Great video, thanks for doing it. I'm glad you mentioned the amp gauge bypass, I'll be doing that to my 1970 Charger. Mine has a rallye dash with some burnt-out lights, a Tic-Toc-Tach that isn't working and some butchered wiring underneath where an aftermarket stereo and alarm system were installed and removed at some point.
Nice! this is why I love my old mopar they are dead simple to repair....easy to remove harness and with the right connector release tool a breeze to rewire! And they have the tools on Amazon cheap!!
Yes you do Mike. I’m itching to see videos on that Charger. But I get it, I got a lot of irons in the fire too. BTW, love the Challenger build. That’s gonna be a sweet ride when your done.
GREAT video. You literally just captured my worst nightmare. I am not good at all with any wiring on my Mopar. It remains a mystery to me, I don’t know what wires go to what. How hard is it to install a new harness? Do they make them for 65 Coronets? Thanks Johnny
Thanks Max, I hate messing with wiring too but going with a reproduction harness makes is super easy. I’m pretty sure they do make it for your car. I got mine from YearOne, lol for it there. They’re not cheap, I think I probably dropped around $1500 or so for all mine but it’s easier than trying to wire your own and way faster.
Peace of mind will come with all that fresh wiring. Good job Jonny🤙
Agreed Derek

Thanks Man. It’s a good cheap insurance policy. The gauge won’t work anymore but at least it won’t burn the car to the ground.

Very good video because I’ll be doing this on the 69 before long.
Thanks for sharing. I really need to get the car together. 😎

@@JonnyMopar thanks. They are all fun projects. There’s just not enough days in an hour. Lol.
I have the same ashtray cover in my 68 Sport Satellite.
Interesting. Check you fender tag. Your build date is on it. I’m curious if you have an easily build date too. I’ll have a video on that soon.
Fender tag shows A02. If I understand it correctly, that would be 2nd day of October?

@@JonnyMopar good to know, thanks for the reply Johnny! Keep up the great videos, your one of the best Mopar channels on RUclips bro
An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.
Couldn’t have said it better myself.
@@JonnyMopar it's pretty cheap insurance for something you care about. Especially being 50 years old and the Mopar electrical gremlins
How do you disconnect the bulkhead plug????
There’s spring loaded clips on the sides. You have to compress on one side from the engine bay side while pushing it through into the cab.
I'd like to replace all the wiring in my 66 Dart. How expensive is it for the new wiring?
It’s not cheap. I probably spent about $1500 on a complete set for mine. But it’s better than wiring your own. One of those necessary evils sometimes.
@@JonnyMopar wow!
I have the same ashtray in my 68
Ok cool. Check your fender tag for the build date. I’ll have a video on that soon.

What harness are you putting back in there?
I got mine from YearOne.
@@JonnyMopar thank you I'll check it out and see what they have for the Duster I'm gathering parts for.
