I have a HP 8760w that had a thermal problem. I just put on 'Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut 1g heat sink compound" and cleaned all the vents very carefully after disassembling even the fan. I did that because it was no longer running counterstrike, reaching 95 degrees Celsius on the motherboard in 10 minutes. Cleaning the fan no longer worked. Current temperatures after applying new paste and running CS:GO: - 60-65 C on the CPU (8 core) - stable 60 C on the GPU - stable 68 C on the motherboard So... I'm pretty happy. Some remarks: - when you turn it on again for the first time, the fan may not come on they way you're used to, but just give a very small movement and then stay silent. I reconnected everything again, but... this was just due to the fact it was now a lot cooler. So if it doesn't come on right away after starting, just wait a bit. - Using a paper napkin will get rid of all the paste very easily. - Don't get any on your hands or especially your eyes, it's quite toxic! Wash your hands afterwards, even if you didn't get anything on your hands. - 1 gram is *just* enough to cover CPU and GPU. There is no point to ordering a lot more if you don't need it, because it gets old and useless.
WHAT THERMALPADS I NEED? I don't see either 8560p for 8560w heatsink WITH these. 1.5mm + 0.5mm, preferably white ones, with 2.4W/m measurement would be good enough ?
you prolly dont care but does someone know a trick to log back into an Instagram account? I was dumb forgot my login password. I love any tricks you can offer me!
@Briar Ashton thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Unfortunately I am stuck at 15... :( Can I break cover at dvd part to unmount? Or I better use screw extractor or theres way to compount paste with cover.
My laptop is running very hot. Could it be the thermal paste? Or is it my fan that is not functioning? As of right now I do not hear my fan at all and the laptop is very hot.
I just took apart my freshly bought 8770w to inspect if i can upgrade to an 880m type b and yes it fits BUT I ALSO REALIZED I AM USING THE SAME SCREWDRIVER YOU ARE LOL
I bought this computer of second hand, (I think it was repaired before sold it to me) it gets incredibly warm, is this normal? Ps. It gets warm when I demand too much to the CPU, for example music production or video editing, I never had any trouble with the performance though.
I have two. They both get hot. I typically work at the kitchen table but if I work on the couch, I need a tray to set it on my lap. Even with a tray the heat from the fan is uncomfortable. These machines are super durable and they edit video and photos really well, but yes, they are scary-hot.
Yeah mine is too. I am considering putting liquid metal instead of thermal paste maybe that will help. I mean temps are ridiculous ~ 84-92c when rendering in high performance mode ( it's clean ,new paste , cooling pad ). That's questionable engineering from HP they could cool CPU/GPU separately like in Dell Precision laptops but nope let's just cool this quad core and graphics card with single little cooler :/
Took me 4 hours in total, but I have 0 experience with electronics. Some things were different in my pc. The keyboard cables are very hard for a noob to detach
After checking, mine is an 8560P, not W. I was able to put paste on by just removing 2 screws on fan, pulling fan away, then 4 screws over cpu, and pulling heat sink off.
That's a nice mobile workstation, but I agree that's not an easy job. It's a typical HP engineering for sure. It's why I enjoy working on Dell a little better another point that drives me nuts about Hp is the cheapness. I am sorry but one fan and shared heatsinks? Really? In a 15 inch workstation? My M series has two and they work independently. I would wonder if such a system would throttle partly. Oh well.
The best laptop design ever! Period. :) Dell can only shine the shoes of HP. Nevertheless, it is HP in Space, not Dell and no ThinkPads anymore. I have four HP EliteBooks 8560W/8570W and I love them. I never had issues with them and so easy to maintain. I hope they run forever.
@@jimmynuggs5618 Yeah but now it's common to see shared heatsinks in mobile workstations. Before that was only in cheap or light and thin. Still I am glad to hear yours is holding up, that's a plus. I am often critical of HP because they will build something with so much potential but then corners to the point they undermine their own workmanship. It's as if the engineers got replaced by penny counters. lol.

Someone at HP needs a punch in the face for designing this laptop the way they did

STILL useful video in 2022 !!
Thank you! I was able to replace the fan after watching this.
i am considering to buy new laptop instead - that looks crazy.
Excellent video, this was essential for replacing my CPU fan. One note: I don't think the 4 rear screws, #20-#23, need to be removed.
Correct, they don't.
Спасибо за работу!
Наконец-то почистил и смазал свой 8560w!
Spend whole day just to clean dust from noisy fan ? HP does great design indeed!
Thank you, as others said, 20~23 dont need to unscrew.
1. Not need to unscrew 20-23
2. There is a hole for a finger in bottom of case for keyboard detach
Unfortunately I am stuck at 15... :( Can I break cover at dvd part to unmount? Or I better use screw extractor or theres way to compount paste with cover.
Oh well... I saw this comment too late, already gave maintenance to 4 of this computer model... always struggling with the keyboard :)
Where is that hole located?
What kind hole?
the hole for getting that keyboard off, pressing finger through it
Thanks, Now i will upgrade my processor and put more memory.
Temperature before / after?
0:31 - what screwdriver head is that?
go to walmart and purchase hyper tough 65 piece ratchet bit set. This dude could have told you what screwdriver he was using though
Hello! What size of screwdiver are you using at 0:31?
Try from T5 Torx to T8 Torx

because laptop has different screws

Both
I've been getting System fan 90B error and the laptop feels very hot then shuts off. Is this the fix for it?

thanks, very useful
Great work sir, thanks.
thank you!
im imagining my laptop looking at me while im watching this in it

How is the temperature before and after the thermal paste replacement? Thanks

Like 1/16, not to much
