      He's full of hot air. He'll never discuss anti-Catholicism because that would lead to him talking about the treatment of Catholic immigrants in which he'd have to admit that he's regurgitated the same takes as the Protestant nativists of yesteryear. He's not going to use the Mexican-American War as the shining example of why we shouldn't just trust the government because that chapter in American history is harmful to the message he preaches. He failed to discuss Autistic Sex Education. Frankly, I've no doubt he fits Kyle Rearden's description of the Patriot Rockstar.
      Heck, just wait and see what happens if Ron DeSantis becomes president. My hunch is that he's going to go back to the old smears of "papists spreading Popery" because he put all his chips in the basket of Trump, a Protestant old fart.

Honestly just the lack of modern technology meant some kinds of totalitarianism were functionally impossible.

    Great episode of the podcast with a great guest. I think his analysis is spot on, I thought he hit the nail on the head in talking about how we need to see the reality of our situation instead of being stuck pushing a ideological utopia. We should focus on building our communities and righteous systems, from the bottom up. Good stuff!

    • @SirBlackReeds
      @SirBlackReeds 6 месяцев назад

      Has he actually done anything that shows he's not just paying lip service? Frankly, he doesn't even see the reality that no matter how great our immigration system becomes, there will always be people who sees one particular ethnic or religious group succeeding too much at immigrating to the United States and will cry "we're getting replaced." Don't believe me? Why do you think the immigrants that stepped off the boats were treated like vermin?

    (9:46) _We were sold this kind of idea that we were gonna set up a really neutral government. That we're gonna have this public square which was open to everybody and there was never going to be any kind of ideological push one way or another. We had this government that was constructed by the Constitution and it would make sure that it kind of operated on its own in perpetuity without kind of the ideological influence of one side or the other. And this would not only be the way that we ran our government but also how we would also operate most of our public institutions in general._
    _Such as education, even those that are supposed to be private but obviously have a public role like corporations. These things were going to always be interested in something specific like making money or making sure that we have the best roads or you know making sure that kids can read, write, and do math and they're not going to actually instill anybody's worldview because we're this multi-cultural, multi-value milieu of different ideas that come together. So we all have to be governed by something neutral that wouldn't impose one group's values on the other_
    _That was never true. That was always very clearly not the case_
    _The only reason that we even had the illusion of neutrality in our institutions is that we basically had a cultural consensus of protestant Christianity and because everyone was some flavor of protestant Christian our main thing was we just don't want you to push your version of protestant Christianity onto us. We want to be able to worship the way we want to but we all have the basic assumptions of what a Christian worldview would be. Maybe those ended up not being sufficient to hold together. Look at our situation. But the point is the only reason an institution's ever felt neutral is we all shared a very similar set of values and now we've seen that without the imposition of those values, by just assuming that those values would perpetuate themselves forever, we actually opened up a situation where other values took over those institutions. So because Protestant Christianity wasn't obviously recognized as the bedrock structure of our nation, our values, morality, and our identity we then allowed other things to enter in. That's why we're seeing wokeness seems to operate as a religion for this reason. It is filling that void and it is trying to do what Protestant Christianity used to do which is become the bedrock Assumption of morality. Because it is so desperately different from what we're used to as being moral our moral visions have now become completely existentially opposed_

    Do I know a single Christian with the courage of like a Richard Wurmbrand? I've been incarcerated 6 times, and the last time barely escaped being a convicted felon and 5 years in state prison. And never committed any crime! I believe if I fight against immorality the way I have in the past, in the very near future, maybe even now, I could be locked up for a long time! Am I willing to take a stand if I know the results could be very bad for me? I am no Richard Wurmbrand. Definitely not an Apostle Paul. I would almost rather let Jesus give men the consequences of their sin than use me to say things that could get me persecuted....I am a soft Christian, and trying my best to protect my children the best I know how. I need Jesus to do it all because I feel helpless to raise them with a Christian worldview

      He simps for Vivek because the Indian American made him feel good. You can think what you want, but the reality is the Protestant nativists turned immigration into a moral panic by crying "we're getting replaced here" among other things. Vivek is stoking those same flames and MacIntyre cheered him on. How long until it starts to tear the nation asunder?
