    I'm a history buff and have been bottle digging for 45 years. I'm on the East Coast and have found some very rare bottles, but that long skinny bitters bottle has always been a bitters bottle I have dreamed about. For some reason I can remember everything about it from when I was a kid, just starting out, and found it in a book my brother had. He is who got me into the hobby. When I was 8 and he was 10, he and his buddy used me as the pack mule. I didn't care because I was with my older brother, whom I idolized, and eventually, let me actually dig with them. One of the best places we ever dug was in the basement of the kid who was my brother's partner in crime. His family lived in a 1708 house so you can just imagine what we found down there. We took breaks in between for them to play with their Major Matt Mason Figures and rocket they each had. That stopped and by the time we dug that basement, they both found out quickly how valuable bottles could be when they unearthed a very rare stoneware bottle. No, not a ginger beer, but it was obviously very old with fingerprints still visible on its side. It was marked Spain on the bottom. Then the handblown early 1700's bottles started to show. (our town was established in 1647) By the time those boys were old enough to go to college, they decided to sell their rarest bottle, worth $57,000 to pay for each of their college tuitions. Of course, now that my brother is 60, he wishes he had kept it because it is worth twice that now. One comment about your videos, there are kids who watch bottle digging channels, which is great to see kids getting into the hobby, but maybe be mindful of that when speaking and choosing words to use........

    This is one of your best videos because you already were so deep that you could show more of the bots in situ. Thrilling!

    In the early days of collecting the Bryant’s cone was actually called the Bryant’s dillywacker. From an old timer.

    Fantastic bottles you dug up there . Old ones too . I too have found the Mineral Water seltzer with the eyelet handle . They often have the No and Alphabet stamp of the Potter that made them , on the back at the base of the handle .
    I've found mainly the same German ones , big and small . They about 1890 here in UK/GB
    I've only ever found the one Dutch one , at my local bottle dump . I pulled it and the base came off . From the top it looked complete , but there was a triangle chunk missing out of the base and a big crack .
    The Old damage , busted it . Even tho I had exposed the majority . I glued it back together , as it's the only one I have .
    .
    Yes them Wide Mouth blacking pots are nice too .

    Nassau was the name of a place in Germany, a State. Germans became the British royal family in the 1600s so...."Pantheon Sallon Good for one draught Beer rev. Enterprise Brewing Co. Jim Dodd Agent. Honolulu " I think this is a Los Angeles Rubber Stamp Co. product. I dug it up from 100+ years in the ground. A lot of mint ones seem to be around lately. Sorry G, not now. Speaking of megaphones, do you ever find ACL Lyons root beer? It's from S,F, and later Fresno. A lion 1930s cheerleader has a megaphone..

    At the sites how do you choose where to dig...are you probing? Or is it just random.

    • @BottleNed
      @BottleNed  4 года назад +3

      Definitely lots of probing ! But sometimes you can miss whole bottle pockets w the probe so definitely some rando digging too !

      My father owns a building from 1870’s used to be a grocery store or whatever they were called back then....right along the property line by the fence I dug a couple years ago and was pulling out broken pontiled inks and shards but I stopped and filled it in because there were so many big slabs of concrete in there too, real heavy. Buildings were knocked down back there too so it’s probably remains from that. Still want to go back and redig....there is about 30 feet of fence and all along it there should have been privies. Just tough digging.
