Other notes: After the Indiana drill, we headed down to Ossian to record this very healthy Model 7 for a noon blast. Unfortunately, the blast was a lot shorter than when it was first filmed back in 2016. The chopper only got up to its peak pitch for about a second, and we didn't get directly underneath until it already started winding down. Despite that, we could still tell that it would've been super loud from there while at full speed since this thing is decently low mounted. It was pretty windy while we were here, and that unfortunately caused my main shot to drift to where the siren was pretty low in the frame. Fortunately, the siren never cut out of frame and it stayed decently well-centered, so I just cropped out some of the top of the footage to make it framed better. I did try to re-correct the framing towards the end of the wind down, so I made it to where my video editor would zoom out of the crop once I started doing that. The video also gets a bit shaky at a few points because of the wind. Despite all the flaws with this video, I really like the bokeh of the tree in the background and how all the colors look. We're thinking about maybe coming back here at some point in the coming months on a more calm day to get better videos of this and to experience it from directly underneath at full speed. Enjoy!
