That would be easy, because I decluttered all of my dossier scents that I didn't like/ had a full bottle of the original and thought thought the original was better. I'll add it to my list. :)
I too love the smell of old books. I just bought a 26 year old leather bound copy or sense and sensibility and a leather bound Wuthering Heights and they smell so beautiful.
I haven’t tried that one yet, but I do have “love don’t be shy”. I find that they hit the mark on most fragrances to the point of someone else smelling it on you and thinking it’s the real thing, but I definitely agree that comparing side by side, the dry downs are almost always different and they usually go heavier on the top notes and have a weaker dry down.

I don’t mind that the dry down on dossier and Killian versions is slightly different (barely perceptible to me) given the original disappears in 2 hours but the Dossier one lasts 6-8 hours per spray. I am quite ok with that given I paid 40 bucks instead of 300 bucks for something that’s giving me a little more mileage 😅

Nobody understands my obsession with it either! I mix fragrances on my body and I also do it for my home. I make wax melts and I do my own blends for them.

I have 2 from dossier but my best is Fruity Marshmallow, dupe for Killian Don’t be shy. Omg!!! I smell like marshmallows all the time. Sugary sweet goodness, just beautiful. And the other is a dupe from le labo santal 33, smells just like it.

This was a great a video and I felt like one of the most honest and detailed videos I’ve seen. I appreciate the examples you gave that helped us imagine what the Dossier sents smell like. I also appreciate that you didn’t say every scent is spot on. I don’t think we are going to get an exact fragrance one would pay 500 dollars for 50 dollars. So thank you for breaking it down in such a detailed way. There are several fragrance I wasn’t going to buy like Dossier’s version of Tom Ford’s Oud Wood. I actually may check out now. I just got Ambery Vanilla for my niece, and it smells AMAZING. I’ve never smelled YSL Black Opium, so I don’t know how it compares, but this smells divine.
YSL black opium is headache inducing to me, but the dossier isn’t. I know it isn’t an exact dupe because of that, but I do agree that the dossier smells good! :)
I agree, the OG’s dry-down is kinda weird on me. The Dossier dupe smells kinda flat comparing to the OG, but it’s still beautiful and the dry down is a bit more consistent. The OG is too much of a roller coaster.
@@autumnmoore08 Interesting. For me it's the opposite. Gourmand scents are all I can wear and florals will knock me out for the count. Just crossing an overdrenched woman at the lights who was wearing a floral scent gave me a blinding migraine so bad I barely made it home before I began vomiting. It's a good thing there's so much variety ❤. Great video.

I got the dossier versions of these perfumes: Baccarat Rouge 540 YSL black opium Tom Ford lost cherry By Killian love don’t be shy I got my mom the Chanel coco mademoiselle and the mugler alien “dupes” and I def watched a vid and someone did NOT like the alien “dupe” lmao so idk hopefully she’ll like it. And I haven’t seen any Chanel coco mademoiselle “dupe” reviews from dossier but Chanel’s cm is def more mature than I like so we shall see!!!!
@@P1ckl3i I didn't buy the chanel fragrance, but I did test out the Alien dupe today... It is in the ball park of the original, but I find that it dries down to a softer generic floral fragrance whereas the Original scent really packs a punch. It did wear all day.. (I sprayed it on around 7am and it's 5:30 and I can still smell it) It's definitely not as strong though.

I recently made my first order from Dossier and I took the quiz that they have. I ended up buying three of the four that they recommended. They recommended to me Floral Lavender (Inspired by YSL’s Libre, I ended up not getting that one), Spicy Orchid (that one I did buy and it’s inspired by Tom Ford’s Black Orchid), Aquatic Vanilla (I also got that one and that one is inspired by Juliette has a Gun’s Vanilla Vibes) and Fruity Orange (I got that one too and that one is inspired by Clinique’s Happy). They also said that I might like Ambery Saffron (Inspired by Baccarat Rouge 540) and Floral Marshmallow (Inspired by Killian’s Love Don’t be Shy). What I also really want to try is Floral Violet (Inspired by Marc Jacobs Daisy)
Super helpful! I ordered a few and liked them, but always had issues figuring out what exactly I like in each fragrance. Thanks to your video, I was able to fully understand what I did and didn’t like about the scents I ordered. I got the Powdery Coconut (looks like they changed the name since your video) dupe for Tom Ford Soleil Blanc. It’s a little too sunscreen-y and sweet, so it’s going back. Citrus Tea dupe for Le Labo The Noir 29 was the one I expected to dislike, but love the most! Not something I would normally wear, but it evokes a very particular mood and feels like putting on a cool pantsuit. A keeper! Musky Green Tea dupe for Aventus Silver Mountain Water I found to be too masculine for me. I thought this would be my favorite due to the tea, bergamot, sandalwood, and black currant. However, i think the orris may have been what gave me an Axe body spray vibe 😅 it’s going back!

I ordered this past Saturday. It says my order is coming from Bethlehem PA. It SHOULD be here within the next few days according to the tracking. I truly hope my 3 bottle restock gets here quickly. I got Dossiers impression of YSL Libre, Mugler Alien, and Tom Ford F-ing Fabulous. I’m hoping to place ANOTHER order for my other 3 favorites, MFK Baccarat Rouge 540, Tom Ford Lost Cherry, and Kilian Love Don’t Be Shy. It’s a “well rounded” selection of “deeper” fragrances. The lighter more airy fragrances usually don’t have staying power for me. I’m hoping the clones are just as potent as the originals. Libre, Alien, and F-ing Fabulous are absolutely my most reached for scents. On an AWESOME note, 2/3 of the bottles that are coming now, have the samples. ❤️

Thank you for the video. When you mention the packaging. I've only ordered from them once and I like the fragrance. I went to order another fragrance and at checkout there is a small charge for product shipping insurance added.
It depends on the perfume. Some are better than the original (jo malone wood sage and sea salt for example) and some aren’t as good. Overall, they’re pretty good getting at least 4 hours out of all of them.
Longevity I would say it’s as good… the original Baccarat rouge has a disappearing quality because your nose goes blind to it… people around you can still smell it, or if there is a gust of wind you’ll smell it on yourself again, while the dossier doesn’t have that quality. They’re close in scent, but the dossier almost seems a bit more “bitter/sour” like bergamot zest as opposed to the original being smoother.
I think they do a great job! I definitely recommend them if you’re on a budget or you want to have a variety of different fragrances. If you already have the more expensive fragrance, you may notice that when you first spray, it will smell similar to the original, but the dry down is sometimes softer and sweeter than the original, and I believe that’s because they put more of a focus on the initial smell and not the dry down.
Just got that and four other ones. I didnt mean it has to check all of those boxes. Just don't like too floral too edible, or any kind of oud or licorice smelling stuff. Thanks for your help.
Another point to be made. I absolutely love the Maison Martin Margiela fragrances. However, I’m vegan and it’s important to buy vegan and cruelty free alternatives. So even if the dupe isn’t perfect, it’s better for the ethical practices :)
I saw that! My Walmart doesn’t have them yet, but that’s great considering how long it can take sometimes to get it through the mail. (I’m currently waiting on an order I made almost a month ago)
I ordered 6 perfumes from them about a week ago and still haven’t received an update about shipping. That said, I’ve already been slightly disappointed because one of the fragrances I ordered was their Flowerbomb dupe which I paid $29 for on Dossier…fast forward the very next day after ordering, I was in a Marshall’s store and saw the REAL Flowerbomb in the 1.7 Oz size for only $19.99 🤦🏻♀️ so I guess I’ll do a little more research before ordering particular perfumes from Dossier in the future. I’ll update when I receive my 6 perfumes.

Depends on the perfume. I find that the Jo Malone dupes last longer than the jo malone fragrances do, but overall, I notice that dossier puts more effort into the top notes than the base notes and that tends to smell stronger at first, but then fade away faster and not have as much depth in the dry down.
Not a fan personally tried the woody chestnut and I own the margiela jazz club and fire place and it just doesn’t even come close. Save your money and go for the margiela in my opinion

Great video! I’ve been SO close several times to ordering Musky Gaiac…but when I read reviews of the Le Labo, some people talk about it smelling like BBQ or even BBQ’d meat! Does the Dossier go there?
Woody Chestnut if you're looking for a sweet vanilla with a little bit of smoke. The Woody tobacco is quite similar, but the tobacco is present and gives it a slightly more masculine edge (in a good way).
I don’t know how similar it is, but I tried it recently and generally liked it fine although thought it was a bit flat. That being said layering with Woody Chestnut gives it everything it’s missing. Adds the smoky spiciness to the Jo Malone and balances Woody Chestnut with a bit of sweet light heliotrope
You’re right in saying that lots of perfumes contain PFAS (forever chemicals), however, in most cases that isn’t what causes the perfume to last longer on the skin or project. Typically, perfume concentration and the notes in the fragrance are what determines longevity. There are a ton of body sprays on the market that contain PFAS and body sprays typically only last an hour or 2. :)
@@Pray1989 their version of Bacarrat Rouge is a safe bet and they also came out with their own version of “Love Don’t be Shy” and I’m sure she’d get compliments wearing it.

I don’t have the original, but I do have dossier’s and it’s beautiful. It makes me want the original. I did smell the original a couple of weeks back at Nordstrom and it was similar from what I can remember, but I didn’t do a side-by-side sniff test

I just tested Floriental Marshmallow and Love Don't Be Shy side by side and they are CRAZY similar!! Couldn't tell a difference until the dry down!

I have 2 from dossier but my best is Fruity Marshmallow, dupe for Killian Don’t be shy. Omg!!! I smell like marshmallows all the time. Sugary sweet goodness, just beautiful. And the other is a dupe from le labo santal 33, smells just like it.

This was a great a video and I felt like one of the most honest and detailed videos I’ve seen. I appreciate the examples you gave that helped us imagine what the Dossier sents smell like. I also appreciate that you didn’t say every scent is spot on. I don’t think we are going to get an exact fragrance one would pay 500 dollars for 50 dollars. So thank you for breaking it down in such a detailed way. There are several fragrance I wasn’t going to buy like Dossier’s version of Tom Ford’s Oud Wood. I actually may check out now. I just got Ambery Vanilla for my niece, and it smells AMAZING. I’ve never smelled YSL Black Opium, so I don’t know how it compares, but this smells divine.
YSL black opium is headache inducing to me, but the dossier isn’t. I know it isn’t an exact dupe because of that, but I do agree that the dossier smells good! :)
I agree, the OG’s dry-down is kinda weird on me. The Dossier dupe smells kinda flat comparing to the OG, but it’s still beautiful and the dry down is a bit more consistent. The OG is too much of a roller coaster.
@@autumnmoore08 Interesting. For me it's the opposite. Gourmand scents are all I can wear and florals will knock me out for the count. Just crossing an overdrenched woman at the lights who was wearing a floral scent gave me a blinding migraine so bad I barely made it home before I began vomiting. I got my mom the Chanel coco mademoiselle and the mugler alien “dupes” and I def watched a vid and someone did NOT like the alien “dupe” lmao so idk hopefully she’ll like it. And I haven’t seen any Chanel coco mademoiselle “dupe” reviews from dossier but Chanel’s cm is def more mature than I like so we shall see!!!!
@@P1ckl3i I didn't buy the chanel fragrance, but I did test out the Alien dupe today... It is in the ball park of the original, but I find that it dries down to a softer generic floral fragrance whereas the Original scent really packs a punch. It did wear all day.. (I sprayed it on around 7am and it's 5:30 and I can still smell it) It's definitely not as strong though.

I recently made my first order from Dossier and I took the quiz that they have. I ended up buying three of the four that they recommended. They recommended to me Floral Lavender (Inspired by YSL’s Libre, I ended up not getting that one), Spicy Orchid (that one I did buy and it’s inspired by Tom Ford’s Black Orchid), Aquatic Vanilla (I also got that one and that one is inspired by Juliette has a Gun’s Vanilla Vibes) and Fruity Orange (I got that one too and that one is inspired by Clinique’s Happy). They also said that I might like Ambery Saffron (Inspired by Baccarat Rouge 540) and Floral Marshmallow (Inspired by Killian’s Love Don’t be Shy). What I also really want to try is Floral Violet (Inspired by Marc Jacobs Daisy)

I got the Powdery Coconut (looks like they changed the name since your video) dupe for Tom Ford Soleil Blanc. It’s a little too sunscreen-y and sweet, so it’s going back.
Citrus Tea dupe for Le Labo The Noir 29 was the one I expected to dislike, but love the most! Not something I would normally wear, but it evokes a very particular mood and feels like putting on a cool pantsuit. A keeper!
Musky Green Tea dupe for Aventus Silver Mountain Water I found to be too masculine for me. I thought this would be my favorite due to the tea, bergamot, sandalwood, and black currant. However, i think the orris may have been what gave me an Axe body spray vibe 😅 it’s going back!

I ordered this past Saturday. It says my order is coming from Bethlehem PA. It SHOULD be here within the next few days according to the tracking. I truly hope my 3 bottle restock gets here quickly. I got Dossiers impression of YSL Libre, Mugler Alien, and Tom Ford F-ing Fabulous. I’m hoping to place ANOTHER order for my other 3 favorites, MFK Baccarat Rouge 540, Tom Ford Lost Cherry, and Kilian Love Don’t Be Shy. It’s a “well rounded” selection of “deeper” fragrances. The lighter more airy fragrances usually don’t have staying power for me. I’m hoping the clones are just as potent as the originals. Libre, Alien, and F-ing Fabulous are absolutely my most reached for scents. On an AWESOME note, 2/3 of the bottles that are coming now, have the samples. ❤️

What I am most curious about is the staying power of the perfumes. 😊
It depends on the perfume. Some are better than the original (jo malone wood sage and sea salt for example) and some aren’t as good. Overall, they’re pretty good getting at least 4 hours out of all of them.

Longevity I would say it’s as good… the original Baccarat rouge has a disappearing quality because your nose goes blind to it… people around you can still smell it, or if there is a gust of wind you’ll smell it on yourself again, while the dossier doesn’t have that quality. They’re close in scent, but the dossier almost seems a bit more “bitter/sour” like bergamot zest as opposed to the original being smoother.

I think they do a great job! I definitely recommend them if you’re on a budget or you want to have a variety of different fragrances. If you already have the more expensive fragrance, you may notice that when you first spray, it will smell similar to the original, but the dry down is sometimes softer and sweeter than the original, and I believe that’s because they put more of a focus on the initial smell and not the dry down.

Another point to be made. I absolutely love the Maison Martin Margiela fragrances. However, I’m vegan and it’s important to buy vegan and cruelty free alternatives. So even if the dupe isn’t perfect, it’s better for the ethical practices :)

I saw that! My Walmart doesn’t have them yet, but that’s great considering how long it can take sometimes to get it through the mail. (I’m currently waiting on an order I made almost a month ago)
Yes my Walmart sells them too. I bought the dupe for Wood Sage and Sea Salt and I love it so much.
I ordered 6 perfumes from them about a week ago and still haven’t received an update about shipping. That said, I’ve already been slightly disappointed because one of the fragrances I ordered was their Flowerbomb dupe which I paid $29 for on Dossier…fast forward the very next day after ordering, I was in a Marshall’s store and saw the REAL Flowerbomb in the 1.7 Oz size for only $19.99 🤦🏻♀️ so I guess I’ll do a little more research before ordering particular perfumes from Dossier in the future. I’ll update when I receive my 6 perfumes.

I am wondering how the longevity of the dossier compares to the originals?
Depends on the perfume. I find that the Jo Malone dupes last longer than the jo malone fragrances do, but overall, I notice that dossier puts more effort into the top notes than the base notes and that tends to smell stronger at first, but then fade away faster and not have as much depth in the dry down.

Not a fan personally tried the woody chestnut and I own the margiela jazz club and fire place and it just doesn’t even come close. Save your money and go for the margiela in my opinion

Woody Chestnut if you're looking for a sweet vanilla with a little bit of smoke. The Woody tobacco is quite similar, but the tobacco is present and gives it a slightly more masculine edge (in a good way).

I don’t know how similar it is, but I tried it recently and generally liked it fine although thought it was a bit flat. That being said layering with Woody Chestnut gives it everything it’s missing. Adds the smoky spiciness to the Jo Malone and balances Woody Chestnut with a bit of sweet light heliotrope

I actually just bought YSL Libre. The dossier version is sweeter. I’ve noticed that they tend to go more fruity/sweet with their fragrances.

45:54 staying throughout may not always be a good thing given they are finding that perfumes can have “forever chemicals” in them. So…
You’re right in saying that lots of perfumes contain PFAS (forever chemicals), however, in most cases that isn’t what causes the perfume to last longer on the skin or project. Typically, perfume concentration and the notes in the fragrance are what determines longevity. There are a ton of body sprays on the market that contain PFAS and body sprays typically only last an hour or 2. :)
How can we check which ones have PFAS?
I plan on getting my mom a fragrance from Dossier, but I don't know any of the fragrances. Any suggestions?

If you want a sweet cherry, maybe try Lolita Lempicka So Sweet.
Follow up comment. I did not care for the kilianl dont be shy dupe. the burning plastic smell. I also returned the Lost cherry dupe.

It depends on the fragrance, but overall, I would say longevity is 6-8 hours. The dry down isn’t always the exact smell of the original because I think dossier focuses more on the top notes/initial smell.
My question is, the aroma stays on or it completely disappears a couple of hours after, that’s the biggest issue for me

I don’t have the original, but I do have dossier’s and it’s beautiful. It makes me want the original. I did smell the original a couple of weeks back at Nordstrom and it was similar from what I can remember, but I didn’t do a side-by-side sniff test
