    It'd be fun to see you help your husband go through all his stuff in the basement. If he doesn't want to be on camera maybe shoot it like you do with your kids? Basement videos are my favorite. Seeing you help others with their hoarding would be really neat to see.

      YES to how to help a hoarder declutter!!
      My ageing (boomer) mum is finally letting me start with little, more recent additions and things with expiry dates BUT the bigger and older items are still a no-go as yet. This is the family home of 100years+ so has generations of hoards, while my mum's health and mobility are declining. Any tips on how to progress past the easier items would be greatly appreciated please, Ms Hart, so I can make the place safer for her 💗🙏

    My Husband retires this week. He is not sentimental and I am. He wants to get rid of most of our stuff. I would like to hear you speak on this topic. I would like to keep declutterring without the pressure of doing things his way. Talking about communication and working together when people have different ways of doing things. I would really appreciate that. God bless us all on our journey.

  • @Anberel
    @Anberel 5 месяцев назад +25

    The most important thing to do when laid off is to apply for unemployment insurance as quickly as possible. Even if you have severance, having your application processed quickly will prevent gaps in income. It’s not a loan or a handout. Your employer pays the state for unemployment insurance on your behalf. In some cases you might also pay a portion of your pay towards it.

    • @ahoardersheart
      @ahoardersheart  5 месяцев назад +3

      Thank you so much my friend, I am going to apply!! I believe in my state I have to wait for my severance package which will be in my last paycheck next week. I have 1 week’s work and the package ❤️🙏🏼❤️

    • @Anberel
      @Anberel 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@ahoardersheart it varies from state to state. Here you can complete your application and then each week you report any income received from your severance which modifies how much you receive that week (but not how much you are eligible for overall, you just get extra weeks.) This is good for situations in which the weekly severance is less than your original pay. It’s worth looking at the form right now anyway so you have all your information organized and ready to submit as early as possible. I was a contractor for 17 years so I’ve had to do it at least a dozen times. Best of luck!

    I'm less interested in videos where someone talks about a topic, I'm not really personally into the "how to" videos. I'm much more inspired and motivated and interested in your straight-up decluttering video with talking about how you're feeling and what you're thinking as you go. ❤️
    Thanks for sharing your journey with us!

    Honestly, you don't always need to do a voice-over. You could easily just set up the camera and show yourself getting things accomplished. Moving things around, going through bins, organizing, etc. You could always just pop in every now and then and briefly explain what your doing, but, I think you'll find people will be pleased just to see you making big process! Your followers will continue to watch, and showing a whole clean out, with a catchy title like a "The Great Garage Un-hoard: is it all Tossy-Tossy?" for instance might draw in some new subs that really enjoy watching deep cleans, organizations, and junk removal. You'll find your way, but don't feel like you have to voice-over every step of the way. Add some tunes and screen titles, and show us what your doing!

    I could not get a job as I was 61😢.

    It felt good.
    But I still felt sad as I was not bringing in a wage it was left to my husband .
    I felt it not fair on him.
    I can't get past this as I can't get my pension for another 5 years and my husband fills
    he can't retire next year .
    This makes me feel guilty.
    But now I'm declutting thankyou.

    I had seen in the newspaper advice column last year where a guy was cleaning out his Mother’s hoarded home after she died…he brought stuff to his home to go through it at his convenience…and then found his wife had thrown it out behind his back…and he wanted to go through it first! His wife is a “minimalist” and added that she’ll buy new things and if she doesn’t have a place for it or doesn’t use it she gets rid of that, too…money wasted …and it upsets him.
    A good topic for your channel…how to deal with other people in your family or others who aren’t respectful of boundaries and also supportive of helping someone through this issue…knowing how to deal with things like that 😀🌞👍

      Wow what a disrespectful and unloving spouse that man has. So sad. That stuff is irreplaceable. That is very selfish of his spouse. Poor man has to deal not only with the loss of his mother, and any tangible thing of hers he may have wanted to keep but also a selfish, disrespectful wife too boot. Wow

    I'm so happy you are seeing these changes in a positive way for yourself and the owner.
    I'd really like to see more about how you work on not rehoarding, not buying more, not accumulating more. I feel like I do great about letting things go, deciding and organizing but I still bring so much into my home almost unintentionally. It hurts my progress, my bank account and my heart to still be stuck in that cycle when I feel like I've made so much progress elsewhere. Any insight you have on that, including maybe guests or information from experts, would be really helpful!

Take a little more time to rest and recover from surgery. I am happy for you. And, tell your boss/friend thank you for taking care of you with the package. I am sure you were a fun and fantastic employee. May God continue to bless you and your dreams.

    I guess you don't have the same laws as we have in the UK. Here employers can't lay you off without going through a specific process and it takes months so they'd definitely have to pay your wages for that time, it wouldn't be any kind of favour at all. I'm glad you got a severance package anyway. You're very resourceful so I hope you'll be ok with finding another income and not going down the hoarding route again. Perhaps it is a test from God so you can prove to yourself how much you've recovered. Good luck for your future Miss Heart, you do a lot of good in the world and I hope some of it flows back to you now in your time of need 💖

    Just food for thought - I see the photographs you display as decor of family are out of date. I believe from personal experience this is a symptom of hoarding as it hanging on to items. You can easily update these and break another barrier of hoarding mindset. And your growing boys may appreciate knowing mommy doesn’t just see them as her little babies anymore, rather boys growing into well loved young men.

    The decluttering is my fave but I’d also like to see food budget. Will you be cutting down on the snacks. Things like that. I used to have multiple chip, cheese puff, pretzel options and with the crazy prices I only buy one item at a time now and the portions I hand out are smaller.

I think you have a gift for A Hoarders Heart to grow into something that would be totally amazing. That must be tough, being made redundant in this economy. What’s worse, is (I’m British so I’m not exactly sure how it works) that healthcare insurance in the US is done through work? So how do you guys access healthcare during times of unemployment? On the bright side, I know you’ve had a fortnight to come to terms with what’s happening before telling us, which is why you might sound so positive, but it’s nice to see you so positive and crafting again. I know you love crafting so hopefully, you’ll get more time to do it, especially if you can pop it in a video like this and make some revenue off of it.
    I’d like to talk about anxiety. Today actually, I was prescribed anti-anxiety meds for the first time, but I do the opposite thing when I’m anxious, I do a big declutter and chuck loads of stuff out as it makes me feel in control of my space
