Heidenheim is actually gonna play internationally if Leverkusen win the DFB-Pokal Edit: Leverkusen won, so Heidenheim is gonna play in Europe next year
@@simon2083 either of the two. If Leverkusen win the pokal 7th place would play europa league instead of conference league and therefore 8th place would play conference league. Now imagine both happens than there would be the top 9 teams playing internationally
Nope, Dortmund winning the Champions League would put Frankfurt (6th) to that competition, but it would reduce the number of German clubs in the Europa League to just one.
Being a Schalke fan, I got to shout out the 2. Bundesliga league as well. Schalke themselves not only fighting relegation, but also survival as a club as relegation would likely lead to them liquidizing, Hamburg fighting heavily for promotion and eventually losing out on it (again), Holstein Kiel making the Bundesliga for the first time and fighting with St. Pauli for the championship, Kaiserslautern making the DFB Pokal final while in a relegation battle, Wiesbaden shockingly doing well before also dropping down into the relegation play-offs, German football in general is just great.
Very good video, BUT you forgot to talk about Christian Streichs Emotional Last Games for Freiburg, after managing them for 12 years straight. The whole stadium basically just cried, it was like the Bundesliga version of Klopp leaving Liverpool 😢. But still props for the nice video 👍
I think the thing for Mainz is, that their squad was just not as bad as the league table represented. They underperformed their expected points dramatically and lost a lot of games with bad luck. The new manager has A LOT of energy (comparable to Jürgen Klopp) and just motivated the whole club to get up again and just play what they are capable of.
This pretty much sums it up perfectly, but I just want to say that we wouldn't have finished 4th if we would have had this average of points during the whole season, because they Bundesliga has only 34 matchdays.
If you want to know how Bo Henrikkson turned Mainz around, just watch his announcement press conference (don't worry its mostly in English) ... I'm a Stuttgart fan, but after I watched it just for fun I wanted to run through a brick wall for this man, he's so energetic it's unbelievable
mfs will keep hyping up luton with 26 points meanwhile heidenheim finished 8th in the bundesliga😂one brit told me that what luton did was more impressive than what heidenheim did this season and i couldn’t help but facepalm and laugh
Great video brother! Love that you included my hometown club mainz as well! The problem with them was that the previous coach siebert played very passive, like a 17th place probably should, and only went for the safe place like corners and crosses. But the new coach Bo completly turned that around. He is pressing kn the last 3rd, always trying to annoy the opponents and disabling their build up play. Hes such a loveable guy as well that gave back hope, passion and live for the gane for our players! I highly recommend watching a view interviews from the playerd talking about him, they love the guy even more then the mainz fans do! Nur der FSV!!!
It's so funny that Football has story Arcs that just happen. Preußen Münster rising from Regional league to 3rd League last season and playing so well this season to just pass on to 2nd now has been such a blast to follow and they played their matches so good, especially in the second half of this past season. Heidenheim too, rising from absolute obscurity to actually being one of the best 1st league clubs.
One story not covered i think is FC Koeln going down and the ramifications of this relegation. Their squad is being gutted because of clauses in players contracts stating the requirement for Bundesliga football, and on top of that being handed a 2 year transfer ban, so unable to recruit players for the new season in the Zweite Bundesliga. There is also the absolute calamity that is the board of directors, and also on the replacement coach, who showed a lot of favoritism to players that in my personal view did not deserve to be starting and honestly hindered their chances of staying up.
hello, fellow Mainz fan here! I will just count up the reasons, why mainz was able to succeed in such a spectacular way: -Our team was never that bad, we were just the biggest under performer in this whole league, we had way higher expected points, but we just did not manage to get them :( But eventually we had success and got them finally got them -Bo Henriksen, our new manager, was a catalyst, a force of energy, who spread his energy not only at his players, who were basically ready to got to war with him, but energyzed the fans, by interacting with them. Bo went to the fans, in home and awy games, celebrated with them and pushed them to be loud and especially noticeable, before the game even began. He is just a force of nature, who resembles so much with this fun, „carneval“ and loud culture of the club, it is amazing. - The fans were absolutely mind-boggling at the final of the season. Mainz increased their amount of club participants in a short amount of time to 20000, which is a lot for a club in a city with roundabout 250000 citizens. The fans were sooooooooo energetic and always ready to go with the club and support them until the end. The last game against Wolfsburg demonstrated this perfectly. The mainz fans were more noticeable, more active and more eager to be present, than the wolfsburg fans. -Nadiem Amiri, he was difference maker. This guy who is basically and thw heart and soul of our game, came from the invincible Neverlusen for a fee of 1 Million € to our club, who is stuck in relegation. He was the key element in our game control, he was always present, always ready to step up his levels for this club. He was really enthusiastic and really entertaining to watch. He made really good connections with the other players in this club, such as our u21 talent Brajan Gruda, who also was just an important key player with his dynamic and creative game (he even has a slight chance to play at the Euros, if someone in the nominated squad, gets an injury just before the tournament, as Nagelsmann nominated him and Gladbach Talent Rocco Reitz, to a 5-day training camp with the A-Nationalteam, but I hope everyone stays injury-free ofc). For me, Amiri is a just a key element, a creative player, that the club just needed for a long long time. -Mainz 05‘s marketing campaign was simple but effective. The whole town knew what was going if you just visited the train station or saw the public transportation system. The campaign was everywhere. „Niemals aufgeben“ which translates to Never give up. It was present everywhere in the town of mainz. Also the social media account of Mainz, did their jobs well and activated the whole town with their social marketing skills. This way everybody knew what was going on and more people were just eager to watch a Mainz 05 game, than before. It was just very clever. - Mainz 05 under 19 team: The U19 team were just amazing this year. Last year they won the U19 Championship, which guaranteed them to play in the Youth League, where they overperformed. Mainz 05 had quite the long run in the tournament, where they beat the FC Barcelona U19 and the Man City U19 squads, which is ofc a sensation to be clebrated with in this city. These international games attracted many many people and fans to watch the U19 while the A-Team were struggling in the league and I guess it somehow strengthened the belief in our club again. I am absolutely certain that this enthusiastic, crazy and positive energy from U19 games were passed on to the A-Team, which allowed them to believe in themselves. If you read everything, then I‘d like to thank you for that. Also correct me on some mistakes please. have a good time!
I am a Bayern fan but Mainz is my 2nd fav club. Their season was so chaotic and I see them staying up and even going back to Top 10. Gruda, Burkardt, Amiri, and even Van Den Berg were good.
Mainz Fan here, we had a similar Season in 20/21 during corona where we ended up 12. in the end. I think the biggest impract we had since Bo Hendriksen came to our club was that we started scoring again. We actually have the 6. best defense in the league when it comes to goals conceded, so our problem wasnt our defense but our offence which wasnt able to convert any chances in the first 20 games we played in the Bundesliga. Getting Nadiem Amiri for cheap from Leverkusen und Jonathan Burkardt coming back from injury and scoring again was what helped us avoid relegation at the end. Also the teamwork and believe coming back with the signing of Bo Hendriksen really pushed the club, team and fans over the line at the end. Fun Fact: According to xPTS we should have finished in 6. place infront of Frankfurt with 49 Points this season but we just didnt score when we should have. If we can hold Gruda and can buy Van den Berg who is on loan from Liverpool, i think we have a good shot at Europe or atleast the upper half of the Bundesliga next year. Especially with our two Talents Nelson Wiper coming back from a long injury who is also only 19 and Paul Nebel coming back from a 2 year loan from Karlsruhe in the 2. Bundesliga, who had a great development in his time at KSC.
Heidenheim is gonna play in the conference league if Leverkusen wins the dfb pokal (which is probably gonna happen), so their season is even more impressive imo
I'm Not a Mainz Fan but I follow the Bundesliga basically since I'm 6 years old: Bo Henriksens mentality is Like Jürgen Klopp on steroids. He's like this super charismatic personality who just unites people behind him. The Club, the Team, the entire City. It's not unusual that he's pretty much the first person in the Stadium hyping the whole place up to Support the team. Super likable, positive guy who brought the Long lost fun Back to Mainz. That's something also his ex Players Point Out about him. Football can't be more fun than playing for Bo Henriksen. So yeah that's the whole thing behind this. And also the squad is brilliant nobody knows how they got down there. They also massively underperformed in the first half of the season, beeing 5th in the xP table. Bo simply reignited the belief in their abilities. Also the Transfer of Nadiem Amiri was a great catalyst, cuz now the young and talented players have a central figure they can latch on to, who orchestrates their attacks.
Mainz Fan here, living near Mainz and I'm glad to answer your question 😀 Mainz started the season with coach Bo Svenson, who was almost untouchable in Mainz thanks to his good work over 2.5 years. Unfortunately, things didn't go well, despite good performances. It really was like a curse, they fell into a maelstrom of a lack of self-confidence. After Svenson resigned (he wasn't sacked!), Jan Siewert took over. He was Mainz's U23 coach, but had previously coached Huddersfield in the Premier League in 2019. He was able to improve the team defensively, but virtually nothing went forward. Unfortunately, it wasn't any more successful than that, it basically continued in the same way. With Bo Henriksen, they brought in a coach who inspires. He's a bit like Klopp, he's positively crazy and infects people with his positivity. That was what was needed. Mainz weren't bad (5th/6th place in expected points tables at the end!), but they needed new momentum. Bo Henriksen provided that. He radiated new hope with his upbeat manner, he encouraged people and that lifted the mood in the club, in the whole city. Mainz is a city that needs that. Incidentally, Mainz 05 was Jürgen Klopp's first stop as a coach. I've never experienced such a spirit of optimism in Mainz since Klopp. Mainz simply needed another person like that. He has got the fans behind him, for example, he personally incites them before every game! As a result, Mainz became a home power and have not lost at home since he took over. He is simply an incredibly strong motivator. But the truth is that they were also able to bring in a strong reinforcement in the form of Amiri from Leverkusen in the winter, who immediately took over as conductor in midfield. In addition, many good but injured players were only able to take over in the second half of the season. Take Johnny Burkhardt, for example, who scored 8 goals in the second half of the season alone. As a result, the team scored more than twice as many points in the second half of the season as in the first half, putting them in 7th place in the table for the second half of the season. It's not as if Mainz haven't experienced this miracle before. In the 2020/21 season, they had just 7 points after matchday 17 and finished 12th with 39 points. Back then, it was Bo Svenson who led the club out with an almost even more spectacular run. Might be interesting for you too, as an idea for a video.
Hey Mainz fan here so idk really know how he did it but he manly hyped up the team and the fan made a great transfer in Nadiem Amiri. BTW if youd like look at the Mainz season from 20/21 we had 7 points after the first half of the season and finished with 39 that was our best second half yet.
Finally someone talked about all of the amazing storylines that happened in the Bundesliga this season, proving why it was the best league this season. I’m subbing bro great vid
It is entertaining this season , last season showed a bad publicity of Bundesliga , no matter how bad bayern are , they still win it somehow . This season looked interesting because german team in ucl final , someone other than bayern won the title , bayer Leverkusen had an insane invincible title . But we have to see if they can do it continuously. Yes it's true that mancity wins it every year but the title is decided almost last gameweek every year when other leagues have already decided their title winners
UK ppl so funny. Think they have the strongest League only bc all their oil Clubs buy all players 10x overpriced haha. Still they get dominated by Bundesliga, even by Seria A hahahaha
As a Portuguese, I can say the Bundesliga was the most entertaining league this season, compared to the Prem or LaLiga. I really hope for another surprising winner next season, even though i have my heart set on BVB eheh
i am german and i was a big bvb fan in the past but i am done with this club. i wanna see some boavista games next season. hope they will recover from this season and be great again like in the early 2000s
It's funny people say that the Bundesliga is not competitive because Bayern always wins it, but then they say that a league that was won by Man City 7 times in the last 8 years is the most competitive.
Also for us Werder fans it was a good year since we got our first win against Bayern in over FIFTEEN YEARS and spent much of the season competing for Europe (after we got promoted 2 seasons back)
I know this is about bundesliga only, but Saarbucken beating 3 bundesliga teams, one of which is bayern munich, to reach the semifinals of dfb pokal is crazy
One more thing: while all of this happened, the whole fanbase united as one to defend 50+1 because the DfL announced a deal with an investor. The next months were filled with protests, from banners to throwing chocolate coins and balls onto the pitch to rc cars and planes driving and flying through the stadiums. And, they won. The DfL crumbled to the sheer pressure the fans put onto them and scared away any investors who might have wanted to be involved. This probably was the biggest storyline of them all to be honest because of the impact it would have had in the longterm. German football STILL belongs to the fans and it should stay that way, no matter how many times a club wins the league in a row.
Best thing with the german league is the 50+1 rule. Clubs just cannot generate hundreds of million to buy all the players. Outside money is strongly restricted for them.
13:30 Im not a Mainz fan but Mainz had a pretty good squad and most people Ik (Im German) actually expected them to finish on a european spot or at least fight for it so the start (or everything exept the end) of the season was pretty dissapointing. Bo Henrikson managed to utilize the quality of the squad tho and after they got the first few results they had their mentality on their side too
Yeah Bundesliga was wild this season. You didn't even mention 1. FC Köln - probably one of the wilder stories this season or Bayern's endless and very public search for a new manager. And the 2nd tier was just as turbulent (having more Bundesliga champions than the first tier btw.), with half the league being 6 points apart embroiled in a relegation battle for most of the season - incl. the favourites to win the league. And then there was the the DFB-Pokal where the shortly mentioned 3rd tier team Saarbrücken knocked out one 2nd tier and three 1st tier teams (incl. Bayern), so that Leverkusen was the only 1st tier team left in the semi-finals where Saarbrücken lost to a 2nd tier relegation candidate, moving on to the final narrowly losing to a 10-man-Leverkusen. This season was just insane on so many levels. PS: Does anyone remember the fan-protests around the DFL investor deal? Seems like an eternity ago by now. I actually had to check if that was this season.
As a Mainz fan: -he rallied the fans (and practically the entire town) behind the club -he got lucky and had the full squad at his disposal (early season injuries were nearly uncountable) -hes a truly great coach with experience in saving teams from relegation -Brajan Gruda, Jonny Burkhardt and Nadiem Amiri are a deadly trio, europa league level at least. Gruda especially is looking like the best german winger since Sane. Sepp van den Berg (loan from Liverpool) was insane in the later season
Thanks for the Video :) As a fan of Leverkusen, I really enjoy all season recaps at the moment 😇 It was really fun to see all the storylines summed up in one video :) Heidenheim even finished in an international spot, because of the DFB-Pokal-Win from Leverkusen, which gave another international spot to the table 💪 Incredible performance for the first Season ever in Bundesliga. I think that Mainz had really, really bad luck in the first half of the league. They didn't play that bad and just didn't get the results. Reminded me of Leverkusen's first half last season, where our coach was kicked when we were 17th as well. I was a bit angry about their 1:8 loss to Bayern, but all in all I really hoped for them to stay in Bundesliga and I'm happy they did. Now, after relegation, I think Bochum deserves to be a story too. (I know, you filmed before that) Being 0:3 down and stay in the league really is something.
As a utd supporter I watched 2-3 games this season and decided to stop watching premiership games. Utd just sucked the soul out of the sport and city were going to win it so for my sanity I took a break from the English farmers league.
On the Topic Borussia Mönchengladbach As a fan and season ticket holder i can tell a little bit about us. Former Manager Max Eberl (now Bayern Munich) left the club randomly mid season for "mental health" reasons when the season wasnt going that well. Roland Virkus took his seat and had to start with a lot of contracts in the last season which kinda fu*ked up or finances + covid didnt really helped. If u look up statistics Gladbach is Top 5 in the league if only the first 30 min would count, and Top 8 if the game had 60 min, we are just fucking bad in the last half hour losing 31 points after leading matches this season, we have some mental problems in the team -> not just under the current coach but also those prior to Seoane. Free Transfer left in the last to years Marcus Thuram to Inter (32 Million € when leavin now 60M€) Ramy Bensbainie to Bvb (20 Million € to now 9M€) Matthias Ginter to SC Freiburg (18 Million € to now 15M€) alone these three players was a loss of 70 Million € for the club
The drama of this year’s Bundesliga is one thing, but if you think that one is the craziest, let me introduce you to the Polish Ekstraklasa, where every year we have crazy stories, but this year beat all previous ones. Jagiellonia Białystok - this team, promoted back to the ekstraklasa after 15 years in 2007, had a few remarkable seasons, such as back-to-back 2nd place in the 16-17 and 17-18 seasons. While they seemed to be an established mid-table team, but the 21-22 and 22-23 campaigns painted a downward trend, with the latter being a 14th place finish. This seemed to paint the club as one of the relegation candidates, or a bottom-half finish at best. However, after a crazy season, which included a debut of Ukrainian-born club legend Taras Romanczuk for the Polish national team, Jagiellonia were crowned champions, for the first time in their history. Now, i didn’t follow how this happened exactly, as throughout the season i mostly cared about my own club’s (Arka Gdynia) story, however i’m sure there were even more crazy details regarding this run, so i’m simply going to move on and clarify that the stories that will follow will also not have the full details either, and if you wanted to do that, there’s far more you could discover if you were to research this topic yourself. Śląsk Wrocław - Here, we have a pretty similar story to that of Jagiellonia, however probably even more shocking; while The Militarians are the 8th most successful club in the top flight, their last two seasons suggested heavily that they would surely be relegated. Two consecutive 15th place finishes, narrowly avoiding the 16th place direct relegation spot, forecasted another underwhelming season for the club. However, in a very surprising turn of events, they ended up finishing second, much like their historic record would suggest. Lech Poznań - This polish giant had a very disappointing campaign; it’s probably difficult to say that currently the club has a “golden era” but if so, then it seems that the era is slowly ending. Fighting for european spots for the entire season, the club had some very unexpected results in the last few games, getting only 2 points in the last 5 games, they narrowly avoided a spot in Europe. Puszcza Niepołomice - finishing 6th in the previous season in the 1 Liga, which confusingly is the second division of polish football, they clenched a playoff spot and miraculously got promoted to the top flight through the playoffs. Being the top candidate for relegation in pre-season, they shocked everyone by finishing in 12th and giving a glimmer of hope for all teams in the 1 Liga which have no chance for an automatic promotion spot. ŁKS Łódź and Widzew Łódź - despite the former being just promoted, these clubs with a fierce rivalry were expected to finish in completely different spots; Widzew was expected to be fighting against relegation, and ŁKS establishing itself back in the division with a mid-table finish. However, it was Widzew who finished in a respectable 9th place, while ŁKS finished in dead last. Warta Poznań - the other club from Poznan had fought tooth and nail for survival in the top flight. Survival could mean an end to the club’s struggles; it had to play in a stadium 60 km away from the city, as renting Lech Poznans stadium would be too expensive, and any other stadium in the city would only satisfy the requirements of the 5th tier. Had they survived, they would have enough leverage to be able to negotiate a deal for the stadium. In the last game of the season, mathematical models showed that their relegation would be extremely unlikely, but when the dust settled, it was clear; they got relegated. There’s more in the top flight, say Rakow’s underwhelming finish, Gornik being practically led by the legendary Lukas Podolski (despite him still playing in the club), Legia barely clenching 3rd place despite being expected to win the division, etc. etc., however i’ll move on to the story of Pogoń and Wisła (1/???)
Pogoń Szczecin and Wisła Kraków - Pogoń Szczecin has been a “Tottenham” of Poland for a long time, never actually winning any silverware despite coming close many times. Now, a Polish international legend, Kamil Grosicki, had joined the club, hoping to lead his childhood club to glory. In the final of the Polish Cup they faced Wisła Kraków; who, despite being the 2nd most successful club in Poland and terrifying any european club in the early 2000’s, were now stuck in the 2nd tier. Pogoń dominated the final, and their dominance finally culminated in the opening goal in the 75th minute. However, Wisła didn’t lay down their arms, and in the final free kick of the game, in the 9th minute of added time, they equalised. Then, early in extra time, they made it two and secured the trophy, leaving Polish Tottenham once again trophyless. Wisła is now competing in Europe, despite finishing only 10th in the 1 liga. Arka Gdynia - Now, i am the most salty about this story, as it is about my local club, however, to summarise: The club had been relegated a few years back to the second tier, and every year since, we looked like promotion candidates. Despite this, in this time we never managed automatic promotion, and had very disappointing campaigns in the playoffs. However, this year seemed to be the year. The season started with a fan boycott of the old owners of the club in favour of a former player of the club taking over. Despite this environment, after a rocky start, the players went on an unbeaten run throughout the mid-season. This saw the team be first in the table for practically half the season. When the boycott finished and the takeover was finally done, the club needed just a few points to secure promotion, and in the last four games of the season, it seemed certain that it would happen. With 5 points necessary to secure promotion, the club played against 17th place and 18th place teams. However, in a major upset, the team drew the former game, leaving them needing to get a point against either their greatest rivals and by then 1st place team Lechia Gdańsk, or against 3rd place GKS Katowice, who in mid-season were only 12th, but had since skyrocketed and won nearly every game, including an incredible 8-1 win over Stal Rzeszów. When 37000 people in white-and-green shirts and 1500 people all in yellow hoodies with blue letters “ARKA GDYNIA” filled the Polsat Plus Arena in Gdańsk, the stage was set for one of the most important games of the season, with the eyes of the whole country watching the events unfold. When Lechia got an early 1-0 lead, it seemed inevitable that they would secure the league title (if they won, they had it in the bag, if they lost, they couldve still lost the title to Arka), however, soon after a Lechia player was sent off for a foul right in front of the penalty area. 5 minutes after, a loanee from Atalanta Bergamo, Alassane Sidibe, would equalise for Arka, and it seemed inevitable that the yellow-and-blue team would catch that wind and sail to victory. However, time passed and Arka had 7 incredible 100% chances, yet scored none of them, and in the 84th minute, they were punished for it. Camilo Mena dribbled past the whole Arka defence and scored what could be considered the most important goal of the season. When Hafez from Arka was also sent off and both teams were a player down, Arka had one last chance to equalise and clench automatic promotion. Stolc was fouled in the penalty area. However, the referee, after a very long VAR check, did not grant the penalty, and blew the final whistle. Arka had one last chance to get automatic promotion, and it was against GKS, however a 1-0 loss with a former Arka player dealing the deciding blow Arka was down to the playoffs. We won 4-2 in the semi-final, and progressed to the final against Motor Lublin, who had just in the previous season been promoted from the 2 Liga. Here, a very similar story unfolded; Arka was in the Ekstraklasa until the 85th minute, when first a free kick equalised, and then an added time goal sealed our fate as the biggest losers of the season. Motor Lublin - i really dont want to talk about these guys, so to sum up: they just got promoted through the playoffs, had some managerial issues which led an inexperienced young assistant who played lots of football manager to take the job, and that guy somehow led them to win the playoffs and get back-to-back promotions. GKS Katowice - again, dont wanna talk about it, but the former giant had a bad start to the season, but turned it all around after the winter break, miraculously advancing from 12th to 2nd. Lechia Gdansk - last season the team which had been one of the „best of the rest” clubs in the ekstraklasa for a long time got surprisingly relegated, they made massive investments and got promoted straight back up, something which happens very rarely in polish football. another part of the story is that the club is in massive financial issues, with the circumstances in which they were allowed to be promoted (they had massive debts) being dubious and many employees not being paid for months; being back in the top flight might give them the cash to unfortunately get back on their feet, though. Zagłębie Sosnowiec - historically a pretty powerful club, they were promotion candidates from the 1 Liga, but they finished dead last. Podbeskidzie Bielsko-Biała - the most succesful club in BB, despite the fact that their fanbase is marginal in comparison to Stal B-B, who only play in county leagues (liga okręgowa, not sure how to translate that), had never gotten relegated from the 1 liga after their meteoric rise to the Ekstraklasa some years prior. they were another promotion candidate who got relegated in 17th place. Znicz Pruszków - The first club of Robert Lewandowski had gotten promoted back to the 1 liga, but were the main relegation candidates; instead, they managed a very respectable mid-table finish. There is more, a LOT more that can be talked about, however that is just the summary of the craziness of the Polish league. The amount of craziness can be highlighted by just a single look at the tables of the 2 top flights, seeing just how tight the table was in the last season. I’d really love to see you talking about our league, as we have crazy stories like this every year, and they aren’t fuelled by foreign funds like in the top 5 leagues, instead all polish clubs are owned by local forces; local bussinessmen or the cities themselves. Thank you if you actually cared to read any of this, love your content, byee!!
Good Video, BUT when we talk about the most entertaining League we have to talk about the 3rd Division of Germany. Just one example: Preussen Münster spent their first Year back in the 3. Liga, because they got promoted from the 4th Division (which is basicly regional football). So they main goal was obviously to stay in the league. And after 19 games (this league has 20 teams, so they play 38 games) Preussen got 25 points, so they were doing well. But by the start in the new year, they couldnt stop winning, and all of the sudden they were 2nd of the league with two games to go. They lost in Verl, but stayed on the 2nd place with one game to go. They won that game at home and will play next season in the 2nd division, the first time since 33 years. In the end they were 4 points ahead of Regensburg; at the start of the year Regensburg was 20 points ahead. And this is only one example of a Crazy year in the 3. Liga
Bundesliga is probably the most competetive Football League that exists. Many teams compete for the Championship and there's always someone who can surprise you. Take Leverkusen for example, literally nobody would've expected what happened this season. While Bayern Munich is the favorite oftentimes, there's always another team that pressures them, and it's not the same team every season. If you look at other leagues like in Spain, Italy or Turkey, there's always 2-3 Teams who dominate every single season which is super boring. The Bundesliga is really unique.
I’ll always remember watching Stuttgart with the Bundesliga on goltv in 07/08. Khedira, Mario Gomez, hitz, pardo, Osorio, hildebrand…also I’m all for the RED BULL EMPIRE!!
If an Englishman says farmer's league again, I dare their bloated team to play against the likes of Augsburg and try and create any meaningful amount of chances.
8:20 and they did that against my team 😢and we’re not trying to get back up into 2nd tier because they shot us down Got a draw in the first relegation game…
Im so bummed we couldnt see a football team not lose a single game in all competitions. Is Leverkusen can win the cup they'll go down as one of the best teams in Europe
Bundesliga 2 is even better. Everyone can beat every other team, you always have surprises, now they have even bigger clubs than the Bundesliga, HSV and Schalke are easily top 5 in Germany in terms if history, prestige and fan base, Nürnberg, Kaiserslautern and Hertha are also huge clubs, Köln, which get relegated this year as well
Yeah it is totally entertaining if one team just keeps winning all the time and doesn't lose once. Also great that there are 4 teams that only exist because of their sponsor. Best league ever
The only thing that i think was pretty bullcrap was the fact that Leverkusen pretty much became animals on the field once they saw that they aint going to score without a 10+ Minutes of extra time and started to be assholes on the pitch quite frequently. That wasnt really a Fairplay Team, that team was all about getting more minutes if they fell behind, which wasnt something they did once or twice, that was like i said: FREQUENTLY. That was quite literally something Real Madrid would do if they saw they couldnt win in the normal time and then play dirty as fuck to get something going in their way, really something i hated to watch and also the reason why i hated this Leverkusen. They did play good football but they werent doing any Fairplay what so ever.
It's indeed a good league, the only problem is Bayern. You can't have a team winning eleven titles in a row and call it a competitive league. Yeah, the league is not only about the title, but the title is the most important thing. And there is the problem of Bayern stealing every good player from the other title contenders so they can still winning it all. In conclusion, if it was not for Bayern this could be the best league in the world. Yet Bundesliga is entertaining and I hope it continous to grow.
I came here to say that you should watch seria a before making such statements. But then i saw that jaw :0 when someone told you "be there or be square" you took it literally
Heidenheim is actually gonna play internationally if Leverkusen win the DFB-Pokal
Edit: Leverkusen won, so Heidenheim is gonna play in Europe next year
Having a chance to qualify to europe in their first season in the bundesliga is insane
not if Leverkusen win the dfb poka instead dortmund have to win the champions league to get the 8th European spot,
@@simon2083 either of the two.
@@simon2083 no the original comment is right.
Pauli for the championship, Kaiserslautern making the DFB Pokal final while in a relegation battle, Wiesbaden shockingly doing well before also dropping down into the relegation play-offs, German football in general is just great.
yo as a dortmund fan i hope you get promoted because the revierderby will return
Man konnte ihn nicht nicht mögen, er war so sympathisch vorallem mit seinem Dialekt
I'm still mad about him losing against Union
Dang, I should have looked into that more, thank you for the info!
Bochum just had a thrilling comeback in the relegation playoffs today as well. Another great story to end a great German season
Agreed, this is like the miracle of Istanbul
I think the thing for Mainz is, that their squad was just not as bad as the league table represented. They underperformed their expected points dramatically and lost a lot of games with bad luck.
The new manager has A LOT of energy (comparable to Jürgen Klopp) and just motivated the whole club to get up again and just play what they are capable of.
Also the return of Jonathan Burkhardt who was out basically all season injured
The Nadiem Amiri effect, that guy is such a baller. Gruda and Johnny B aswell
This pretty much sums it up perfectly, but I just want to say that we wouldn't have finished 4th if we would have had this average of points during the whole season, because they Bundesliga has only 34 matchdays.
That's true, but to come back in that fashion is still insane
Yeah. I saw them as 8th or 9th. Hopefully they can get good results
"Luton Town would finish top 4 in the Bundesliga" -that guy probably
Finally someone understands how enterttaining the Bundesliga is
One story not covered i think is FC Koeln going down and the ramifications of this relegation.
This year especially, I loved the Bundesliga so much more.
hello, fellow Mainz fan here! I will just count up the reasons, why mainz was able to succeed in such a spectacular way:
-Our team was never that bad, we were just the biggest under performer in this whole league, we had way higher expected points, but we just did not manage to get them :(
But eventually we had success and got them finally got them
-Bo Henriksen, our new manager, was a catalyst, a force of energy, who spread his energy not only at his players, who were basically ready to got to war with him, but energyzed the fans, by interacting with them.
This is amazing, i love it. Thank you so much!
I am a Bayern fan but Mainz is my 2nd fav club. Their season was so chaotic and I see them staying up and even going back to Top 10. Gruda, Burkardt, Amiri, and even Van Den Berg were good.
I totally agree, Bundesliga was the best League for me this season and very entertaining. Great video 💪🏻
❤
I had hoped you would forget Union’s season. The CL made it memorable, but omg, the relegation fight was nerve wracking.
I will be realistic and say 9th to 10th but honestly, there is hope. Where did you get the 6th?
@@superninjaracer9971 ive got it from understat. search for bundesliga expected points and sort for xPTS.
@@JohnCena9393 ok, thanks
This Bundesliga Season was the Best we had in a While. I was so Happy that Bayern didn’t Win the league this time 😂
Bo Hendriksen did a awesome job! He has the energy like Klopp a few years ago at Mainz
And there was FC Koln who finished 7th in 21/22, last season played in Conference League...and now they got relegated 😔
Heidenheim is gonna play in the conference league if Leverkusen wins the dfb pokal (which is probably gonna happen), so their season is even more impressive imo
I'm Not a Mainz Fan but I follow the Bundesliga basically since I'm 6 years old:
Bo Henriksens mentality is Like Jürgen Klopp on steroids.
Mainz Fan here, living near Mainz and I'm glad to answer your question 😀
Mainz started the season with coach Bo Svenson, who was almost untouchable in Mainz thanks to his good work over 2.5 years.
Mainz are like Bochum, they cannot get relegated
Hey Mainz fan here so idk really know how he did it but he manly hyped up the team and the fan made a great transfer in Nadiem Amiri. BTW if youd like look at the Mainz season from 20/21 we had 7 points after the first half of the season and finished with 39 that was our best second half yet.
Finally someone talked about all of the amazing storylines that happened in the Bundesliga this season, proving why it was the best league this season. I’m subbing bro great vid
finally someone said it, i totally agree Bundesliga has been the best this season
Whos callin us a farmers league now?
Farmers league bar one year is still a farmers league 🤷♂️. Sadly the prem is turning farmer too with Man City's run
nobody
Still a farmer league
Me
UK ppl so funny. Think they have the strongest League only bc all their oil Clubs buy all players 10x overpriced haha. Still they get dominated by Bundesliga, even by Seria A hahahaha
Bologna earning themselves champions league football should be a storyline ngl. Worked hard so much, all season. They deserve it.
bros football humour is just too good
As a Portuguese, I can say the Bundesliga was the most entertaining league this season, compared to the Prem or LaLiga. I really hope for another surprising winner next season, even though i have my heart set on BVB eheh
agreed! 🫶
i am german and i was a big bvb fan in the past but i am done with this club. i wanna see some boavista games next season. hope they will recover from this season and be great again like in the early 2000s
We got beaten up by Leverkusen so bad we're settling for Vincent Kompany as a manager.
This Bundesliga season was just crazy 😮 Stuttgart would have won the Meisterschale with the amount of points they had this year
It's funny people say that the Bundesliga is not competitive because Bayern always wins it, but then they say that a league that was won by Man City 7 times in the last 8 years is the most competitive.
best footbal creator rn
Ja man
definitely top 5 imo
Haha i still got a ways to go, but thank you!
Also for us Werder fans it was a good year since we got our first win against Bayern in over FIFTEEN YEARS and spent much of the season competing for Europe (after we got promoted 2 seasons back)
I know this is about bundesliga only, but Saarbucken beating 3 bundesliga teams, one of which is bayern munich, to reach the semifinals of dfb pokal is crazy
u have to mention that heidenheim won against bayern and stuttgart, two of the best teams this season
Hope next season we're having a 5 horse title race
Bayern, Dortmund, Leverkusen, Stuttgart, and Heidenheim (why not 😂)
I see Leverkusen, Dortmund, Bayern top 3. Stuttgart need to keep Guirassy and the others. Leipzig are meh.
My man is based and Bundesliga pilled and I love it
Along with the Bundesliga...we need to get you on the Campeonato Brasileiro grind too this year, Dag.
Don't a few teams play 70+ matches?? The fitness side alone would be a 20 minute video
How are you not talking about Köln😭
Apparently, i needed to cover literally every team because it's nuts what's happening
@@DagnalDiagonal yep. You can also cover Bochum and their escape, Augsburg's rise with Thorup, and more.
Mainz is chasing Leverkusens unbeaten record.
Bo Henrikson managed to utilize the quality of the squad tho and after they got the first few results they had their mentality on their side too
Amiri getting loaned from Leverkusen to Mainz was definently one of the most important moves of the January window to help that relegation survival
Its refreshing to see another team win the Bundesliga besides Bayern Munich.
It is like Christmas when ever this man drops his opinion on something
As a Mainz fan:
-he rallied the fans (and practically the entire town) behind the club
-he got lucky and had the full squad at his disposal (early season injuries were nearly uncountable)
-hes a truly great coach with experience in saving teams from relegation
-Brajan Gruda, Jonny Burkhardt and Nadiem Amiri are a deadly trio, europa league level at least. Gruda especially is looking like the best german winger since Sane. Sepp van den Berg (loan from Liverpool) was insane in the later season
By the way, if Mainz scored the same average points throughout the season as under Bo Henriksen, they would be in 6th place
Thanks for the Video :)
As a fan of Leverkusen, I really enjoy all season recaps at the moment 😇
It was really fun to see all the storylines summed up in one video :)
Heidenheim even finished in an international spot, because of the DFB-Pokal-Win from Leverkusen, which gave another international spot to the table 💪 Incredible performance for the first Season ever in Bundesliga.
Ok. Mainz bundesliga champions, confirmed 😂
7:51 You sure about that? 3 years before this, Sandhausen won 5:1 against them to prevent Hamburg from getting into the playoffs 😂

As a utd supporter I watched 2-3 games this season and decided to stop watching premiership games. Utd just sucked the soul out of the sport and city were going to win it so for my sanity I took a break from the English farmers league.
On the Topic Borussia Mönchengladbach
As a fan and season ticket holder i can tell a little bit about us.
Free Transfer left in the last to years
Marcus Thuram to Inter (32 Million € when leavin now 60M€)
Ramy Bensbainie to Bvb (20 Million € to now 9M€)
Matthias Ginter to SC Freiburg (18 Million € to now 15M€)
alone these three players was a loss of 70 Million € for the club
Sounds like the sporting directors and higher ups need to go

Liga
Nice video man
the bundesliga is one of my favourite leagues, very entertaining and the relegation playoffs are enjoyable
RM & the power of friendship. Anime taught us that that shit is acc real smh 😂😭
0:18 they failed this season and were not that competitive after those few good games vs top half sides
I don’t think this will mean anything but you are my favourite RUclipsr in the fifa community
I’ll always remember watching Stuttgart with the Bundesliga on goltv in 07/08. Khedira, Mario Gomez, hitz, pardo, Osorio, hildebrand…also I’m all for the RED BULL EMPIRE!!

Video came a little early. Heidenheim will play Conference League Play-Offs this year
Do a video on Jahn Regensburg 11 wins in a row and a very interesting storyline
If an Englishman says farmer's league again, I dare their bloated team to play against the likes of Augsburg and try and create any meaningful amount of chances.
The english kids dont know that the English league was branded as the original farmers league.
8:20 and they did that against my team 😢and we’re not trying to get back up into 2nd tier because they shot us down
Got a draw in the first relegation game…
Power of friendship 🤣
Wait until he hears about the bundesliga 2
If it's so good, why isn't there a Bundesliga 2 2?
@@DagnalDiagonal good question
Im so bummed we couldnt see a football team not lose a single game in all competitions. Is Leverkusen can win the cup they'll go down as one of the best teams in Europe
8:30 wdym they are on a european slot bruh
Bundesliga 2 is even better. Everyone can beat every other team, you always have surprises, now they have even bigger clubs than the Bundesliga, HSV and Schalke are easily top 5 in Germany in terms if history, prestige and fan base, Nürnberg, Kaiserslautern and Hertha are also huge clubs, Köln, which get relegated this year as well
Yeah it is totally entertaining if one team just keeps winning all the time and doesn't lose once. Also great that there are 4 teams that only exist because of their sponsor. Best league ever
I love how the normies are now discovering how great the Bundesliga is ;)
As someone who loved Schalke back in FIFA 14 because of the wonderkids, I get to say I liked the league before it was cool 😎
Coman won 11 league titles in 10 seasons before Kane
great video! Need a thumbnail designer?
Mainz mentioned ❤️🤍
Great!
there is no doubt bundesliga is so much better then all other leagues. best fan culture and ultras in europe from bundesliga to 3.bundesliga
i didnt hear bundesliga ultras chasing eachother with machetes
1:48 "Although, that could be a positive so Bayern don't really steal every single players."
Meanwhile Dortmund: "Fine, I'll do it myself."
Bayern got Ito. Dortmund have Anton and Guirassy
mainz bought amiri and burkhardt came back from injury that is how they did it
Your my favoritt RUclips at The moment😊
ayooo this season bayern didnt buy players from the league it was dortmund not us
The only thing that i think was pretty bullcrap was the fact that Leverkusen pretty much became animals on the field once they saw that they aint going to score without a 10+ Minutes of extra time and started to be assholes on the pitch quite frequently.
We love the Bundesliga!
bro fire
I came here to say that you should watch seria a before making such statements. But then i saw that jaw :0 when someone told you "be there or be square" you took it literally
Mainzaaaaa Mainzaaaa Mainzaaaa
