  • Hello everyone! in this video I show you how I prep my food/ restock my fridge for the week! I wash all my greens/ put them in containers so I can easily use them throughout the week. Then I make a couple instant pot recipes- today I made pea soup and herbed white beans. I also made12 vegan egg rolls!
Recipes I make with these prepped ingredients are: huge salads with lots of veggies greens, beans and seeds, stir frys with lots of veggies and tempeh or tofu, and smoothies with the leafy greens and frozen fruit and seeds.

I soak my lettuce in water with a splash of acv for about 10 minutes, then I change the water and let it soak for 5 more minutes. Any bugs or germs will be completely gone. 😊
If I have produce in the fridge that's not going to last much longer, I either freeze it or make creamy veggie soups and smoothies. 😁

My favorite way to clean my grapes is to put a good bit of baking soda in a large bowl and add vinegar enough to dissolve it. Then fill the rest up with water. I soak them for at least 20 mins, then rinse thoroughly and leave them in the colander to dry. I feel like they taste better and they last longer in the fridge. The is the first video recommending of yours and I'm happy to find it! It's nice to see someone else eating WFPB but also having a couple "processed" things around like the alt cheeses and stuff. The WFPB no salt, oil etc community can be so toxic with perfectionism. I've been eating this way for 7ish years and spent a majority of it feeling guilty for eating a drop of oil or sprinkle of salt. Not anymore. I eat my WFPB foods and love them and use salt and "processed foods" occasionally without guilt.

I knew that about Mushrooms and there used to be a mushroom farm not far from where I live and the soil from the dairy farm across the road at the milking sheds was scraped about once a month and sent to the mushroom farm to grow the mushrooms in. Yes poo and all, that's why I always wash them well. I have been told many times that you don't wash mushrooms and my answer was always ''Maybe you don't but I wash everything....''

I love collard greens. I make, what we call budin. I sautee onions with garlic add ulur collard greens with ashreded carrots or in small pieces, green beans and also add about half a cup of bread .crums. and all the herbs you wish plus salt and pepper. Finish sauteeing al, the vegetables all together and then add the bread crums. When cool, if you like, add three eggs or its equivalent , mix it all together ad add it into a greased pyrex and put it in the oven until fully cooked. I love this. I am not vegan, i just do not lime meat, so I eat it very rarely. I love vegetable budins. Best wishes and a hug from Chile, my explanation must be very confusing, I am sorry.🥰🥰🥰

Have you thought about getting a dehydrator or freeze drier…..with fresh food shortages pending in the future, as they are saying strawberries, rice, grains etc…etc…I’d be putting up some in vac bags or vac sealing jars…..it’s just a suggestion.
I won’t buy commercial freeze dried because of cost but I do dehydrate( I can’t afford a freeze drier) …last night I rehydrated sweet potatoes, onions and used green powder in my dinner. I also put mini peppers and fresh garlic in vinegar and keep those in the fridge….for months.
Say there’s a power outage or power glitz at your markets and you can’t shop….. having dehydrated ready to use and toss into a grain could be a handy meal to get you through. I still am dehydrating store bought canned petite tomatoes which have more flavor then some of the fresh from the store…..
I also can lentils, beans, potatoes and mixed veggies…..dehydrating some of them also…..
Last year I couldn’t find squashes and if I did they were priced high…..so during the winter when I found them on sale I dehydrated them and put in pint mason jars……using them in all my recipes to add veggies…..

I have a nice dehydrator but I’ve only used it a few times tbh! I need to use it more

@@Chantymarie l struck it good today at our Walmart…there’s only 3 grocery stores in my town….no Aldi or Trader Joe’s close.
I got a lot of marked down produce and in the dehydrator they’ll go……
We’re not crazy about cooked celery, I love it fresh so I bought two large bunches to make into celery powder and celery salt. I dehydrate mushrooms and make powder with them and add it to my lentil patties and it makes them taste meatier. Tofu was marked down and I marinate it in BBQ sauce then grill the strips and cut it up for salads.
Zucchini was $1.80 each……wow….hope mine grow this year……bought a box of mixed greens …some for my lunch the rest into the dehydrator.
My husband isn’t a veggie eater but what happens in the kitchen stays in the kitchen…🤣lol…. That’s why I dehydrate a lot.
Remember me saying I dehydrated petite canned tomatoes for salads and dressings…..they went up $ .40 a can since last week…

Great video, thank you. Pea soup recipe looks delicious. How long do the kale and romaine last in the fridge? Do you put them in the containers totally dry? Thank you 🙏💜

    • @Chantymarie
      @Chantymarie  2 года назад

thank you! the romaine lasts one week and the kale will last like 10 days! I usually use it after a week though. no they are not totally dry they are slightly wet which helps keep them crisp in the containers

That's actually how I wash my mushrooms. I only wash the ones I'm going to use for whatever dish. You have to wash them right before and dry them off since they absorb water.

Do you have a water filtration system? For now I use filtered reverse osmosis to wash organic vegies since the municipal water contains all kinds of chemicals, heavy metals etc. and fluoride. I also dip the dishes in the filtered water after washing them in the municipal water from the faucet.
