  • Nominalizers are very handy grammar items that convert verbs (or sometimes entire sentences) into a noun. They can be very useful when you want to speak about an action as a noun. In this lesson, you will learn how to make verbs work as a noun like “eating” (as in "I like eating sushi".) and “to eat”(as in "I like to eat sushi") in English.

    Btw the の is just a possessive form from のもと (and the "moto" is just an invisible noun that possess this and everything else you apply before の without 'after' part :)). The literal translation would be like "That thing of [phrase]". "That thing of 'Watch TV', I don't like it". I think the のもと is actually how this explained for Japanese kids in school to not break construction of AのB.

    Could you explain, please, why do we use のこと in this situation?

    • @taksensei6217
      @taksensei6217  7 месяцев назад

      「のこと」is not a nominalizer in this case, as that is attached to 「あなた」 which is a noun. This こと is more like "things". So, the translation of your sentence is "I like anything/everything about you." Hope this helps.
