One of the most incredible comeback seasons ever. Period. Going from dead last in the league to cup champs within the same calendar year is just beyond amazing. Well-earned championship.
I always find this ceremony very weird for the new guys who weren’t part of the cup run. I also feel for the guys who were moved out and don’t get to be a part of this.
its part of the game players get traded or leave. its the same when players get traded by the deadline and cant be a part of there old team anymore.
But in this case, almost nothing changed. ;)

Usually, the banner is held by team alumni, in which the current players will raise the banner. I saw with the Hawks and the Kings.
In this case, I would have like to see Brett Hull, Bob Plager, Al MacInnis, and Bernie Federko have the banner ready for the current players to raise the banner.
I hope to see the Toronto Maple Leafs celebrate a Stanley Cup win at least once in my lifetime.

You can touch it if you’re the champs. And technically you are the champs until the season officially begins. Then you’re the defending champs, who can’t touch the Cup.
