I'm amazed how people liked this record so much !!! thanks everyone....really appreciate the comments Producer, Arranger & all keyboards/drums---Scott Yahney

When this song hit the speakers on Saturday nights at the Starck Club in Dallas....it was time to just lose yourself in the pounding rhythms & lights....so many great, fun, & crazy times....and all the TOTALLY SMOKING HOT WOMEN!!!!
I saw these girls perform at a Power 96 concert show at Fort Lauderdale beach on the 4th of July 1988. I was only 13 years of age but I still remember their performance. They tore it up!
@@robminutoli unfortunately there was no real uptown bc the original singer wanted nothing to do with the song. So they held auditions, found two great singers and re-recorded the vocals. Clubs were calling from all over wanting Uptown to perform, what would you have done?

Remake of a Temptations classic but I remember this version being played in the clubs. Red siren 🚨 lights and dry ice foggy dance floor for the intro. Loved it!
Best dance song of the’80’s!! Kingfish in Lafayette, LA and Texas Club in Baton Rouge, that siren sounded, everyone hit the dance floor! Non-negotiable. I wish this were on Apple.
My college friends from Ft Lahdeedah corrupted me to this record back in the 80's...I was never to be the same again. And it was so much freakin' fun!!!
This is the original dance version licensed to Oak Lawn Records from Silver Screen Records with the original singer. When the song started gaining popularity nightclubs all over the US wanted to book Uptown however, for reasons unknown to me, she was unavailable and/or had long put the project behind her. This left a hit record without a singer to perform it. After many calls to the label wanting to book Uptown, OLR owner Ray Cooper decided to hold auditions for a singer and ended up finding two great vocalists, Jan & Michelle who became the Uptown Girls. Eventually the girls went into the studio and recorded their vocals for (I Know) Im Losing You remix 87 as well as the follow up, I'm Gonna Love You and a cover of Fontella Bass' Rescue Me. The Uptown Girls featuring Jan & Michelle toured for many years all over the US for thousands of fans.
That wasn't exactly a good business decision on Lorelei's part. If there was such a demand for her voice- she had leverage and could've ended with several albums of her own stuff. Too bad she wanted to stay "20 feet from stardom" She's got a killer voice!
This is one of the best songs to dance to. When you hear the opening it give you chills and makes you want to go to the dance floor. At least it did for me!
