As a lifelong Astros fan, it reminds me of this player named Chris Burke. He only got to play six seasons and didn’t accomplish much, but for us, he’ll always be remembered for a walk-off homer after the longest post-season game in history, giving the Astros the NLDS.
I agree. the motions he made at the time he made them. the high fives halfway down towards home, the pile at the end. Moneyball got everything right as well as Pratt
Johnathan Poole I agree on Chavez and Tejada especially, but you also have to remember that the Yankees were LOADED back then. They were coming off 3 titles in 4 years, and now they were signing Giambi, and Boston got Damon. So they lost their best hitter, their leadoff man, and their closer all in one off season, that's tough to bounce back from, even WITH that great rotation you mentioned and Tejada & Chavez. Ultimately, it was meant to overdramatize the 'Moneyball' theory (that's what Hollywood does, it overdramatizes real life events to make them more entertaining). However, I do think that the movie did a very good job in explaining the basic idea behind Bill James' theory, and also how to utilize it from a scouting standpoint. In that regard, the film was very effective IMO.
