- Replacing a wheel stud on my daughters 2016 Hyundai Elantra.
There are 2 ways you can approach this, replace the broken wheel stud or just replace the entire wheel hub. Order the wheel hub online for the better deal but if your only replacing the wheel stud then just run up to the local parts store. I will include the part number in the video.
I hope this video shows just how easy this job can be and I hope I helped save someone some money.
Always be safe when working on vehicles and be sure your using a jack stand if your lifting the car off the ground and removing the tire.

Thanks A LOT my man! You saved me $165 for the local mechanic to do the job. Did not think it would be this easy. Great video.
That’s what I like to hear 👍
Your welcome 😃
Thank you so much , I was about to replace the whole hub over a broken stud, saved me some money for sure lol
That’s great to hear 👍
If only those Phillips heads came out that easy.
Easy and worked! Thank you so much for the video. Fixing my son's car.
Great to hear; glad it helped
Great video clear easy to understand and well shot. Much thanks.
Glad it helped
I found a video where someone took washers and a lug nut and tightened the lug to the new stud and basically pulled it through until it was flush. Pretty cool! May save some time taking the hub off! Love the video though. Thank you!
Oh that’s a good idea with the lug nut and washers👍
Glad you loved the video 😃
As a rather small mechanic i prefer this method. Hate smashing my fingies hammering on bits i know im barely strong enough to get through
i know im asking the wrong place but does someone know a method to log back into an instagram account..?
I stupidly lost my account password. I would love any help you can give me
@Kelvin Briggs Instablaster :)
@Everett Rory thanks so much for your reply. I found the site through google and Im in the hacking process now.
I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Bro thank you🎉🎉🎉 this is actually real stuff that helps people you save me a lot of money today
Glad it helped 👍
Just earned my self $200 very helpful video!
This was a huge help, thank you so much.
Glad it helped; your welcome.
Thank you for your video and taking the steps slow. I really needed this, thinking out doing this myself
Your welcome. The back tires aren’t bad but if it’s the front tire you’ll have to take it to a shop.
This model car seems to break them all the time.
It’s my daughters car but when she went to have a front lug replaced it cost her under $300 to get it repaired.
Nice video first one I watched and got the job done without watching 5 other vids
Great to hear 👍😊
Thank you for this great video.
Glad you enjoyed it; hope it helped
Thank you so so much for yiur consideration ti help others save money thank you

That’s what I’m talking about 😃👍
Very informative vlog here thanks . I have a 2011 Elantra that needs to remove one stud in right ear . I buy 5 to take to a shop that charges $50.00 for doing one but says it’s same to replace all 5. I did da brakes my self few months ago . I think I gotta go get some more tools for this work . As u show here . Thanks
Thanks; glad it’s gonna help 👍
Wasn’t too bad of a diy project.

Lmfao your hub is so easy to deal with on my 2017 elantra se it has all those covers and no holes x( had to bust the hacksaw out geez but still thank you
Well glad it helped somewhat 🤷🏻
Front passenger I took the break and the rotor off but the back plate is too close to the wheel hub to where you can't knock the stud out befor,e it runs into it much less put another one in how do I do
What type of grease do I need to get to install the studs any in particular?
Sub well earned my friend
Thank you
Thank you!!
Your welcome 👍
@@GetOutTheHouseGoFish Hey I was unable to knock out the wheel stud because of something behind it. And I was looking at other 2016 Hyundai Elantras and they don't seem to have the problem with removing a wheel stud, They can easily knock it out. Did you end up having problems with any other Elantra cars involving that? (P.S. send help!!)
@@dannyayala3060 take the hub off to knock it out
My car is a 2011 stud broken off n I don’t have sledge hammer only little one . How much does new hub cost
Don't know what exact model I got but completely different configuration. No space to hammer bolt through. It doesn't swivel because I have an inch nut n and not empty space.
Don't even need to remove the hub to replace the studs.
Brass Hammer saves a lot of dings on stud and surrounding surfaces...
What are the torque specs for those bolts on the Hub the four bolts I need to change my brake dust Shields

Got a 2010 elantra w broken lug bolt. Took both 14mm bolts off. Caliper still connected by 2 screws 11/16. Do I remove also? Kinda stuck !
Get that caliper off
By prying or removing the 11.16 not a snug fit nor 5.8. Are they 2 bleeder screws which need that special head ?
Get another set of lug nuts and use the old ones to pull the stud through with an impact no hammering needed
GODDAMNIT I DID IT THE HARD WAY. BUT YOU'RE GENIUS
Tighten new Bolt and will pull the stud Bolt through so don't need to remove
Thanks for the info 👍
Ok how did you get those philips head screws out without stripping them?
? I sprayed them with a lubricant; use PB Blaster that works really good 👍
Use a manual impact driver
@@GetOutTheHouseGoFish thanks it worked.
Buy a cheap impact screw driver from harbor freight they are like 8$
Basically whay you want to do is apply pressure as you turn the screw driver as well as hitting it with a hammer
Torque?
need same tutorial for the front wheel
What is the year and model?
I tell you at the beginning of the video?
you do not have to remove the bearing you put a big bolt over the stud and torque down the actual wheel nut on top of it and it will pull it in
Is it dangerous to re-use the front old hub? People recommend using a new one. Mine is free rust and 154 K miles only.
That’s a lot of miles and I’m he hub isn’t that expensive if purchased online.
@@GetOutTheHouseGoFish . got you. I did it. Did the whole job for the first time. new bearing and new hub. two hubs cost me $54 and bearing $42 for two.
@@GetOutTheHouseGoFish Now replace the harmonic balancer and still the vibration.
@@irisbaez1972 probably need an alignment.
Also check tires for uneven wear.
Try putting the front tires to back and back to front and see if there’s a difference.
@@GetOutTheHouseGoFish Nothing of all that fixes anything. I have two years with this problem and I have replaced everything I can imagine. I have dome everything people have told me here on youtube. I took it to the dealer and see what happen. Money, pain, sweating, wasted time, and still there. How much I would save if I took it to the dealer from the beginning?
This is only for the back wheels the front wheels are way more harder
Correct 👍
I get the people don't know the difference between bolts and studs but that doesn't make this any more correct to have this under bolts cuz there's other parts of the car that actually need bolts pretty much most of the any other part of the car maybe if that was explained in some other videos people would stop looking up bolts for in place of studs on carsThe big difference there is no other end the end on one end is the same as the other of a stud
Thanks for the input
Save me 300 dollars for 2 broken studs both drivers and rear
Lol this is the rear wheel!! Why can’t someone do a front wheel?
Most peeps don’t have the tools to do the front wheels.
This is my daughters car. She had one break off on her front wheel and I told her she will have to take it somewhere.
Cost her less than $300 for the repair.
What’s up with these constantly breaking off on these model of cars?
Good luck 👍
You're suppose to pull the hub off so you aren't destroying the wheel bearing by beating on it. Just saying!!!
Still going strong 😆 thanks for looking out 👍
On older ones just cut 2 slits into the heat shield behind the hub, bend the tab you've made back, replace the stud and bend it back. $2 stud and 15min job start to finish!
If only those Phillips heads came out that easy.
