    Confirming that this swap works on my 2008 Tacoma 2.7 5 speed. The original clock spring doesn't have the port for the steering wheel controls, which I had to replace prior to the swap to repair my cruise control - the new one coincidentally had it on it (the seller of the truck supplied the part). I did have to buy the 2014 Tacoma controls in order to get the wire, but it does control the stock stereo, which I will soon be swapping out.

    I'm trying to do the same thing to 09' Matrix, the 11' Matrix and Corolla came with a flat bottom wheel. Looks cooler and it's way thicker.
    Like you said, feels way better in your hands when driving.

    I tried doing this to my 2017 Tacoma. The steering wheel looks the same so I figured it might work. Unfortunately the wiring harness connectors are completely different. Just fair warning if you want to try this too

    Love all your videos! They are easy to follow and give me the confidence to do some of these mods with out any fear. This is my next mod.     Man, that's one real clean piece of work my brother! Of course my first reaction was YEAH I"M GETTIN THAT...then I priced it out and it would be 1000 bucks and the steering wheel will ship to anywhere but Canada lol. But I'll work on it though .

    As always I enjoy your videos a lot. I am doing the steering wheel mod on my 2010 tacoma. Could you point me in the right direction?, or if you have a part number or name for the wiring I will need to change to do this exact mod to my tacoma. I have purchased the corolla steering wheel and new im steering wheel so far. Next week the airbag but not sure what I need for the wiring inside the new tacoma wheel. Thanks so much. WoW this mod is expensive but worth it I think. Cheers

    Love the look. I'd like to see if there are any blank wheels without any buttons. No big deal if there isn't, but would rather not look at buttons that do nothing. Great mod tho

    My ‘17 tacoma steering wheel looks an awful lot like the later 2nd gen steering wheel...might have to experiment a little bit because that wheel looks super clean

      I have a 17 TRD Sport and mine is a little different layout. I think it looks great all blacked out. I have orange interior in mine, is your stitching orange too?

      Tacomaholic I have an SR5 and the only control I have that you don’t is the one to program buttons but I’ve played with it and it doesn’t seem to do anything important. The layout is a little different but the same controls are there.

      Manuel Tanon My SR5 should have all the same controls your sport does. I know with the 18+ they got TSS so they have the lane departure and all that. My interior is silver dash trim and just regular gray seats no fancy stitching or colors. It does make me want a TRD trim they have way better stuff

    Can you do this swap from a 2005-2011 2nd gen steering wheel?

      The wheel and airbag should function fine but if your current steering wheel lacks any of the stereo buttons then those won't work.

    VERY nice video on how to do this...how much were the 2 "new" steering wheels. You're right, this definitely adds some functionality & appearance to the inside of your Tacoma. I wonder if it would work on a Tundra?

      Thanks for watching Andy! I remember I paid around 450 for both wheels plus the airbag ... but the airbag is easily the most expensive part. Tons of stuff seems to swap between Toyota vehicles so it wouldn't surprise me if it worked in a Tundra.

      Thanks for watching! I believe the wheel would fit fine, but unless you already have steering wheel controls on your current wheel then the new steering wheel buttons wouldn't work.

    Which buttons work?
    The Tacoma wheel has 12 buttons and this version of the Corolla wheel has 13.
    I have a 2015, but my apprehension about doing this myself is making everything functional.

      On my 2014 Tacoma all of the buttons work except the DISP one.

      Though I also just noticed you are/were running the stock stereo. I've moved to an aftermarket head unit with Android Auto and an iDatalink Maestro RR2 for retaining and reprogramming the buttons, among other things. If the wires are there in the clock-spring, I wonder if there's a way to get the last button functional and programmed. 🤔
      Guess it's time to do some exploratory digging and contact iDatalink.

    Great video! Im looking to swap my 2006 Scion xB steering wheel with a 2012 Scion Tc. Your wheel looks like the Tc wheel and wondering what other airbags are interchangeable with other Toyotas? Any help would be appreciated.

      Thanks for watching! I'm not sure if Toyota uses the same size male plug from the airbag that plugs into the harness inside the steering wheel, but that's going to be the first point of compatibility.

      Good to be cautious around the airbag, but if the battery is disconnected you'll be fine assuming you don't damage the airbag during removal.

    I love the steering wheel mod.I have a 2009 I’m wondering if i have to swap the hardness to the corolla steering wheel for the cruise control to work? I don’t mind the buttons not working since they don’t work right now with the aftermarket radio.Thanks for your videos

      Yeah the new harness might be needed ... but Toyota re-uses the same parts like that on different vehicles so it might actually be identical.

    Hey bud that steering wheel looks sweet on your taco! Do you know if this steering wheel will work on a 3rd gen taco or would I have to get one from a newer Corolla for it to work?

      Thanks Rick! I've seen some of the 3rd Gen Tacoma wheels that look very similar (if not identical) to the one on my 2014. Does yours have any additional buttons on the wheel compared to mine as seen in the vid?

      @@Tacomaholic It has a few. Your wheel looks almost identical. However the left directional pad has volume up/down and skip forward/back (music) with a voice recognition button next to it
      The right directional pad is up/down/left/right/select for the heads up display on the 3rd gen, with a "back" button next to it
      There are three additional buttons on the right side for homepage (HUD Homepage), lanekeeping assist and radar cruise control follow distance adjust.
      Higher trim levels may have something different, but this is what I have on my base model SR.
      I imagine if you want to keep all of your extra technology options (HUD navigation, lanekeeping, and radar adjust), this will not work

      Looking into it further, if buttons are the only thing we need to be concerned about, the 2018 Corolla XSE seems to have the exact same buttons on its steering wheel, but in different locations

      The wheel will probably install ok but the newer Tacomas have more steering buttons so those wouldn't work. I'm not sure if using the controls from a newer Corolla would fix that.

      If your 3rd Gen steering wheel hast the same button layout as my 2nd Gen as seen in the vid (without any additional buttons) then I would think it would work just fine. That's just a guess though. Maybe try calling your dealership parts department and see if the numbers match for both wheels.

    I just replaced mine on my 2006 Tacoma but the horn does work. Does your horn work? Do I need a newer clock spring? Because to my knowledge the steering wheel horn works with the clock spring.

    So does a stock corolla steering wheel fit on a Tacoma? I have a 2011 tacoma base model (no buttons/ controls) and I’d love a more tactile and newer steering wheel

    Is that steering wheel smaller than stock thinking of doing same butt 3rd gen may that give more room for legs

      Yeah I think it's about 1" shorter in diameter. Not a huge difference.

    I'm looking to do a steering wheel swap on my 07 taco, would you know if this setup would work with it?

      I would guess that the actual steering wheel would fit, but the controls wouldn't work.

      @@AndrewJLS30 The steering wheel controls plug into wiring harness found on the steering column which probably aren't there on the earlier 2nd Gens.

      I believe the wheel and airbag will install fine, but I'm not sure about any of the actual wheel buttons.

      Those look solid. Were you going to upgrade the outer steering wheel part like I did in the vid ... or just use the regular Corolla wheel?

      For those who are interested in doing this on a 2008, I can confirm the steering wheel does fit, as does the Tacoma clock spring with steering controls (I changed mine to restore cruise control functionality). Currently searching for a 2014 tacoma steering wheel harness to confirm radio control functionality. Anyone have a part number for the harness?

      I have a 2013 Tacoma Sport 4x4 and was curious if your steering wheel illuminated. My factory steering wheel did not look the same as his so I am hesitant. Can you comment on how yours is working?

      It might physically work but I think the 3rd Gens have extra buttons on the steering wheel which wouldn't work.

    Can you please tell me what fuse controls the temperature reading in a 07 Tacoma .

      All of the fuse panels should have diagrams on the inside of the lid. Mine doesn't have the temp reading display.

      You'll need the harness from a 2014 or 2015 Tacoma if you want the steering wheel controls to work.

      I think it comes as part of the steering wheel assembly. Ebay is probably going to be the place to search.

      The wheel will probably install fine, but the newer Tacomas have extra steering wheel buttons that wouldn't function.

      I think I remember seeing that someone said the wheel function fine aside from the button controls that weren't present on the factory wheel.
