Wow, the difference between teacher and student is astounding. The student's playing is competent, but the teachers playing is PROFOUND. Truly beautiful.

@@gcg8187 lmao Pahud plays circles around Galway. Galway isn’t even in the same universe of the greats of previous generations like Baker and Rampal, or of current generations like Pahud, Choi, Bouriakov, Dufour, etc

@@opticalreticle yes I have. Even during his Berlin Phil days he had the same choppy vibrato and strained tone. It’s clear he was trying to model his style after Rampal, but didn’t catch any of the grace and beauty of the old French school.

In my band class at University today our director offered a student a chance to conduct. After she went through a choral with us, he told her that more than the technical aspects of conducting, bringing your entire emotional self into your conducting / music / whatever you do, is so important. You have to feel the music and make it an intimate and significant moment in order to make it something worth listening to and unique. Emmanuel Pahud always brings so much much joy and passion into everything he plays.

Him grabbing the student's flute is odd but everything is perfection.

I an aspiring flute player, and I accidently came across some of flautists that make me want to do nothing but to put everything else down,( in regards to instruments ), ....and just practice practice, practice.... ..Emmanuel Pahud ,.….Your Smoking Hot on Flute, straight blew my mind , listening to you play Telleman's " Syrinx " I have same song on a CD called t The " Natural Flute, and you played it just as good and exactly like the one on the CD..., It must be such a rush beyond belief to be able to play so perfectly, you are my newest inspiration to continue my endeavours to become a player like you , thank you for existing,, Sincerely ....Michael Lord, Oregon, USA

Correction to my last comment,,,Debussy's " SYRINX " ...NOT Telleman. Sorry bout that.

I hate Syrinx... i think its Debussy worst invention...and i love Debussy. Come on!! Improvising with your flute there's a lot of better things that come out but in most of the cases you dont record it...or you don't write it on paper.

It has nothing to be with teaching... You feel it or you don't feel it. You have talent and soul at playing or singing or you don't have it. That's it. You have to feel the air and sound as a whole and listen to yourself captivating you at the same time when u play. This is what i do playing my flute too.
