Letter to CEO,
We are reaching out to share our recent experience aboard the Celebrity Edge Cruise to the Great Barrier Reef on October 22, 2024. What was meant to be a joyful celebration of our 20th anniversary turned into a troubling ordeal due to significant health concerns.
Upon returning home, I was diagnosed with a throat infection, which my doctor believes was likely caused by inhaling soot from the ship’s engines while relaxing on the sun loungers, Aft Stateroom veranda, and pool area. Additionally, my wife experienced nausea and dizziness throughout the cruise, which greatly detracted from our much-anticipated celebration.
Our Cabin Steward confirmed the soot issue, highlighting that it affects multiple areas of the ship. I also have a video documenting the extent of the soot situation, which I am happy to provide upon request.
Although we raised our concerns with the Captain during a Q&A session, we were disappointed to receive no follow-up communication. Given the seriousness of our health issues, we feel it is reasonable to formally request a full refund for our trip.
We appreciate your attention to this matter and your understanding of our situation. We look forward to your prompt response.

EVERY SINGLE ONE OF MY WHITE SHIRTS ARE STAINED FROM THAT SOOT OMG. Having said that, I was sitting at the sunset lounge which is BEHIND the smoke stacks. The pool area is in front so I doubt you got your throat infection from that. Also, I'm not going to request a refund or ask for compensation because of something like this... That's just being petty. Next time sanitize your hands before/after going to bathroom. Don't blame Celebrity.

@ Why not ask for compensation. Soot is very toxic! Could be fatal! We deserve better!
