I think it's beautiful that he actually got to live out his childhood dream of singing in front of hundreds of thousands of people. He really was the prince of soul music.
Both the interviewer and Marvin have the kind of cadence and rich warm tone in their voices that are absolutely a pleasure to listen to. So relaxing to listen to.
Thank you for allowing us to listen to this wonderful human.....I have read his ex wife's book......and my thoughts and opinion of Marvin has not changed.......He sounds so caring and loving.....his disposition reminds me so much of MJ's.......Beautiful hearts with God given voices that they were willing to share with the world!!!

I still get teary eyed when I hear certain songs by Marvin. Every single song he put out was absolutely a hit and I heard them all as they were being released because I was raised upstairs over the jukebox tavern where you couldn't help but to record each song into your memory box. PRICELESS Jukebox Baby
what a great interview. Marvin Gaye was and is always a blessing to us all. His music has touched so many souls. Although he didn't realize he was loved, he was and is still to this day.

Marvin Gaye was pure class... never sang about bitches and hoes. He's remembered for that, even if silently, when people look back from today and do a comparison.

Makes you wonder what has happened to the breakdown of our english language?????? I couldnlisten to him speak.....or sing all day long.......take away the chris browns and lil waynes of the world!!!!!
nice...like how Marvin said "live and let live"...lol..my dad use to say that alot, from the 70's on. It was a saying stemming back from innocent times
anybody who is stunned by Marvin's speaking voice has obviously never listened to Save the Children from his What's Going On album. That tells me you aren't really a fan.
Christy Jackson No judge zone here because sometimes people can speak very different than the way they sing. My friend used to say every time she heard ”Distant Lover” it reminded her of me because I was listening to it before the DJ's on the radio was playing it. I used to do that a lot. ”What’s on the flip side”.?😀
Such an eloquent speaker.....very modesr and humble.....I love it.........makes you winder what the issue is with these men ......and women now that cant even pronounce a one syllable word correctly!!!!

One impression I got from this incredible interview was how much black singers in the 50sa and 60s worked at honing their skills by traveling and touring local venues.
Such a troubled soul who could translate all through song to touch the spirit and the soul. I've always said that R. Kelly's troubles and gifts were very similar to Marvin's. In no way condoning their inappropriate behaviors, YOU JUST CAN'T IGNORE THE GIFT. Continue to Rest in Paradise, Prince of Soul❤️❤️❤️❤️
He had the whole package what they call” it” but there was so much more highly intelligent self educated could sing song writer he seemed not to know how many Gifts he had and I believe his complicated family made him question him self he was modest and the drugs were a away to forget his past but it became a problem his bouts of depression had a great affect and finally he was recognized for Sexual Healing and not for his What’s going on and Mercy Me you have to listen to the lyrics and then you see this magnificent talent had so much more to him . As for women he picked the wrong ones . If he had the right one drugs weren’t needed because he had a woman who appreciate who and what he was a good father and for Jan Hunter it’s easy to make it salacious when in fact she didn’t have to do drugs but I don’t think she really loved him but she loved the star quality and not the man .
I believe Anna really loved him. Even his mother said that. I think the fame, age difference, family trauma (his father), and his undiagnosed bipolar disorder took a toll. If you watched the second part of this, you will hear him state that his doctor advised him to see a psychiatrist. Not knowing how to deal with all of that would be taxing on any relationship. Up to the end though, they never stopped loving each other. Jan, on the other hand, was way too young and in over her head.
Yes,very nice because that's how we lived in those times. People minded their own business!. There weren't cameras following you half as much as today. People today love to believe lies opposed to truth because they listen to spewed gossip before the facts are known. In today's world, MG would be called names for his relationship with Anna as well as Janis. Sad world today! Celebrity or not, your privacy was yours alone as it should be. I miss those times alot :_(
@Streamline09 I believe they did. Infact,I am sure they did. I read about this super show featuring most of the biggest r&b stars of that time in the book about SAM COOKE "YOU SEND ME". Sam Cooke was the featured performer.
MARVIN GAYE IS MY SPIRITUAL GUIDE. I COULDNT EVEN SPEAK HIS NAME WHEN I LEARNED HIS FATHER SHOT AND KILLED HIM. I ALWAYS FELT HIS PAIN. TO LOOK IN HIS EYES. THE PAIN WAS ALWAYS THERE. IT HURTS WHEN YOU WANT YOUR PARENT”S LOVE AND ITS WITHHELD FROM YOU. HE WAS ATTRACTED TO JANIS BECAUSE HE WAS THE SAME AGE WHEN HE LOST HIS INNOCENCE. SHE WAS MORE WORLDLY THAN HE AND INTRODUCED HIM TO FREE BASE. HE WAS A WEED MAN. SEE JANIS’S BOOK. THAT FORM OF COCAINE CAUSES ONE TO LOSE THEIR SOUL. IT WAS A SHAME. HE BECAME SOMEONE ELSE. I UNDERSTAND WHERE HE WAS COMING FROM. LISTEN TO THE SONG ANGER. EVERYBODY SHOULD HEAR HIS MESSAGE. GOD IS LOVE IS ANOTHER SINCERE SONG THAT SHOWS THE REAL MARVIN JR. MY FAVORITE AND FIRST INTRODUCTION TO MARVIN GAYE WAS FOREVER. I WAS ONLY 9 YEARS OLD. HE TOUCHED MY HEART AND SOUL. I MISS AND LOVE MARVIN GAYE VERY MUCH. BUT HES STILL WITH ME. HES STILL AMONG US AND ALWAYS WILL BE MY SPIRITUAL GUIDE

This world misses you Marvin, Much Love x x x
I love all of his music what a god gifted talent. The man is a legend. No duo could touch him and Tammie. What a duo!
Even Marvin's talking voice is cool
Here was the most intelligent person that I have listened to in the music industry, he was very open and honest!
This interview from 1966 and it sounds like it came out yesterday. The quality is 🔥🔥🔥🔥. RIP to the Prince of Soul. 👑👑👑👑👑👑

Wow! It's amazing he said he wasn't a basketball fan when he did a great job singing the national anthem at the NBA finals!
He tried out for the NFL's Detroit Lions.

His voice was very soothing and sexy.

Nice. Another time, another place. I wonder what year this was...
Pity he and his Dad could not heal the riff that ended with his murder by his Father….Makes me sad to this very day.

very nice interview! can u tell me where u got these photos???
how old was he here in this interview?
27
doesn't sound like Marvin's talking voice...but maybe its because he was so young.
I would really like to know what year this was. The interviewer said the 60s, but Marvin said he was 19 and a half.
He was just joking. He was in his 20s in the interview
@@benedicta3576 Thank you

Thank you!
