what really sucks is that as you said, this film features Hattie McDaniel, the first black person to win an Oscar for her role in Gone With the Wind. By suppressing this movie, not only are they suppressing black history (which is American history), they are suppressing Hattie's legacy and contributions to this world. How is it not more racist to censor some of the first black actors allowed in Hollywood??

As a disney cast member and someone who has always adored Princess and the Frog -- I'm thoroughly pissed. Splash Mountain has always been one of my favorite rides, and Tiana is one of my favorite Princesses. This is literally just tokenizing her. This ride has never been problematic before, and suddenly during the 2020 riots, Disney comes forward with this announcement. This is not saying "wow, Tiana is such a hardworking and inspiring princess, we want to honor her and her message!" No, it says "look at her, she's black. Aren't we so great? Don't you love us for this change? We are heros." Tiana deserves better. Not to mention, erasing Uncle Remus and his incredible stories is a form of erasing African stories. (And James Baskett got an honorary Oscar for his performance which is historic!!!) So Disney: screw you. We see through you.

For real. It's not an issue of Princess and the Frog finally getting an attraction - it's the issue of not only erasing one of the most popular rides at the park, but also doing it just to hand Tiana the leftovers and pat themselves on the back

I saw this film in the UK as a young white boy, it was probably my first introduction to a person of colour on screen. My reaction was that for years I dreamt of having a friend like uncle Ramus. In short it was the greatest influence on my childhood to be completely accepting of other humans who might look different. The whole film was a wonderful representation of love and innocence.

As a Disney Parks fan, I have to say your take here is pretty on point for someone who has just researched the topic. Even though you’re reading the false leftist narratives surrounding Splash Mountain and Song of the South for the first time, you do an excellent job of calling them out.
Honestly, Disney is about to make one of the biggest mistakes in their history by closing Splash Mountain. Not just because it’s an excellent attraction, but because they’re doing so in the name of false ideologically driven narratives that seek to tarnish the legacies of actual African American folklore, trailblazing black actors and even Walt Disney himself.
Unfortunately, the ideologues have tightened their grip on Disney with Bob Iger’s return and there is no Elon in sight willing to save this once great company from what it’s become. Hopefully, we never loose sight of what was and are able to keep the memories alive in light of this utter destruction.

I am kind of confused about your point, but not everything from our past has to be about how racist some people in it were. Now I could say that if you want to go there, then every one of those movies needs to be explicit that the Democrat party was the party of slavery and racism.
But fact is no, not all movies have to be about it. Thats like saying every movie about Africa needs to remind us how racist Africans are and that they still have slavery. But nobody at all would suggest that.
Or every movie about the Asians has to say the same thing because yes, they are even more racist than we were back then, and they still have slavery. Again, nobody would say that. There are bad things about human history by todays standards, and there are good things. You dont have to mention the bad things every time you mention good things.
This doent make people ignore or forget bad things happened. That is what history books are for. They also have plenty of movies for that already.

In "Encanto", it's that Luisa is trans and Delores is autistic.
In "Wednesday", it's that Wednesday is autistic and she's being idolized as a demonized autistic person.

@@iLikeCok I think the term you're looking for is "overly critical"
It's impossible for a black person to be racist towards another black person.
And you have to pay closer attention to white people nowadays. Racism is more passive, but it's still racism. You sound like a child who hasn't seen much. Just wait.

"Princess and the Frog" is one of my all time favorite movies....as is "Song of the South"!! I grew up with my dad reading the stories to us...it's still a main staple in our home!!

I literally just watched "A Song of the South" last night and I find nothing wrong with the movie. No racial slurs, no actions or violence towards the black community on the plantation. It was post civil war era, and the slaves were free. They all enjoyed living and working in the fields and the little boy's grandma loved Uncle Remus and everyone else who were living there. Uncle Remus was in fact the protagonist in the film and he was the one who created the stories about Rabbit, Fox and Bear and they all had valuable lessons to the stories.. without Uncle Remus's creative stories, the imagination dies inside of him. He even quoted in the movie, "these stories don't do no harm to nobody. If these stories hurt, why did they last so long?"
I believe this is just a double standard to the black community to take out Uncle Remus creative stories. Especially having him as a black main character in this film. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Chandler got these stories from the slaves he lived with. His mother was poor and she worked on a plantation. He hung out with the only children on the plantation, slave children. He loved their rich stories he viewed them worth saving by writing them down.

The more I see your videos, Brett, the more I'm relieved that you expose this crap for what it is.
Can anyone say anything or do anything anymore without it being dubbed racist, homophobic, all the broken record insults?
Some of the old school Disney films I love, but the last few years at least, it's just all political now.
These types of movies are supposed to entertain and make people happy and fantasise, not get brainwashed and have everything thrown in your face as if you're the villain for not falling in line. Keep exposing all of this; so happy to see someone speaking with brutal honesty

They are erasing an iconic legend. Who didn't love Uncle Remus? I think I will sing Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah on the daily from now on. I doubt the song will offend anyone. My singing however...well...apologies in advance to those who may hear it.

Honestly, it would’ve made much more sense to revamp Tom Sawyer’s island with the Princess and the Frog theme than Splash Mountain. There’s plenty of room on that island for interactive adventures and even a little restaurant if they wanted. It would also become the focal point of that portion of the park; and Tom Sawyer’s island has needed some tlc for a while.

I always thought of Uncle Remus as the kindly neighbor Grandfather figure. Someone the kids could come to and learn about the world in safety and fun. I was able to find this movie at a fair this last year. I am starting to buy more of these movies so my young relatives can watch them.
