We love visiting Tucson, we were just there last month. I feel like we need to go and try the restaurants we haven’t tried, thanks for the recommendations.
Daisy Mae’s Steak House! Great local stop on the west side! We haven’t been back to Tucson for a while and I’m really enjoying your videos for reminders and new ideas!
Living in Tucson for over 80 years, I am amused by some of these Johnny-Come-Lately entries at the apparent omission of other more noteworthy survivors. It is fashionable for example to dismiss Caruso's for being fake Italian, but it is nearly as old as El Charro and is still in place. Another old favorite is Karichimaka; likewise Crossroads or the "Double L" on South Fourth. And you can't ignore favorite hotel sites like Arizona Inn or Lodge on the Desert for their restaurant offerings. Maybe we can expect more quick reviews?
As a native Tucsonian, I do miss it since moving to Florida few years ago and I am surprised in neither part 1 or part 2 Lil Anthony's mentioned. Great place to eat then catch show at Gaslight theatre after.
Our kids go to Gaslight Theatre camp and we always stop by Little Anthony’s after. We just got some footage, finally. It will be in the third video for sure. Thanks for commenting! 😀
Oh haha sorry I misunderstood! Yes there are so many restaurants that have been in Tucson for 30+ years that I can’t put them all into one video… it would be way too long 😆 no one would ever watch it! Lol… so I’m releasing restaurant videos one by one over time. And oh my goodness Larua’s was my FAVE!!! So sad when these good local restaurants and shops that have been around forever shut down… 😩 I feel like I lose a part of my childhood every time…
Great video - thank you! I've been visiting Tucson since the 80s and have always loved the city. I live in Phoenix now, but do day trips often. We enjoy La Parilla Suiza which serves Mexico City style food and have been to both Speedway and the Ina locations. I don't know if they started in Tucson, but have been around since 1969 according to the website. Always delicious - love the Alambre Tacos and the Poblano Enchiladas.
Man, it's hard to choose a favorite... Breakfast: Bread and Butter Cafe, the one on East 22nd St. Their banana pancakes are so good. They serve lunch too. Lunch: El Sur, also East 22nd St. I haven't been in awhile but their fajitas are amazing, any of them. Dinner: Thirsty's Neighborhood Grill and Bar. Their atmosphere is so chill and if you get their wings ask for them to be kissed on the grill, which is a few moments on the grill after they've been sauced, adds a wonderful smokey flavor to their wings. They have a really great buffalo sauce as well.
I went to Roberts once a while back not bad, but it’s closed now unless they have another one. I don’t know about. It’s been closed for a while. Maybe they reopened it. I don’t know.
Northern Cali 2000 u of a grad. This video reminds me of good times at college. I love Tucson. AZ Mexican food is different from that in ca in good ways. Both are fire! Might have to roll up to the buffet for a double sportsman.
dont forget little Abner steak house, was in the sticks in 1969. and the old Pac-im- Inn on Drackman.old long gone Johnnies drive in a high school staple in the 60s,and dont forget Trail dust town steak house.
Thanks so much for these comments! We have an entire video on this channel dedicated to trail dust town, and we feature Pinnacle Peaks and Lil Abners in other Tucson videos! Great places! Appreciate the view and comment!

Thanks so much for mentioning these wonderful Tucson restaurants! I’m familiar with most of them and have featured many of them in other videos. There are so many great Tucson restaurants, it’s hard to get them all in one video!!! 😆 Thanks for the view and comment!

Hi there! They were actually the very first restaurant mentioned in my most iconic videos part one video that came out about one or two months ago. Feel free to check that one out after this one! Many more restaurant videos to come!!!
We mention El Charro in another iconic restaurants video! Love that place! DELICIOUS green corn tamales 😊 And Daisy Mae’s is awesome too! We were good family friends either the previous owner. Such a cool place. Thanks for checking out the channel!
The new owner at Robert's has kept the food, service and experience as good as the original. The snall changes only polshed it up a bit to make kittle improvements. The in house jalapeno bread used in the french toast upon request is a real deal and most original culinary delight. I go there often and love their ginirmoys best biscuits in town.
Oh man that place is good! We get all our family’s tortillas from there whenever we have a big family party! This restaurant will be in our next iconic restaurants video!
Mi Nidito is entirely awesome both food and atmosphere. Thank you for reviving the memories! (I know it might be sensitive for some because 'going corporate' but eegee's might belong on that list somewhere)
I love eegees!!! I actually featured them in my iconic restaurants video part 1, which came out on this channel a few months ago. Check that one out after this one :) Thanks for visiting the channel and for commenting!!!
Yes! I’ll have to include them on the next iconic restaurant video! I think they were voted best steaks in Tucson recently! Thanks for the view and comment!
Well interesting, too bad tucson has such a high crime rate, not worth getting mugged over. It also boasts some of the most horrible roads you will find north of the border. Don't forget to factor in the cost of possible car repairs in.

Orignal Guadalajara Restaurant on Prince
Sooo good! 😋
Daisy Mae’s Steak House! Great local stop on the west side! We haven’t been back to Tucson for a while and I’m really enjoying your videos for reminders and new ideas!
So glad you like the RUclips channel! My dad‘s best friend used to own Daisy Mae’s and we used to go all the time when I was growing up. So yummy 😋
You're making me hungry again. Enjoyed this. Thanx!
Haha I get hungry when I watch these videos too!!! Hope you’re doing great, Mike!

My relatives own Karichimaka so I’ll agree with you, with a little bias 😂
80 years I bet there was nothing around here back then

El Molinitos for me.. been going there for 30 years
Silversaddle steakhouse 🙂
Yum!
Love silversaddle got engaged there 30 yrs ag
It's nickname should be the SilverSandler. Since Adam Sandler visits and loves it there.
Still surprised Caruso's Italian didn't make Volume 2. They've been in Tucson since the 20's and the same 4th Ave location since the 30's.
It’s on the list for our upcoming iconic restaurants video 😎😋 Thanks!
Exactly! Where is caruso's?
Caruso’s is on 4th Ave just south of 6th street
@TucsonArizona thanks, I meant where is carusos on your list. We all know where carusos is 🤣😂. It's a shame Larua's closed.😪

The Egg Connection at Ft Lowell and Country Club - my college friends and I used to go there for breakfast 🥞 in the 90s 😊

agreed, my wife and i lived in Tucson in the 90s and la parrilla suiza and la fuente were our go to places.
Saguaro corners, el corral, Luke's for Italian beef and El monolito

KARACHIMACA located on Mission & Irvington
😋
That’s Karichimaka and I feel that they’re the best Mexican food in Tucson.
The first Mexican restaurant that I went to when we arrived in Tucson 65 years ago (1959) and it is just as good now as it was then!!!
muy buena pronunciación del español! :)
¡muchas gracias! Mi español es terrible, pero lo intento. 😂😂😂

I have many favorites, but I really like the chili Renos at Nanas Kitchen, Poco & Moms, and Taco Giro 😋
Paco’s on Grant/Craycroft has an amazing chile relleno burrito called the Bandito.
I will have to check them out! Thanks!
Please add Baja Cafe. Best breakfast in Tucson period
I agree! We have a video out on this channel featuring Best breakfasts, and it is definitely on the list! 😋
I believe El Corral was the artist Degrazia's home at one time???
Have you done The Hungry Fox?
Not yet, but I love that place! I will add it to the list!
We had lucky wishbone last night! Lol
Oh man so good! My favorite is the shrimp and dipping sauce, but I love that fried chicken too! Oh geez I’m starting to get hungry! 😆
Caruso's Italian Restaurant on 4th Avenue south of 6th Street has been around since 1938.
Yes, we are going to give them their own video shortly, stay tuned! 😁

So yummy! 😋
I worked at Casa Molina back in 1994❤
So cool! Does that mean you know all their secret recipes?!?! 😆😋

Even though Lucky Wishbone isnt as good as it used to be. Its a Tucson Original.

I was shitfaced literally every one of the 200 times I went to Casa Molina. I could not tell you if the food is any good thanks to Gilbert and Eddie.
Silver Saddle is much better than El Coral
