I actually tried to get into modding this game recently. The game engine being Godot, as you mentioned, actually makes things pretty hard to work with from my (limited) experience since you can’t just edit the files, and no tools that I know of have been developed to make them easier to work with. On top of that, modders don’t really care about this game at all from what I have seen. At this point I can just hope, but with school starting soon I doubt I’ll be able to do anything with this game that I want to. Here’s hoping some other more experienced modders find the will, as you said.
@@traviscunningham7062 agreed on the DS part that version is just amazing But I would actually choose ultimate over wii cause of the satisfying homing attack actually and having more boost makes the game way more fun
I played this game on xbox a few weeks (? I forgot so i dont have the best approximation other than it was after the massive 10gb bugfix which mind you is bigger than colors ultimate itself) and i faced little to no issues, the only things that really rattle my bones per say is how cranked up the bloom is and the fact they coated the entire game in Vaseline. I also have one theory about how the game switched the boost and stomp buttons, this probably has something to do with original colors because if you map the buttons on say an xbox controller to the gamecube controller based on the button names then the same exact issue arises so maybe somehow that had involvement. Nonetheless the remaster is subpar at best.
3:57 with the Planet Wisp remix, you do y get it unless you pay for DLC and the remixes can’t be turned off, so you can pay extra to permanently make the game worse
At least I don't think Unleashed is gonna face the same fate as Colors. Unleashed was given patches for xbox series x, so a remaster would just be confusing.
In Sweet Mountain act I don’t remember, but it’s the one with the jade wisp where you mentioned you got soft locked. You aren’t actually soft locked, you can slide under a gap to get into the next part of the intended jade wisp section. Still doesn’t justify how shattered the port is

5:22 You’re not. You have to slide to the left of you, and it’ll take you down to where there’s a Red Ring, which, once you collect, the game provides you with another Jade Wisp to escape. Also, is it bad that I enjoyed this remaster? Yea, it probably is. It’s still sad that it’ll probably never be touched again by the developers.
Someone only recently started modding the game to fix many of these issues, and it seems pretty promising so far. I haven't played this version or the original but one thing I can talk about is the music. I firmly believe fans would not be as hard on the new remixes if they were played in acts 4,5 and 6 or you could change to the original ost at any point. In a vacuum without comparing every single pointless detail, the soundtrack is good and I'm tired of pretending it's not.
I mean, if you enjoy it, that's great. I personally think the mix sounds incredibly amateur in the remixes, and I dislike the loud pianos in Tropical Resort, the over-the-top dance loop in Planet Wisp, and the much less punchy trumpets in Sweet Mountain. The game actually plays the original OST in some levels (and you can switch to it in the settings, though that wasn't a thing before the patches), but it just throws me off due to the quality gulf between the originals and the remixes. Could’ve been the best most faithful remaster of the Wii game possible, it still would’ve sucked that it doesn’t have the DS content, that’s still the best version. How could they call a game the “ultimate” version when it’s missing half the gameplay and story content from the original release? Also unrelated, even though I actually prefer the visuals of Ultimate, I still would never recommend it over the Wii version because the game feels way better with a Wii remote + nunchuck than a standard controller. a good example that it was designed for that controller is the full second delay when you activate a wisp (which is not in the DS version btw) which exists to offset the fact that you activate it by flicking the Wii remote. It’s like the spin from Mario Galaxy, feels great on the Wii, but feels sluggish and underpowered with a button, because it was designed for a waggle, not a button.
