- I sailed on Celebrity Edge in February 2022 for a 7-night voyage to the Western Caribbean. In this full review of the ship and my experience, I debate whether the Celebrity Edge is the PERFECT cruise ship. I had an amazing experience onboard the Celebrity Edge, only my second cruise onboard a Celebrity Cruise, but I promise there will be many more to come.

The Celebrity Edge is a beautiful ship, with stunning venues - from restaurants to the theater to shops and entertainment - and some of the best service at sea. The $1.4 billion dollar ship was so thoughtfully designed, to make every square inch feel like a luxurious work of art. In this video I will also compare the Celebrity Edge to the Celebrity Apex, and tell you a little bit about my plans to sail the Celebrity Beyond, the upcoming third ship in the fabulous Edge-class of cruise ships!

I just got off the Edge after doing a 8 day Italy and Greece cruise. The ship was less then half full about 1,300 guests. The food, Service and entertainment was superb. I use to cruise in Aqua Class, but too many amenities were taken away...Such as personalized stationary, Tapas delivered daily, Canvass Tote bag, designer soaps and shampoos all gone...The huge amount of money I saved from sailing in Aqua Class and just having a Verander, I was able to eat in specialty dining every night if I wanted. But the complementary dining was great. Celebrity cruises I rated it at a 8.5 out of 10. Fantastic.

@@ZachtheTravelingMan Also one MAJOR POINT...I think you would do a service if you mentioned covid testing to re-enter the United States. On our sailing on May 6th, 2022...by the 3rd day 7 passengers were positive for Covid, they were isolated in their cabin for at least 7 days min and then had to test negative...Many people on our cruise were walking around on tours with NO MASKS...by the 7th day 30 people tested positive...Here is the real deal if you test positive on and off the celebrity ships in Europe...If you test positive on board you will not be allowed to disembark the ship at the end of the cruise if you are still positive..you will be confined in a cabin with a window and will be leaving with the ship on the next cruise. You will continue until you test negative, Once you test negative you will be taken off the ship at the very next port where ever that may be. SECONDLY...If you disembark from the cruise ship YOU MUST take a covid test the SAME DAY you fly to the United States, if you test Positive you be denied boarding the plane and whatever country you are in, you will be quarantined in the cheapest motel they can find...you will be responsible for all costs associated...If you booked flights with Celebrity it will cost you $100 per person to arrange new flights..if you didn't book with Celebrity, you will incur all costs...TELL PEOPLE it might be great not wearing a mask, but there can be great repercussions if you test positive...maybe you can make a video about this...I witnessed 6 couples being denied disembarkation....
Greta points. In my latest video I talk about this a bit and how I’m carrying eMed tests so I can test anywhere. But it is good to consider the risks of letting your guard down too much, especially when it means you can avoid getting stuck on vacation for longer than you intended to.

I watched your Celebrity Apex videos before I went on the Celebrity Edge and it helped me so much and I loved the Celebrity Edge. I am currently on the Wonder of the Seas and I will be on the Celebrity Beyond in June and I am looking forward to your impression of the ship and also the places that you visit. Totally agree with you regarding Celebrity. We are booked B2B on Silhouette going to Norway then the Baltics in May and then a TA in October. In 2023 we are looking forward to the Edge for a B2B in the Med with a Sky Suite! Love your video’s.

The thing is, while you get the same or hopefully the same level of service and food, the ship options are so different on the Edge vs. the Solstice. They almost seem like different lines.
This ship is far from perfect. Far from it. I'm a long-time Celebrity cruiser and I have a lot of issues with this class of ship. My major issue is it doesn't have a lot of what Solstice ships have. The second issue is it reserves prime real estate for Retreat passengers at the expense of other passengers.
There's an expression that says dance with the ones that brought you. I don't like that Celebrity has abandoned those who like libraries, card rooms, quiet hideaway spaces, elegant lounges (especially), and access to prime areas of the ship. I couldn't care less how new or pretty this ship is, it lacks some fundamental areas that most ships have.
1. There is no observation lounge. How? How does any ship lack that? Eden is no substitute. No way.
2. It is so full of restaurants it forgets that magic happens in dedicated lounges. People have to resort to dancing and socializing in the martini bar and surrounds that is in the Grand Plaza. That's not a lounge. Or, they can dance in the nice enough 2 tier club but that has the atmosphere of a night club. Or, they dance in some spot in Eden. What ship doesn't have at least 2 lounges for people to dance in? I can't think of any. The Solstice has the Observation Lounge at least and I guess you could dance in the Ensemble Lounge. Of course you can dance on deck but that's a different atmosphere than an interior area.
I think that the restaurant after restaurant is somewhat excessive. I think Celebrity should make two of the specialty dining rooms supper clubs with a lounge area and dance floor so one can have a more elegant and purposeful area to dance than in the Martini Bar. Latin dance, rock, swing dance, a ship like RCI has lounges for each of those types of dancing.
I like the 4 dining rooms, that's probably an improvement. You either like Eden or not. I'm not the biggest fan of another big, tiered area. I like the buffet and the deck spaces and bars and such. But to take away so many spaces from Solstice is not dancing with the one that brought you. And compared to other ships, I find this class wanting and specifically because it lacks the spaces I mentioned that other classes of ships have from Celebrity and other lines.
I just got back from a Rome to Barcelona trip. The ship was beautiful, but I found the amenities boring. Service was great. It's no longer All Inclusive, you pay for alcohol, sodas and specialty dining.
Really....it was meh.

Hellooooo. I will have a cruise im celebrity edge in august to alaska. I am a portuguese girl and I am so nervous, because I dont known if it was a good choise...it is a dream came true going to alaska ...
Question: what happens if the Port is canceled due to bad weather? Can your paid excursions be refunded? Who do you go to to get the refund?
I loved my recent experience on the Edge, and while the ship was beautiful and the rooms stunning, I was most impressed by the crew. They were absolutely fantastic and extremely personable. I can't wait to sail with Celebrity again.

We recently got back from an Italy/Greece cruise on the Edge which was amazing!! Like you our only off day with the food was at Cosmopolitan...it just wasnt that good. Also we really didnt like the infinite veranda....it was extrememly slow and noisy to put up and down (could hear others as well) and by the last port they were so dirty with salt etc that we couldnt really see out of them. But other than that the ship was amazing and the crew and service was top notch. Hoping to do a Norwegian Fjiords cruise next year with Celebrity.

I’ve done aqua class a few times and won’t do any less than that on Celebrity. Blu is amazing. Tonight though I just booked a suite class on Edge for April 2023 and can’t wait. I must add to your review that suite class can also go to Blu and really can’t wait to compare Liminaire amd Blu on the same cruise. Amd I’ve been itching to get into the Retreat! Can’t wait.

Great information,I'm planning to take the Edge out of Australia Jan 2025 to the South Pacific.I'm curious with booking the basic,what restaurants are included compared to the extra cost dining
The 4 Main Dining Rooms (Tuscan, Cosmopolitan, Normandie, and Cyprus) are all included in your cost. As is Oceanview Cafe. Everything else has some kind of additional cost.

Loved your video....great inputs thank you I am looking forward to sail in mid august 2022....what can you say about the food experience I will have as a vegetarian...I have mentioned my preference but do they have enough options.....Also could you please say something about shore excursions I am going from Rome to Barcelona
There is usually at least one vegetarian option in the main dining room each evening. And lots of options on the buffet as well. I actually just did that itinerary on the Beyond so check out those videos on my channel soon.
Have you been on RC Allure/Oasis/Harmony/Symphony? If so, how do you feel Celebrity compares to RC? My dad (age 75) and I (age 42) are looking to take a 7 night cruise to celebrate his retirement and I can not choose between the above listed RC ships and Celebrity Edge. Any insight would help enormously !
Hey Kristin - unfortunately I still haven’t been on any of those Oasis class Royal ships yet. I think those ships have more “fun” and family oriented activities (water slides and the like) than what you’ll find on Celebrity, which is more laid back cruising with fantastic shows and amazing food. There is definitely an older demographic on Celebrity compared to RC. Congrats to your dad on his retirement! How lovely of you to do that for him.
Also- could you specifically say which is extra charge for the things that are extra in your videos? Lots of food these days are extra charges- I’m always wondering if say -Eden is extra or anything outside main dining room and buffet- whether it’s an extra charge.

Can other suite guests (Celebrity, Icon, etc.) also experience the Blue restaurant, or is it only for Aqua guests?
It is only for Aqua guests, to the best of my understanding.
Like you, we are committed Celebrity cruisers. Unfortunately, 2 of our Edge cruises were cancelled but our replacement cruises are in Europe in May onboard the Silhouette and Australia in October onboard the Eclipse. Have to get on an Edge Class ship but S-Class ships are very nice too. Celebrity excels in service, food and overall experience.

Is Eden available for all cruisers? what do aqua class get that regular cruisers do not?
Yes! Anyone can book dining at Eden for the additional charge of $60 or so. However, you can just visit the bar and activities back there for free and not dine there. Aqua Class cruisers get access to the thermal suites in the spa and complimentary access to the Blu restaurant all cruise long.

I just got off Royal Caribbean's Wonder of the Seas on her maiden voyage. Let me tell you; while I was on that ship, all I could think of was how much I wish I was on a Celebrity cruise ship. Seriously! And I'm not just talking about Edge class ships! In my opinion, even Millennium class ships are better than Oasis and Quantum class ships on Royal Caribbean. The level of service, the food quality, the passengers, the decor; everything on Celebrity is head and shoulders better than what you get on Royal Caribbean.

There is a club onboard where they have music each night, but you’re not gonna find the party vibe that is on Royal and Carnival.

We just got off Apex transatlantic and it was nice. We ate in eden on Apex, loved it. We will be on the Edge for the grand voyage to Australia in 2023, it is what it is!

We have sailed with Royal before and in a few weeks we will be on our first Celebrity ship and in Aqua Class. I have heard people say they only book Aqua now bc of Blu. Do you feel the same?

Yes! The top window slides all the way down so you have a normal height “balcony”.
