I've heard a lot of stories about Griffey's dad. The biggest one is that they had social media back in his day that he would've gotten the vote for prettiest swing to. An awesome "Like Father Like Son" deal 💯
@@tigerbaskins I grew up near Cincinnati and used to watch the Big Red Machine. His dad hit second in the lineup behind Pete Rose, he batted over 300 during the Big Red Machine hey day back in the middle 70s. The Big Red Machine had a team batting average of 288, which is high for a National League team where the pitchers also have to bat.
@@StevenC32 man I'm very jealous. Pete Rose is a Legend and you got to see Griffey sr and Pete hit. I'll have to post some more Griffey content and some Pete Rose stuff 💪🏼
@@tigerbaskins Hall of famers Joe Morgan and Johnny Bench were on that team as well. I used to love watching baseball back then. The Big Red Machine during 1975 and 1976 seasons were compared to the 1927 Yankees that had Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. In a computer simulation back in 1981 the 1976 Reds beat the 1927 Yankees.
Such a unique and artistic swing, man. Arms slightly more extended than normal to cover more area with a graceful load and bat speed to make up for the the abnormal lefty swag. Best swing ever.
What's wild is how he's widly regarded as having one of the most beautiful swings ever, and no hitting coach is out there teaching kids to hit like him. He never had the big leg kicks, and didn't always uppercut his swing.
His hand eye coordination and insane bat speed was just incredible to watch I think its because his mechanics would be considered "incorrect" why coaches don't teach it more
I’m wondering if it’s because he was a lefty and his swing was less straight across like right handed hitters are taught to hit and his is almost trending toward that golf swing arc. My son is a lefty and my daughter a righty; she hates his swing because it’s “not straight across” 😂 but he wants to hit the balls up high for better chance of “dingers” lol out of the mouths of a 7 year old. Or maybe it’s because lefties have less time to react to seeing the pitch from a right handed pitcher than right handed batters do? It’s something I have been thinking a lot about.
Here’s the pitch to Griffey. A HIGH FLY BALL. DEEP TO RIGHT FIELD. THE RIGHT FIELDER IS GONNA WATCH THE BALL SAIL INTO THE SEATS. WHEYYYYYY OUTTAAAA HERE & GONEEEE..He got a swing during his career.it also would’ve been nice if he got a ring with the Mariners……😊
Basketball kids my age wanted to shoot, dribble and dunk like Mike. Baseball kids my age wanted to swing like KGJ. "Surely if I could swing like Griffey, I could hit it out of any park I played."
I don't think it's a stat thing. I think it's just a smooth thing. Almost like watching poetry in motion. But it's also a preference thing. Let me know you're favorite player and I'll post it 💯💯
The smoothest swing that I have ever seen. I used to watch his dad play for the Big Red Machine in the 70s. His dad was a great hitter too.

Low and outside pitches still got pulled to right. This man’s swing was legendary
Top 1 swing.

He was always fun to watch, and his shoes were 🔥🔥🔥
My favorite all time swings ever
1.Griffey jr
2.Justice
3.Sheffield
Justice had that leg kick that was so unique that really made his swing.
Strawberry?
Griffey, cano, manny
May I add Will Clark
Robinson cano had a nice one too
Very unique hitter in that he loved his pitches down and away. His swing worked perfectly in that scenario. Poetry in motion! 💪
He still swings like that today!
Lol I bet he could still hit one 400 feet 🔥
Man, the follow through and that swag step up, the second home run in this clip in particular. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

MAN THAT SWING! WOW
Agree bro. It looks effortless 💯
Man I could watch that swing all day. U the man Jr griffy
@@lloydg857 I love his swing and I love mark McGuire’s swing for some reason.
I love how everytime he watches the ball go up in the air lol
I just love how smooth the swing is. It makes me think of just hitting batting practice
And has the same leg position it’s a whole form he has in order to

Greatest swing of all time

I modeled myself after KGjr. It worked.
You hit left handed??
Consistent.
That's probably the best word I've heard used to describe his swing. Facts bro
That last one against the Angels was his furthest home run. HORRIBLE job by the cameraman
Lol facts
He crushed that last one sheesh

Very flat through the hitting zone and the barrel slightly up. I emulated the form alright but couldn't turn my barrel that fast.
You forgot the home run against the Blue Jays, but great clip regardless
Going to make it tonight. Ken Griffey was a walking highlight reel. Home Runs, a cannon for an arm and fast as lightning
Low and outside , still hit it omg 😲
