Other notes: Back in March, we carpooled Benicio and Alex to a couple siren tests for the first Saturday. This one was the second (and main) test we attempted. The first test we attempted was an Eclipse 8 in Milton Center, Ohio in Wood County, but the Eclipse 8 failed to go off. After that minor disappointment, we headed over to catch this epic 8rpm 1003 on the north side of Auburn. DeKalb County was a few minutes late with testing this month, but once this thing roared to life, boy were we in for a treat. It put out some awesome sounding echoes off the buildings from across the street during the wind-up and down, not to mention it was quite a bit louder than we had originally anticipated. My decibel meters got up to 118.5 and 116.1 dBA from standing on a small incline around 50 feet or so from it, and Connor's maxed at 125.4 dBC. I'd say it probably felt pretty comparable to the Urbandale school 4/5 5M 'bolt to my ears if my memory serves me right, since they're both 8rpm. This was honestly one of the funnest siren tests I've gone to in a long time, it easily made up for the Eclipse failure from two hours earlier. Enjoy!
