This has to have been a special visit for you. I know how passionate you are about historic places. One thing that stood out to me was Germans basically habitually setting their presence in stone, literally. Perhaps it is a cultural thing, considering old Germany had castles and what not. By contrast hearing how much younger home of former president came to disrepair you can see why German structures are still standing strong. I never knew how many germans settled in USA until I started driving about the country finding entire communities of people.... and settlements all with unique stone architecture. Imagine crossing the pond.. traveling on a wagon to the great out west and literally building something permanent. How cool.

Very interesting to see the area and I would very much like to visit some day. I worked in San Antonio several years ago but never ventured to far outside the city. Keep up the great work.

Thanks guys! This was one of our favorite spots in 2021 - soooo much to see and do! There are actually a bunch of German heritage towns in the Texas Hill Country, you'll see another one upcoming in New Braunfels as you work your way through our past episodes. German farmers settled many of these communities. Gruene is another, as is Boerne.
Always enjoy the adventures. Thank you for sharing. I had no idea the WWII museum there was so awesome. If I ever roll by I'd be sure to spend a day. Thanks!! Take care!!
Thank you CP, you take care as well. That museum is most definitely worth a full day of your time. After three hours already I had to tell myself, "Stop reading everything and start hustling, this place is going to close before you get to the end."
I know you come from a pretty spectacular part of the globe, but I hope you enjoyed your time in what we think of as our playground. While we don't live in the Texas Hill Country, we do have a "little slice of heaven" (as we see it) that we visit -- near another German-settled town -- not too far from Fredericksburg -- Boerne, TX. We have a plaque on our wall there, "The stars at night are big and bright -- Deep in the Heart of Texas". We think of our place as being deep in the heart of Texas. We enjoy visiting everyone's deep heart places -- from Oregon to California to Utah to Colorado to New Mexico to North Carolina to Pennsylvania to New York City to the Florida Keys and back to home -- Texas. How great is it that we can do this -- how important is it that more people do this. Travel let's us see that there is more than one way to live a great life. I enjoy all your videos -- but, I really enjoyed this one -- but then, I'm probably a bit biased. 😀
Very well put, Dave. There are wonderful places in every corner of this nation to go explore. We went through Boerne back in 2019, and thought it was absolutely charming. There will come a time in the not too distant future when we will spend a week there.

Marv, that Lockheed JetStar is open in a sense, that you can walk through the entry door and peer into the passenger cabin through plexiglass. However, it was crazy dark in there so I didn't even try to shoot that. And the cabin door into the cockpit was closed.

Thank you Joy! Skiing is still a huge part of my life, and to be honest there are few places that can compare to the dependability, quality and quantity of snow that falls in the Wasatch. The terrain is also incredible, and a livable city only 20 minutes away with temperate winter weather is just a bonus.
Hi Marc, Another very interesting video as always. Off topic a bit, I am wondering if you run LT tires or P tires on your Tundra. (you probably have mentioned this at some point in the past, but my recall powers are not what they once were I suppose). Obviously you are running E tires on the 5th wheel. As always, safe travels.
Actually I don't believe that we ever mentioned it, Shawn. We're running Nitto Grappler 2 LT tires on the Tundra, and used to run Mickey Thompson Baja ATX3's. I'm always looking for an aggressive tire that'll handle both off-road travel in the desert, and the 545" of annual average snowfall in Little Cottonwood Canyon where we spend our winters.

My home town!
That's a very cool home town you've got there, Briar.
Great video as always. Did you by chance get any shots of the flight deck of Air Force One-Half. They have kept that plane up well. My better half love the beach so she is looking forward to seeing your next video.
Marv, that Lockheed JetStar is open in a sense, that you can walk through the entry door and peer into the passenger cabin through plexiglass. However, it was crazy dark in there so I didn't even try to shoot that. And the cabin door into the cockpit was closed.
Marc great video. Are you going to Quartzsite this year?
The plan is to be there for Big Tent Week, subject to winter driving conditions coming down from Utah.
Hi Marc!
Hiya Eula! It was great to have you at the Premiere tonight, thanks for coming.
Marc have you found any area in your travels that you would consider leaving Salt Lake City has your home base? I would also like to add your music choices bring me closer to the story and keeps me captivated. Thank you!
How are you doing master Marc thank you for sharing your trips with us as foreigners subscribers as overseas students enjoy to explore places unknown to us learn new information improve our English language as well. Tim and I met you and your wife in Bridger MT. I told Tim you probably are on a delay due to editing. Hope you liked the Hill Country.
@@RhondaD68 we recall very well! It was our pleasure to meet you that day, and we look forward to the next opportunity.
Just wondering about your driver's license photo that is stamped on your thumbnails. Have you found that it increases engagement?

Marc,
How was the return trip home? Did you get hit with the snow in Arizona? Wow... November really came in with a bang. We're down in the low 50's here in DFW.
Gord
We're still in the Texas Panhandle, Gord...and yup it's mighty chilly!
@@GrandAdventure Roger that... So you are now at Palo Duro for the week and then back to Utah after that...
No doubt you got the same crappy rain and cold weather yesterday and today. Tomorrow and throughout next week it clears. We will be back in the wonderful 70's all next week. Enjoy!
Gord
@@gorrdd yep. We haven't seen a drop of rain but it's still overcast and cold, with a freeze warning tonight. Thankfully after that it looks pretty good.
@@GrandAdventure What's your general elevation? We're in the 40's today which means an increase in elevation could definitely put you into freezing overnight.
No biggie... just a little premature for Texa$$...
Gord
@@gorrdd yep, we're under a freeze warning for tonight. I haven't checked exactly but I believe we're a little over 3K feet. The heated hose and space heater for the basement are both coming out tonight.
Good one Marc!! The south Pacific brings back memories, I was at Guam in the mid 80s SeaBees. Still a few pill boxes left along the coast and the POW airfield runway.
All around neat area there at Fredrichberg
It's a wonderful area, Greg, and well worth any RV travelers visit. Thank you very much for your service!!

We wish you the same for you and your family, Khatoon!
Frederick is my brothers middle name
I'm still looking for a "Guidoburg". 😄
Fredericksburg is no longer a good place for peaches, 90% of peach orchards are now wineries. Just be really, REALLY careful driving 290 between Johnson City and Fredericksburg, I call it Wino Alley and there are a lot of traffic accidents.
Honestly, it's a nasty road even without DUI drivers. No shoulders, high speed traffic, and 4 lanes.
