name itself meaning "the city of graves") and this legend. But I just can't connect them as you do in your videos. Your theories always make sense to me and I really appreciate what you're doing. So I thought of retelling this here. Hope it helps somehow.

The name of that wenut is indeed alarming! And I remember him being blind. The material he drops is also a weird flower. Just reminds me of the Desert Pavilion Chronicle artifact set description which is told by a seemingly blind man (when I saw that, I just thought he was Shiruyeh, telling his journey before losing his mind completely). And the flower of that set is kinda similar to the material the wenut boss drops. So what if it's actually him? Zahhāk is also known as "Azhi Dahāka" which means "the evil serpent" or "the evil dragon". He is a descendant of the Jinn after all, it's possible if he ends up turning into a monster.
But yet it is told that the wenuts are much more ancient than that :((

    Good evening gentlemen!
Now, I would like to give a little lecture on a concept known as the "Cycle of Fates"
Prophecies are curious little things, often with a self fulfilling nature. If left untouched, some may not come to pass, but if tried to actively circumvent around it, will always certainly come to pass.
Liloupar is a curious thing, as she gave out a prophecy but also gave out measures on how they could have prevented the disaster from occurring in the first place, as each prophecy is self fulfilling in nature.
When it comes to Genshin, the cycle of fates is a prevalent concept, with the cycle of moons, the twilight cycle of celestial abyss, the cyclical destruction of the world and its renewal, however what ties them all together you might say?
Prophecies, allegories etc, they all exist and when decoded give a glimpse into the forbidden past of the world, but mortal minds are actively fraught with fear, and thus in an attempt to prevent such an event from occurring again, they set in motion the same events that occurred in distant past.
The traveller follows the footsteps of their sibling, Khaenriah followed the footsteps of Deshret etc.
    Nighty night!

While listening along with this lore video I feel inclined to interject on the subject of slavery. Just a few details to clear up what appears to be a modern day our world misconception.
During the time periods discussed in Tehvat, slavery was quite common. Many of the people who were slaves actually were taken better care of then those who were free. Which is to say the slave owners had to abide by certain rules such as providing food, shelter, etc. It may not have been the highest point of living but there were much worse examples. When the slaves were made to be free they suddenly lost the protection of their Lords and were treated far worse as working class individuals. The desert is after all a harsh place to live. Also the switch to jinn powered automation was not only a cruelty inflicted upon the Jinn but also created a very draconian working environment where the human workers would often lose limbs working alongside them. As the network of canals fell into disrepair the greater population suffered all the more greatly. Basically society collapsed as there was no plan in place to switch from one lifestyle to another. Very similar to being a company employee all expenses paid to suddenly becoming abandoned and bankrupt without a job, a place to live or the guarantee of food whilst in the middle of the desert. Uneducated and without necessarily any trade skills, many individuals were obviously taken advantage of or simply outright died. It wouldn't be uncalled for to refer to it as children being abandoned in the wild left to fend for themselves. With their entire way of life being taken away from them and no one to guide them but the mad ravings of a man wearing a brass mask. Whom of which was merely manipulating the situation to gain some semblance of personal vengeance and personal status. Meanwhile Liloupar previously blinded by love realized she was being used and sought her own vengeance. You could say all of it was caused by the lack of compassion and narcissistic behavior of Ormazd. He was basically a sociopath through and through.
There is plenty of blame to go around however, King Deshret certainly did not keep up much of a vigilance during this time and failed to uphold his end of the bargain with the Jinn. He also actively opened the door to forbidden knowledge and brought about great ruin in his own right. One could say his love of the Goddess of Flower's was more an obsession of lust that blinded him from everything else. Namely the people under his care whom he failed repeatedly.

@Horne Bake they do make some changes sometimes but they didn't change Azhadaha's name to a Chinese one. they definitely knew for a long time that Liyue is supposed to be like China and that Sumeru would be a mix of South Asian, West Asian, and Middle Eastern cultures.

I just had a really random thought. Nahida's existence overwrote Rukkhadevata's, does that mean Nahida knew Deshret and the Goddess of Flowers?
She was locked up but what happened in her life prior to that?
